Welcome, Sev40/Archive/March 20th 2015-March 21st 2016, to Halo Fanon: the wiki where you can write fan-made article(s) about the popular Halo series! Just follow these 3 basic rules and you will be guaranteed to be successful on this wiki!

Rule #1: Follow Canon! — What is Canon? By definition, it is the body of works considered genuine or official within a fictional universe. For example, Bungie and 343 Industries have officially stated that there were only twelve Halos. So, face the facts and try not to be stupid enough to create another Halo, otherwise it may be tagged and namespaced.

Rule #2: Mark Your Property! — Whenever you make an article, it is appropriate that you label your property with: {{Writer|Sev40/Archive/March 20th 2015-March 21st 2016}} at the top of the article. If at some point you have not finished that article, just insert {{Under Construction}} to notify other users that it is not complete.

Rule #3: Sign Your Name! — Whenever you place a comment on a talk page, please sign in your name, insert the —~~~~ at the bottom of your comment. When you press the "Save Page" button, Halo Fanon will automatically convert the —~~~~ to your username along with the time and date you posted. If you still have any problem on this method, just insert this alternative signature:
—{{Name|Sev40/Archive/March 20th 2015-March 21st 2016}} ~~~~~.

For more information on creating an article, visit the Halo Fanon Guide Manual.

Visit the rule page for the full list of rules and policies on Halo Fanon (link in the slider below). Note that other users will point out when you are breaking rules, so it is strongly recommended that you read them before you begin writing.

D'aww, thanks. Vinh's probably one of my best articles, but nothing's ever done, it's always just an acceptable draft, so I've been re-reading and editing again . . . anyway.

Tabbers are fun little things. The best thing I can recommend for learning them, or anything to do with wikia script, is to click the edit button for the page you're on and take a look at how they did their code (you may need to find an option to look at 'Source' if your Preferences make you use the new editor), then close the tab without saving the page. I'm in the process of an article that'll probably use a tabber, so I'll put that up in a few moments with a nearly-blank tabber so you can see an example: Fireteam Nepthys. Tell me if it helps. Regards, That Damn Sniper.

I would like to thank you on the comments you made, and while I did know about the grammar errors (that I will fix soon), well, I just don't know. However, there are a few problems

1. No idea how Ramsey would become friends with 2 adults and a senior, but it just dawn up on me, since older versions of this article included both Terry and Randy, although this was when Ramsey was a ODST. The reason why Tom didn't kill the two is because they were all in ORION together, and for the old man, there are some questions that aren't meant to be answered. Also, the three weren't at the scene then.

2. Mini war, great idea. Right? Yeah, uh, no.

3. The reason all of Olive Team was listed as KIA was to tackle the "33 surviving" problem. You know how things are complicated, and it was a great solution. Molly is dead, someone else is going to die, and one is too wounded to continue serving, and gets a desk job. Guess who survives? Ramsey-032.

My final problem is that I need to learn the ways of wikia.com. I need to learn how to use Section Headings and to master photos. (I recently tried to use it, but it failed.)

Yeah, you can only nominate one of your own articles in a single category. However, there's nothing to stop another user from nominating the same article in another category, which is what happened with Sonasaurus' Melissa McKay article back in 2013.

Hey, CB here. I've finally got the pic I need you to take. I need 4 Spartans, with the following armors:

John-117  : Male  : Mark V, Assault Rifle

Fred-104  : Male  : Commando (UA/FC-I[2] Attachment*), DMR

Kelly-087 : Female: EVA Armor, Shotgun

Linda-058 : Female: Recon (UA/HUL[3] Attachment*), Sniper Rifle

"*" indicates it is optional

The map will preferably be Spire or Outpost, you can choose any one. John should be at the top, followed by the others. It must be kinda similar to Halo 5's Artbook cover. I'll get the details on later, again.

Cheers.

The age is however old the author wants them to be. It's so I know how to describe and write each character in the story. If I have, say, an ORION, I'd need to know if I'm writing them in their youth in the late 25th/early 26th century or as much older characters around the end of the Human-Covenant War.

Uh, Sev, if it isn't much of a demand, could you get two more Reach pics? Both'd be the Grenadier armor, with the TACPAD and blue visor. One picture is of him holding a DMR with Sniper Rifle at the back, one of assassinating an Elite in the multiplayer map Zealot or in the Covenant Ship Long Night of Solace on the similarly names campaign map. Colors are the same as before.

Hey Sev, I've got more requests. 'Tis for my Team Gray article. Well, I need pics of three Spartans, one of them simply standing with weapons lowered (AR, DMR, Shotgun), background is the rocks on Forge World. The second is of them with the same weapons but fighting Elites, in the map Holdout. Armor is as followed:
Helmet - Air Assault with UA/CNM

Shoulders - Operator

Chest - Mark V[B]

Knee Guards - FJ/PARA

Visor - Silver

Wrist - TACPAD for the lead guy

Then I'll need pics for the individual guys, with one guy having a TACPAD, as said above. The map is not specified, though all the three pics must be on the same map.

Hey Sev, I just wanted to inform you that there is no rush for the Gray Team articles. You can get them later. What I want, though, are more single Spartan pics. The armor is as in this picture. One of his standing with assault rifle lowered and Splaser in the back, with only the head and chest visible. One of him shooting at a Elite with a needle rifle in a Covenant ship, over the shoulder view. And last one of him sprinting with a DMR on any Firefight map.

It is definitely widespread, with lots of factions fighting for control of the galaxy. I haven't got into working on it in a while (DAMN EXCUSES! :D) and right now I am planning on just creating small battles that take part in it. If you would like, I can add you, Revan, DarkNicky and Coolbud to the mix so you guys can add any details. Would that be fine? I also will definitely be creating the Battle of Coral, so if you would like to take part in that as well, I'll add that to the bulletin in a couple of days.

Hey Sev, I suggest you request the admins to change the size of your Echoes of the Past era icon, or change it. Because, you know, it is too big that it is counted as an actual picture, rather than a Era icon. You can see it on the expanded universe category page, where some articles show the era icon as the first picture. So you need to decrease the size or change the era icon to something else, maybe a symbol of the Covenant Empire? You can use this site to make a custom emblem and use it as the era icon, similar to what was done with Cebverse and Demons of Hope.

Of course, this is just a suggestion.

Flattered you thought of me in conjunction with S-IIIs. Well, when you're working with Delta Company, the first thing you've got to consider is their training on Onyx was aborted, which I see you've addressed with Daiki by having them on Chi Ceti. All we know about Delta in canon was they were planned to be trained, perhaps even at the point where the candidates were selected, but may not have even been recruited yet. And then, almost immediately post-war in Glasslands, Parangosky makes a point of telling Halsey they're back to using consenting adults for S-IV. So, a Delta Company would really change her character, as it not only undermines her point and makes her hypocritical (not that she wasn't already, having green-lighted S-III in the first place), but far worse by having a Delta Company where members were recruited against their will, which the other S-III companies didn't do (taking only those orphans who accepted the offer of revenge they were presented with; and post-Covenant War, there'd still be plenty of orphans). And she really doesn't need this group separate from the S-IVs, because Gamma Company is that force after Halo: Last Light, and the S-IVs have proven more than willing to do black ops work anyway (ie Osiris, Palmer ordered to take out Halsey in Spartan Ops, etc.). So a Delta Company isn't really a much-needed thing in the Halo-verse, and would turn into a needless risk for Parangosky and ONI as another dirty secret at risk of being uncovered.

But, being that we have so little information about them in canon, you can do pretty much what you like with them if Delta Company is something you really feel like you want to do. You could look back to the S-III training in Ghosts of Onyx for inspiration, though.

It's certainly plausible. Actually, you could probably get a pretty good villain character out of it by making a head for Beta-5 Division who leads this return to form for the Spartans, since ORIONs and S-IIs were geared towards Insurrection-fighting in the first place. If they're existing Spartans, though, I doubt they'd do a tag change to -D, and if the core of what you want is to have a Delta Company, than I'd recommend owning up to that and making an actual class, if you so wish. It's just not my cup of tea, personally.

Ghosts of Onyx is pretty good, have you not read it before? I can attest the Kilo-5 Trilogy and Forerunner Saga are actually kinda boring, and don't make for a great first entry into Halo novels, but Last Light was the best one in recent times, I think. If you find a copy, I'd recommend giving it a read, 'cause it picks up with Ghosts of Onyxs characters.

It's yer wish, however I think it should be in the Vadumverse, since Daiki-D127 is in too. Nice that you've put it in Cebverse too, honestly that slipped out of my mind. Do you think we should add a black background like Gamma Company's page and most of my articles do, and maybe even change the font? Also, maybe since it was in top-secret unknown to even Kurt, maybe we could start selecting the candidates the program from around 2547?

EDIT: Ooh, maybe Delta Company Spartans are used as ONI's hitmans and bodyguards? Since we already have S-IVs in the field, it would make more sense. Some of them could be on the field too, if it's okay. I've had this idea of a Spartan who breaks away from the UNSC and becomes a mercenary for quite some time, and now I'm decided it'll be a Delta Company one. I've tried to do it on Jake-A095's page when he was Jake-D379. I'm starting up the page now.

Cheers.

Who ever said we needed Ackerson and Kurt :P Actually, I was thinking Delta Company to be a program started by someone else than Ackerson, say, Serin Osman and approved by Parangosky, for more Spartans as hitmans and bodyguards. Since KingOfYou wants Kyle-B115 to be one of the trainers, we could remove the need for Kurt. If you want, I can add a different Spartan as a trainer, too.

If it isn't top secret, then maybe Ackerson and Kurt knew after all, but it would still be under Parangosky's command, so the deaths of Kurt and Ackerson wouldn't really affect 'em. I think about 1/3 of them would have the genetic markers, while the rest of them don't. Or else, we can get all of 'em having the genetic markers, so we don't need to worry :P But these are all my ideas, so they're not final.

I'm going to add the background and Verdana font right now. Also, no, not Skype. Only IRC.

Cheers.

Sadly, no. Good-faith edits to improve something or correct someone else's mistake on a page may be well-intentioned, but really, those problems are the original author's to fix, because then it's their work and their mistakes that are evaluated, whether by a GA panelist or just someone reading through. If you want to message Matt-256 about it, I'd recommend you try his talk page and, if he drops back in to respond, he can change them himself, at which point you could nominate it.

That does remind me, though, that since Lomi's clean-up I hadn't done another round of red-link checks through existing Good Articles; since I'm head of the GA panel, it falls to me to keep the catalog of existing Good Articles up to snuff when their authors have departed. That boils down to essentially the same good faith edits you want to do, but I've got the responsibility of that as an admin and the GA panel head.

So, in essence, you shouldn't edit other peoples' articles, even to fix small mistakes. If it's something you want to see change, put a message on those articles' talk pages about it.

Ah, I see. Wow, the policy hasn't been updated in four years, and that list of what's permissible? One guess where we get that, what with the "Jedi Order" stuff. H*bad directly copy-pasted it from Star Wars Fanon back in 2007. That's gonna need some updating, for sure.

Looking at Star Wars Fanon's policy now (which has been updated more recently than ours), it seems they still allow that sort of good-faith edit, but we may want to go a different direction. Not because we don't want Laszlo to be a Good Article, heck, it'd be great if Matt-256 were to show back up and get it in shape. But if it's someone's page and they're getting credit for writing a Good Article, I feel like it needs to be them doing the work to make it so, because it's theirs. I was a little uncomfortable with Coolbuddy editing my Pete Stacker article the other day, 'cause even if I worded something poorly, it should be my words to replace the poor phrasing, not his.

I should probably bring this up to the other admins to be deliberated on in the next couple days. That needs updating, and it'd be wrong for me to just change one of the basic foundations of what can and can't be done on the site on my own because it was just brought to my attention.

Yeah. I've just started playing the Division and getting the feel for what I want to write about, but yeah I'll write up a small intro and a brief summary for each faction (my factions at least) then other VV writers can join in. As long as you have played the Division or at least watched some videos on it then you will know what to write about. Think about what would happen if a power outage occurred on a global scale. Anyway i'll leave the imagination to you; should be fun...
