The Vulcan-class Repair Ship is a UNSC ship class. It is used to repair damaged ships in deep space, without the ship having to return to a repair station. It carries numerous components for repairing ships, such as titanium plates, AEGIS tiles, replacement weapons, starship components, and slipspace drive elements. This allows it to repair even critically damaged ships and return them to at least a semi-operational status.
The Vulcan-class Repair Ship carries all the necessary equipment to repair any ships in a UNSC fleet. The ship has numerous internal cargo pods, carrying components, usually tailored to repairing one class of ship. The ship also has a workshop for repairing components or overhauling them. The ship has numerous docking bays and shuttle bays, allowing it to dock directly to the damaged ship and send over shuttles with supplies. External cranes and EVA crews allow it to conduct external repairs with ease. The Vulcan is capable of repairing critically damaged frigates to operational status in under six hours, and two can repair a Thermopylae-class Cruiser in eight. More often that not, these repairs are not substantial enough to allow critically damaged ships to re-enter combat, and these must often return to repair stations. However, lightly damaged ships can easily be returned to combat.
