Ah, nothing to apologize for. It kinda just happens to RPs here, and sadly, the trend hasn't turned around since then. The good news is, there's been something of a discovery with IRC roleplays, and the most notable one has been logged as RP:Red vs Blue: Revolution. You should check it out, and I desperately hope this means you might be around again for a while. Good to see you again, That Damn Sniper. :)
Well, I'm glad to see you haven't had a heart attack or some other such nonsense. I've been creepin the last few weeks, while writing stuff, just like you, in word docs and whatnot. We should play some Halo 4 together sometime though. I've run out of amigos to play it with even though I still enjoy it.
Saw them, read them, loved them! Great emotional depth on Laszlo, loved all the nods to other Class III stories and whatnots, loved Standoff being called Griff, and loved the increasing complexity of it all. I think I'll start typing up my Roger updates, since I have them on paper. Looking forward to whatever more you've got in store.
Hmm, I definitely like the idea of a funeral for Standoff, though the logistics are tricky. I think Connor, Roger, Laz, Bal, and Rachel would all be likely attendees, along with Matt-363, Jacky-359, and Mason-317 of Gold Team. Not sure about Adam and Lucia. More complicated than the attendees is the logistics of when the old bastard finally would decide to croak, and how. As it is now, he's kind of in limbo--I had him try and shoot himself and fail, and not sure what to do with him. I'll think on it. As for extended family, not much to speak of. I think for now, do some 2540-48 entries, and I'll cook up a finish for Standoff.
Enjoyable yet again! I liked the bit at the end of stealing the journals, too. Funny bit of half-foreshadowing, given that Crimson steals journals...just not Laz's. Maybe Rachel should end up stealing his? That'd be entertaining no doubt. It's also great to see Rachel being analytical come into play. Nice touch how you can scroll right from the audio log of her taking a part a shrink to her personnel bio where it talks about how analytically minded she is. I've got some definite thoughts on Standoff I think, too.
Hey Matt, good to see your still around. I'll be honest with you about Sienna - it's been long enough that I don't remember what we had planned as possibilities, and I haven't been active enough as of late to think much about my characters. I creep around a lot, but sadly I haven't been active that much lately myself, despite my better intentions.
In short, if you wanna try something with Sienna Team, go around, it won't bother me. I might mess with them, or a version of them, if I can ever get around to writing some of the stories I've been thinking about, but for right now it doesn't matter.
You know, the pysche interviews idea is pretty intriguing actually. I think I may incorporate that myself. It'd be a good way of reconnecting to some of the old Class III's, some of whom I'm contemplating using in an upcoming deal. I'm thinking Standoff is ultimately going to get killed by good ol' Leonid. I have it all planned out, and I can see some nice drama unfolding from the whole thing in my head actually.
I'm thinking it actually won't be a set hit, actually. Did you ever read my Halo: Pursuit? If not, go read it, then come back to this :P
How About now?
If not, drat.
So basically, Leonid is being pursued by Spartan Branch, who want him for infiltrating, and being sheltered by parts of ONI, while also being pursued by agents of his old Leonidan abductor, Codename: CHAUCER. What I'm thinking, is that Spartan Branch can't locate Leonid on their own, Standoff finds him, he goes to them with the location asking for re-enlistment (he's got a grudge against ol Leonid for the hit on Richard-312), and goes on a raid against Leonid and ends up dead. I think it'd be especially interesting to see Laszlo's reaction. Speaking of Laszlo, I'm thinking for my journal entries, I could have one where Laz hears about Standoff trying to off himself and gives him some advice based on his own almost suicide attempt after Class III augmentation. Sound good?
I think that no matter the exact background, a Laz-Leo confrontation would be a good one. It'd be fun to see both the drama of former teammates and, if it comes to it, a straight up engagement. We've already got Leo vs. Indigo/Jared. Why not throw in another Leonidan? And again, sweet journals. It's fun to see the disparity between Laz towards Standoff at the beginning of the project, vs. him motivating Standoff in '57. Although it does bring up a good point: I'm not entirely sure why exactly Standoff would have been chosen. I may need to think up a reason all these years later xD. I'm going to be typing up journals at work today, I do believe. Got to love a lifeguarding gig...
Oh, and pretty much damn perfect for the Laz transmission. I'll be jumping on Standoff's reaction posthaste.
Yep, refering to one of the BLUE NIGHTS entries in VORAUSSICHT xD. Actually a fun scene. At one point one of Indigo yells at Leonid to drop his gun. He does...then draws his knife and throws it into the Indigo fellow's chest. Very Leonid indeed. And I admit, it would be fun to have a Leonidan collection. They're interesting characters just...we're lazy. Or at least I am xD.
And probably a good thing to explain that from both sides. I believe Standoff explains his own standoffish stance towards Laz in his journal---I'm too lazy at the moment to go back and check. That thing is huge. I think the "average Joe, forgettable" explanation for choosing Standoff fits, though---and is also fun, because Standoff proves himself to be hardly average with some of the stuff he does later on. But anyways, I put up Standoff's reaction, plus the beginning of his hunt to track down Leonid and avenge Richard-312's death. He mentions getting help from Laszlo in gathering information---if you want to write a concurrent entry for Laz talking about his side of things, I'm sure it'd be entertaining.
I do distinctly remember posting all of my BLUE NIGHTS entries at the same time, too...likely created a bit of deluge. Forgetfulness is to be expected xD. And those journal entries were killer and pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. The one where Laz realizes it's likely Leonid...ooh good stuff. You can feel the tangled seething of emotions. I got some more journals coming today, along with something called SUNSHINE. You might want to grab a look see (;
EDIT: Oh, and I stole your idea and did a pysch interview on Roger. Made me remember why he's so much fun to write. He's such a little shit xD
EDIT 2: I realize I'm probably drowning your talk page in a deluge of minor things, but I also think I'm going to do a pysch eval on Matt-363. Since his number is after Rachel's and I assume the interviews are being done in number order, they need a new therapist, right? Any suggestions on names? You always come up with cool ones xD. Oh, and what exactly is Laz up to post war? Is it all searching for 117 with Savior and then occassionally raiding brutes? What does he do post '57 when 117 is discovered? Or does he stay on Savior under false pretenses?
In all honesty, it was borne more out of a desire to showcase my opinion of the SPARTAN-IV's more than anything else---how they're basically marines with fancy armor, and when they stack up against a real SPARTAN-II, they get creamed. The justifying him as being his own team was totally a way of accentuating that. It's much more poignant for the lone SPARTAN-II to be classified as the best unit on Infinity than a squad with a SPARTAN-II in it. Bit of a convoluted point---though it sure is a fun one to make! There's two more entries for SUNSHINE coming (one of which would have been up tonight...had I saved the completed document and not let my battery die...) that'll wrap it up and tie into Pursuit. Plus give some back story to Miller (whose one of my favorite characters, the way I write him---super capable, super smart, to the point where he actually plays dumb to dispel suspicion, justifying the over the top behavior he shows in Spartan Ops and meshing pretty well with the way he acts very cool and collected during some points).
As for pysch evals, I know they're old hat, but it's more fun to say I stole something :P. They're definitely a lot of fun to write; great way to force you into the mind of your character. Connor's was a blast, I'll admit; he's earnest and super talented. Quite the contrast from Roger. And that whole Meta-Mattiverse...hot damn o.O. That would be entertaining to read. That seems like an inherently impossible endeavor, trying to tie all those canons together. Personally, I feel increasingly like separating my timelines into a Necros-verse, then a 343/SpecOps-ish verse, seeing as Necros is sort of stagnating and I'm tying a bunch of stuff to VORAUSSICHT and BLUE NIGHTS and intertwining my favorite set of my articles (Roger, Leonid, Ares Logs, Blue Nights) into one interconnected whole.
Anyway though, I like the idea of Laszlo refusing to join Spartan. It's a branch that's somewhat lacking in...subltey. Seeing as Laz is a character with a lot of levels to him (and very smart) it'd be tough to see him bowing down to someone like Palmer or letting himself be absorbed into generic, infantry engagements. He seems like the type to do more interesting stuff xD. Plus, as someone whose trained Spartans and lived alongside Spartan his whole life, I can see him having...not a dim view of the SPARTAN-IVs, but maybe not being at ease with them. That's just me though. I personally feel like a lot of the twos probably don't fit in well with the Fours.
And as for John, he definitely comes back in '57, but I think the gist of things is that ONI is keeping it on the down low. No hero's welcome or whatnot---probably an extended debriefing followed by some touchy missions they need doing but don't want to send Infinity on. I mean, Halsey didn't know he was alive, and while she was being held prisoner, I still think ONI likely kept his return quiet. They were trying to turn the Fours into their new heros, seeing as they're more "human" than the Twos. Don't need MC coming in and stealing their glory.
Finally, I do love the way Laz takes it onto himself to hunt down Leonid---very Cain and Able stuff. It would make me sad if Laz got killed or imprisoned though. The dude deserves a break. I'm actually toying with the idea of Standoff being part of a team hunting down Leonid (Spartan branch recruiting him to help find him where their earlier efforts weren't successful, only for said team to be drawn into a three way battle between agents of CHAUCER trying to "tie up loose ends" with Leo. I might have Standoff die in said battle, so that his death is Leonid's fault but maybe not directly. Or, having Leonid kill him, but it being partly self defense. Standoff's team, I think, I'd like to consist of Gold Team and the Fireteam Granite from Pursuit, but hell, maybe even throw Laz, Bal, and Rachel into the mix?
I guess overall I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Still got one last entry to write, but it should go fairly http://halofanon.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Spartan_501 And you definitely should, just for the entertainment factor. Everyone will flock to it to see the chaos that comes from trying to reconcile our different visions of the universe. Do you remember the days when we all used to pretend everyone's fanon existed within the Same universe? Where you couldn't have the same model of hog or take someone else's Spartan-II tag? Ah, the good old days.
Scrapping the matti verse would indeed be sad, though. Although admittedly, it does simplify things choosing just one universe to write in primarily. The Palmer journal entry would be entertaining to read, I bet. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to the next batch of Laz entries...and dreading my next batch xD.
I'd be very sad if Laz gets screwed like that. You ever read Ctrl-Alt-Del? The web comic? Reminds me of the way this dude Ethan gets screwed over in the end, but worse. Laz deserves better dammit! Although...actually, it'd be fun to have him in cryo prison because seein how Roger dove head first into Tantalus to save Standoff, it seems like a prison break might be in the cards...which would be fun to write about :D
Inaction does seem like it would present fun guilt trips for Laz. Plus a one on one face off would be damn cool. And if Bal ever leaves the military, I'm sure there's a certain Roger controlled PMC that would love to have him xD. I can see Rachel joining Spartan though. She's just angry enough to want to prove them wrong. Maybe I could bring Connor out of retirement and we could do that Rachel/Connor anti friendship we used to talk about.
Oh man, those old RPs. I still remember reading through an entire like 200 page entry for an RP (can't remember the name of it for the life of me) so that I'd be caught up for Kingdom of Broken Hearts. I never got into Well Enough Alone though. And for te life of me can't remember Halo Wars actually. Best RPs though were those old ones, without a doubt.
Well, either way with journal entries or psych interviews, sounds good. It's true we tend to focus on a few of the characters at a time and the rest get forgotten. I'm trying to work with some of my lesser used team (ie Gold) to try and get some more variety. Who knows if it'll work but at least it's an attempt xD. I do need to do some post war Standoff ones that aren't him goin after Leo, though. The old guy needs some variety. And I get the crazy schedule deal. I've been working/swimming ten, twelve hours a day the last week. Painful little self time. Congrats on the b-day though, bud!
The more I think of it, the more I love the prison break idea. It's so quintessential Roger to do something recklessly rebellious and dangerous in order to help a family member. He'll let a Covenant assault carrier fall on a whole city of civilians without caring, but threaten one of his own and he'll move friggin mountains...plus, he's got a grudging respect (not affection, just respect) for all the other class 3s so I assume he'd accept Bal's help. Though maybe Bal should pay him...in a suit of Gen 2 Mjolnir xD.
And the Connor Rachel squad would be a ton of fun to write, too. Might make me miss having Standoff to espouse on how the two of them make such an unlikely but good team (guess that'll have to be Laz's job) as for squad mates...I've got some old Gammas lying around, it we could throw in Gold, or even some of the fours. If it was gold, that'd certainly be an interesting dynamic. Who leads a squad when two of them are old squad leaders and one of the others is a badass?
Oh, KoBH was such a blast. Definitely my favorite RP right up there with Kanna. I still remember when the huge ass flood sinkhole opened up under the battlefield and a few of my 112th guys landed and converted a shiva missile into a ground side nuke then handed it off to 091. Back when he had a squad mate named...Andrea? Can't remember, that was damn long ago. And you know, come to think of it, I don't remember how blood and ashes started out partnership. Care to remind me? And a tribute does sound like fun. It had so much potential it just never got big enough to develop the momentum xD
Now that you remind me, I do know what your talking about. I always have to remind myself you're one of the few vets that are older than me on the site. I mean, it's like you, 091, plus disappeared relentless, rot, and h*bad. I've been here longer than LOMI and Ajax, technically.
And ah, I remember Yu-GI-Oh. That was all the rage...when I was in like second grade :P and honestly, some of the best books are the ones you get randomly. I was at a used book store for funsies and picked up a copy of a book called Patient Zero (think Rainbow Six meets World War Z) and it was a kickass read. That's funny that you're in a tent, as I was in one the night before. Swim retreats...
That reaction actually sounds perfect Roger. I mean, there's a few quirks to his personality, but dialog wise, unless he's talking to Laz, Standoff, or probably Sunef he's easiest described as "that jackass asshole". Fun to write, honestly. You get to say all those mean things you normally hold back on xD. And I like the idea of Laz having a future after the prison break. He's too fun of a character to get rid of! Though it might be fun to have him pursued by some parts of ONI while other parts basically overlook his past problems so that they can throw him against the Prometheans.
I definitely like the gold+Connor+Rachel and Rooke S-IV+Connor+Rachel ideas best. Maybe with the rookie S-IV add in two S-IIIs to contrast? I've kinda gone down the path of the fours thinking of a lot of the threes as weird and threes keeping to themselves. So we could have a squad where the threes are sort of withdrawn to focus up the dynamic of rookie getting pissed on by Rachel while encouraged by Connor and occasionally throwing in three awkwardness.
Oh yeah! Back in the day where we had the like, first come first serve rule as far as programs and names. Me and LOMI got into an issue like that over a snow warthog I remember xD. I like how you got ownership of a Class III team (which basically ended up turning into doing half the stuff for the article xD) but never used that team for anything until Bal. (By the way, I definitely rememember the V5 program--I still have the pictures you had me take for it on my computer xD).
And I believe the planet had a UNSC name...like FT-239 or something similarly bland. I've never gotten the hang of Covenant names in truth...Sagacious Redoubt is quite alright with me. I'd definitely like the squad like that too, especially because it'd be a fun contrast for the Spartan Four to be the one who feels out of place since the Threes are kind of the odd ones out normally. Plus, if they do a stint with Gold, you get a serious Class III reunion and the Four guy can have even more issues. No problems here if you write him. I'm typing up all my updates for Roger. I have things written out all the way to the Battle of Earth, but I'm a bout two years behind that in what I have typed xD. And that includes my favorite over the top Crimson Team moments (Highlights: blowing up an Assault Carrier with nuclear fougasse, dropping a building on a Covie base, hog rushing an Assault Carrier's grav lift). I do like Fireteam Pyre...hmm...Fireteam Ember? I don't know, it just came to me. I can seem some bad puns "We're fireteam Ember. Some teams burn. We're just burnt."
Oh no, I definitely hadn’t forgotten it. I still have a fairly good memory as far as old articles go. I remember some of my early endeavours being just as silly, though. I had a SPARTAN-X program that involved 950 Spartans that were basically all the children of a rebel outpost raided by ONI, who I had all get killed in a single battle. Oh, and an assault rifle with an 180 round magazine and three barrels. Ah, ridiculousness.
I think use both names (one as the UNSC title and the other being like the formal name). And as far as the Roger update’s length…you know me. When I write an article, I write the hell out of it. I’m looking at you, Connor-338. And I like Ember and the journal entries both. I’m going to try and get more journals up myself, soon, seeing as for the moment I can’t work on the Roger update. My laptop battery died---after months of it going and me being to lazy to buy a replacement---so journal entries are about all I can do.
Oh dear god, it is? That's...mildly entertaining xD. It was definitely originally Spartan-IV and was changed I believe on request of someone (not actually sure if it was Ajax or not, it might have been due to a name conflict with an earlier article).
And I'm hoping to have a few journal entries done tommorow, though I'll be going dark for two weeks following that. Eleven day backpacking trip in the New Mexican mountains (a bit of a walk from my native Washington...). On the plus side, all the camp time will be downtime, devoted to reading and writing. So all the Eagle Scout paperwork that I've been finishing the last few days (after procrastination and even a long surgery related extension that allowed me to keep working on it past 18) will be done distracting me and I can write up plenty of journal entries unhindered. I basically hope to get the entirety of Stanford's death entries finished up, to lead into the Roger/Balduin Laz breakout. So I'll be back with a vengeance Aug 2nd.
Why it's insane to pull a Halo version of Infinite Crisis on Infinite Earths...
That is some insane stuff. You're right, I'm not around a whole lot anymore (trying to work on a story that I started but only got partway into the first chapter, so I might reappear soon), but I'm gonna have to look into trying to figure what's going on here more
I like it! I like how the various factions interact, and the collapse of the USE seems logical and plausible. I can't say I've ever really liked the Necros - they seem very Borg/Cybermen to me, which I guess is a trope I see often enough in science fiction. But I love how you've tied their origins potentially to several different ideas! And the transition of SAF to USR is nice! User:Morhek 01:55, August 23, 2013 (UTC)
I'd forgotten I'd written that about the Star Empire - now who's going senile!
As for the Sovereigns, I definitely think they'd approve of the Necros. You remember the theories that the Flood was a superbioweapon that got out of hand? The Sovereigns have the mindset to do it. Not necessarily saying they will, though! :P
I've had some mixed ideas for what to do with them - how explicitly to state whether they're human or not, just how powerful they are, etc. If I get back to them, though, I imagine them being a force that can cut through the galaxy like a force of nature, unstoppable, almost bored at the pathetic resistance humanity and the Covenant races can scramble together. Their only real challenges are the Forerunner defences they breach, and the Paladin forces that pursue them. Truly godlike, and they believe it. They represent the arrogance, contempt and power of the Forerunners and the Paladins are their benevolent, enlightened but a little feeble counterpart, whether they're actually Forerunners or not.
And I'm in the Homestuck fandom, I get a lot of practice with ridiculously silly amalgamated names :P
The real obstacle on "returning" is, firstly, I've got a lot to do - on top of uni work, I've got another project for something else I'm trying to get off the ground. And secondly, I just need to get fired up again - feel that same spark I used to have. It's died down a little, but I imagine it'll be flaring up brightly when the next game is on the horizon. And oddly enough, it wasn't Halo 4 that did it - I thought it was fine. It was the Traviss novels - I just don't like the direction she's taking the Halo universe, even if it is under 343i's supervision, and especially the treatment of Halsey which I've seen as a common complaint.
Don't get me wrong: the more I tried to read it, the more impressive it is what you've tried to accomplish, and tying in Saulosian and FTF ideas wouldn't be too far fetched (though trying to pull in AAO would likely be next to impossible at this point). And your ideas on the Precursors definitely help flesh out some ideas in this Crisisverse, even if I despise 343i's attempts at messing with the Forerunners and (especially) Precursors. (as an aside, my drop in activity is, again, a lot to do with what Morhek just expressed) Although I think it might would help flow better if we had an extremely rough timeline to look at for all of this.
In any case, I'll try to keep an eye on what you're doing, and will hopefully start working on that story like I said. See you around perhaps
Homestuck is something that, if you can endure the slow first act, becomes a grand mythic story. It can be confusing, complicated, sometimes frustrating, but it can also be hilarious, touching and truly epic in the literary sense. But you really need a lot of time set aside to get through it.
I hope a Halo 5 is what Halo 3 should have been - showing the fallout of the civil war, Elites fighting Elites with humans backing one side and the Prometheans backing the other. Vast free-for-alls, confused allegiances, and humans caught in the middle of it. If the Arbiter returns, I'd be ecstatic - not as a weak sidekick either. Either he gets his own levels, or he remains a prominent character in his own right. Really show this as a civil war, show us why the Servants of Abiding Truth split away and how that's affected the rest of their species.
Ya, correct guess on the human subspecies, and what to do with the Bujkowe I would leave completely as your call. I also understand your feelings on the Arctic IV and the Baccusverse, and again that's your call. Personally, as nice as it is to see a giant universal mash-up like this done well, I'm tired of trying to mess with them myself - I've taken to liking "Ultimate" projects a whole lot more
The impression I got was that the Elites were being groomed to fight smarter - fewer ships, no ability to replace any they lose, and now the uncertainty that there may not be an eternal paradise waiting for them when they die in the name of their "gods." But then Halo 4 showed us that the Servants, at least, follow the same old doctrine the old Covenant followed - mass numbers and brute force tactics relying on superior firepower. I would at least hope that the rest of the Elites are changing their tactics because they know that they can't rely on numbers and firepower while humanity brings itself up to date.
I definitely miss Eric Nylund. His books were more traditional sci-fi space opera, rather than political or mythic stories. I don't mind Greg Bear's trilogy - it takes a while to get used to, but for what it is, it works. But I still insist that Fall of Reach and First Strike are the two best novels in the Halo series, not to mention some damn fine science fiction books in their own right. You can make them fit into a trilogy with Ghosts of Onyx, which is also not bad, but they weren't deliberately written as such.He kept it simple - the series after his books overcomplicate things much more than they should be.
Yeah life kind of got crazy. Post backpacking trip I realized I suddenly had a mad scramble to get ready for college. I got on once or twice but never had the time to sit and write anything of substance. Thank you for giving me reading material though! Now I have something that will distract me from these studies...well, one more thing. College is college after all :P
Hmm, talk of Laz reignites all those old ideas. I believe I'll have to throw journal updates into the mix myself before too long. I sort of wonder what the Leonid/Laz dynamic would be in SPARTAN-V, given the fact that they've retroactively tried to kill each other. Hawkward o.O. And I feel you deeply on the stats course. I've gone into my college undeclared with an interest in sociology, so of course I was thrown into an Elementary Stats course, an Intro to Ed course with required field experience, and no sociology classes at all. Interesting stuff, at least, on the bright side. And archive? Seems like a good plan xD.
this took forever to respond to because I too took a summer hiatus haha. But I would totally be up for writing Contagio again, I have sort of an outline of how it pans on on SPARTAN-G024 so I'd need to rewrite my chapters to fit in with what I put in the article. ALSO HELLO MATT! Joshua (Talk) (Contribs) 20:53, September 5, 2013 (UTC)
You know, that's an excellent question. I think I might have, yes, because that lets me keep the crazy "silent killers on the field, social party boys off the field" vibe that Lambda has. Plus, Connor is already noted to hate Leonid, so it's sort of like the commander is hated by all of his subordinates but elements of both him and his lower downs get imparted into the V's. Plus, Roger is the one who was the closest to Standoff (although I guess Gold is pretty close to him too...) so I don't know if it'd be as big of a problem as say, having Leonid working with Roger.
And yes, but I've never found a real good fit. I think of Roger's voice most easily, cause it's the voice of Sev from Republic Commando. I mean, I did steal a bunch of quotes from him xD. For Leonid, I think of traits more than specific actors I guess. Someone very hard voiced, maybe a tint of russian accent, but also sort of forgettable and chilling. Hard combo to match up xD
Ooooooh...right. Now that I think about it, I believe theres a Roger quote floating around out there that's basically him bitching about being back in a military role, cause the pay was so good. I think I envisioned the UNSC hiring him for S-V because he was just that damn good xD. So...hmm...there'd definitely be some serious tension there. Not sure how that'd play out honestly.
And yeah, Sev's guy did some stuff for BF2. Announcer for the clones. Me and my buddies always thought that was a cool touch, seeing as Republic Commando and BF2 were practically our combined childhood. And as far as the other actor, maybe...but hmm, in my mind, I actually think of a sort of no name-ish actor. You've seen the Dark Night Rises? You remember Bane's chief henchman? He played a bad guy on a shortlived sort of cheesy tv show about a family that ends up with super powers, and I was always a fan of him. Not sure how attached I am to a russian accent, honestly, because that sort of thing would be noticeable and part of Leonid's skillset is being very nondescript when he needs to be. And yes, I saw the timeline. I'm looking forward to the coverage of the HCW!
You know, that's a seriously good idea! Plus it would give us a chance to extend the Ares Logs into the later era. I think it would fit really well with Roger's character. He is loyal to Laz after all---and that means he's like Wookie life-debt loyal. If Laz asked him to do that, particularly with his probably already burning hatred towards Leo, he'd totally do it. Hmm, maybe I could work in a "last words of Standoff" thing to him where the old colonel asked him to watch out for his other Class III's still stuck in the military...
And yeah, good old Seamus! That's from way back in the day xD. Do you rememeber the Section Zero article when it had nothing but three listed operatives? (And they were two of mine and Seamus?) xD. Or is it still like that?
And yes, that dude xD. He played like a telepathic villain with a classy side and he was all kinds of badass.
Apologies for the late reply. Saw your message days ago but college life man...college life xD. Mostly running and homework. Anyway, really liking the additions to the M-verse. It's quite the collection of interesting and interconnected reading! My go to source for my universe now xD. And I like the journal entries and messages! I'm actually working on a hard copy, story into to the final chapter of Standoff's life right now (I think I'll end up incorporating audio log style stuff as well as more journal entries, but a story is a fun change up addition) telling exactly how he got involved with the hunt for Leonid (ok, well, the day of his recruitment).
Well, some of us young folk are brand new freshman and just bitch about it out of habit xD. And tests...mmm don't even want to go there. And swollen ego? Doubtful. I hope :P Your massive universe just appeals to my infamous passion for ordering things (lists of SPARTAN-II's come to mind...). And I'm fairly happy with it so far. It has angry Standoff, whose just a lot of fun to write.
So I don't know if you saw, but I've put up the first of the Standoff journal entries. More are coming, of course, and I've finished writing out one of the three Standoff death saga stories I have planned with about half of the next one down (they still need to be typed, but one thing at a time). You may notice that Standoff gets a fair bit disillusioned with Laszlo. As I was writing, I realized it felt like Standoff was in too good of a place to just throw his life away. So...I made the poor guy suffer. I'm going to slowly get him isolated and more and more convinced that his last real tie to life is taking out Leonid, so that when he drops onto the field, he puts that ahead of everything else.
On another sad note, I was thinking Roger might do something guilt inducing. Roger never really gave up his easy access to Standoff's journal, and when he hears the Colonel died, I think I'm going to have him read through it and forward it to Laszlo. So Laz can read all the tumultuous thoughts in Standoff's mind and it'll sort of further instill him with a vengeance to take down Leonid, both out of anger and a bit of guilt. Sound appropriately evil?
I've just had the bug hit me all of a sudden, I believe. The idea finally went from just an idea into a passion when I got the ball rolling. Although, I have run into the annoying need to add in like three or four more journal entries than I thought I would need in order to bridge some of the time gaps. And man, finding new ideas when you're in the midst of another big one is hard xD.
Speaking of that laughing mad moment, I think that'd be an excellent trial for Laszlo to go through. Imagining nice, cheery, sociable Laz going a little crazy and getting distant and maybe unusually harsh (yes, I mostly did just quote the tv tropes description =P) would be very fun. Maybe I'll need to start a Roger or a Gold Team journal to chronicle how much they get freaked out by Laz losing his shit (or maybe Connor...the kid basically isn't doing anything). And nah, not messed up. Just interested in the struggle of the whole thing. (So maybe real writers after all, introducing actual character conflicts...).
And oh my god, I think I squee'ed a little at that. I believe I see some traces of my own work in that list ;P. I'll have to check it against my last list of S-II's. That last ones a little old but I don't think there've been many big changes since Naomi. Maybe once I crank out a few more journal entries though. They're addictive.
That is, indeed, a lot of ideas. I want to do more Roger stuff, always want to include more Gold and Standoff, expand on Sunef for sure, more stuff related to the Spartan Fours....many things. Don't know when/if I'll ever get to them, but I think imagining is good regardless. Keeps them creative juices flowing.
And I'm digging the journal entry. I'll double time my Standoff work so that you get an opportunity to revise it and put it on the Ares Logs page (though if you want to put up a rough estimate, for reference, Standoff is going to bite it in December of 2560). And I like the idea of Connor and Laz both finding out, as well as look forward to that audio log of Rachel and Bal. The Ares Logs page needs more of them. I'm trying to think about how to fit Connor in all this too, in a more significant way, but am running into the road block of not wanting to revise his article too much (impossible to change everything, given the length, plus I don't want to delete it all and give up my crown jewel in lengthy articles). Maybe relegating him to the background is for the best. And as for Gold and their pension request, they're sneaky tikes. Wait and see ;P
And pretty much same here. It's the collaborative nature of an RP with way more focus, planning, coherent storylines, and general less chaos. I definitely want to hear Dean's side of things. He's sort of a bridge between Laszlo's complete steeped-ness in spartan and Standoff's more traditional military background I think.
Did you see Introductions, also? My first actual portrayal of Standoff in a story...he's, scarily, incredibly easy to write. Does that mean I'm a closet cynic? xD. I'm sort of staggering out my stuff now. I've got an article too write (Operation: SKADI) to sum up the Spartan investigation (gonna include some VORAUSSICHT, SUNSHINE style transcripts in that, along with the four Op: Skadi stories you can see in the template), have to type up Job Offers (it's Rogers big debut! He was much harder to write than Standoff. Being an ass is a little harder for me to do, thankfully), then do the journal entries leading up to Standoff's death (three of them, with one very long one), and finally, finish One Last Tie. It's sort of sad honestly :'(
I liked the Laszlo vs. Dean interaction quite a bit, actually. Especially how Dean stood up to Laz a bit. Very clearly his own man, that one (plus, the references to the references of Crimson making little shits of themself always makes me smile). The card game was really well done, too. You play Mass Effect 3's Citadel DLC? It really strongly reminded me of one of the very last scenes of it. Plus you had Bashir psychoanalzying people...which, given the (extensive) mental issues of the training staff, probably needs to happen more often.
Oh, and any time you want to make Standoff name puns again, DO IT.
Nah, I'm sure you'll measure up! My secret lately has been write it out in a paper copy, so that way it keeps my prose from getting any flowerier than it already is (I'm lazier on paper since writing is harder) and then type it up, editing as I go. Done that for every one of my stories on here, actually (well, all my modern ones...Beta Red, Legends, Pursuit, and Introductions, plus all the BLUE NIGHTS and SUNSHINE stuff). I actually had an idea though, for the post Laz hunt, when Bal and Roger break him out. I was thinking we could both write every other chapter, from our perspective character's perspective, letting the other person edit to get the dialogue just right. It'd be complicated but it sounded like fun.
Now that you mention it, I'm not sure. I kind of pictured the Laz/Leo confrontation as a solely Laz vs. Leo faceoff, with Roger only coming into the fray afterwards when him and Bal break Laszlo out of prison. As for how to find him, that's an excellent question. I think it'd be better to have it be a quick hunt, rather than a prolonged one, so as to have Laz at peak craziness with no time to cool off and think things through. Maybe a devil's pact with CHAUCER would be a good idea, in that case. He's a great plot device for knowing Leonid's location offhand, seeing as he's generally a step ahead of MONTAGUE and Standoff both, so maybe have Laz make a straight deal with him to get the location in exchange for doing CHAUCER's dirty work and killing him. CHAUCER's pragmatic, I think. He'd value getting rid of Leonid in a way that really couldn't trace back to him.
And maybe none of the above, just perpetually (and unjustly) unsatisfied with your work? Blanking, rewrites, and frequent desires to get rid of well written characters come to mind :P and thats understandable. I first got into Mass Effect playing a friend's copy who was living with me at the time, else I never would have (admittedly, I did play through once then immediately play through a second time buying every single piece of DLC released...). I can sympathize with lack of xbox. I live about two hours away from home now, didn't bring my xbox (that'll be corrected in three weeks when I return from fall break) and think I'm getting the shakes. Drinking my coke replacement drug, I do have to disagree. I loved extended cut, and the feeling that none of the endings were all that happy. I wanted a happy ending, wanted my Shepard to get to settle down with Tali back on Ranak, but I think that wasn't for the best. Although my personal selfishness has kicked in on more than one play through to make me kill all synthetics in exchange for Shepard making it out alive...
We can tentatively make that the plan, then. It'll be a while before we get to it, of course, but it can be there, stewing and developing in the back of our minds. I think you've got a good plan, doing Laz vs. Leo in story, and I can edit the Leonid dialogue. He's a tough character for even me to right (I killed a Requiem story with him in it a while ago after three pages because I didn't feel like it was really capturing him correctly). And I think as far as reaction goes, outlining things, Leonid would be very cold, let Laz make the first move, and then fight with the deadliest efficiency imaginable.
And oh, that does make sense xD. I think the CHAUCER would be the best option, letting Laz keep the length of the chase down and retain peak craziness. And maybe when Laz gets broken out by Roger and Bal, they could even all go after CHAUCER (instead of leaving him be). Or not. We can figure it all out once we get there I feel. And hmm...after all that, I think I'd be inclined to agree with the perfectionism. Although that story issue might be more...confused, crazy, random ness. Just my interpretation :P
And as far as Mass Effect's ending, I do see your side of things. It definitely caught me out of nowhere the first time, and they could have been a hell of a lot more upfront about things. Still, I appreciate the difficulty they had to go through to make the ending. They might not have gone about it the best way, but at the same time, I wonder if there even is a good way to end it. There was so many things that went into the series, so much you could take from it, that it's hard to get it right. I mean, for me personally, so much of Mass Effect was wrapped up in the relationships I had with the characters. So with the first ending, I was very dissapointed because it left their fates up in the air. Then when they came out with the extended cut, and I got to see where all my friends ended up, it really went a long way to fixing the problems I had with the ending. And the rest of the game was so damn good...
And you know, I noticed that a while ago, and I've been sort of putting it off. Creating the character entirely through his journals and conversations and not getting tied down with the article's description. Then he got so big and so complex and so important to me that I didn't feel like I could write an article that could do him justice. Now I'm putting it off while I write other stuff. And find an image that will convey him properly.
Personally, I think the Rachel/S-IV combo would be sweet. Granted, that's me, with my fondness for Ares types, but Rachel's pretty dang central. Seem's like she should get some story time dedicated to her. And I kind of helped with the Ember S-IV so...call that one curiosity to see how he turns out xD.
And yes, agree to disagree on the ending :P though now that I think about it some more, it makes no sense from a narrative standpoint, but Citadel DLC really should have been the ending. It made up for it in it's own way, for me. Tying together all those members of the cast, giving them a proper final send off. Not to mention being damn funny while it was doing it xD. I think a lot of game companies run into trouble when they try and get fancier than they naturally are. I kind of wonder if that's why Reach bugged me. Great gameplay, design, polish, but the story felt jumpy and like the artsy or deep elements were sometimes shoehorned in. ODST, which was more basic, achieved artsy almost by accident.
And it would be a drain, but I'm now seriously adding it to the list, cause I found an image of Standoff I like very much...and I feel the need to use it before some other article has it for a character. And no, I don't. Are they acting wonky? I hadn't noticed, other than one of my messages not showing up before you archived and having to use the old Sig instead of my new one.
But...but...Scott... my name sake! Nooooooooo! That would actually work pretty well, though, truth be told. I might need to overhaul the Fireteam Romeo article if they're going to roll with heavy weights like Connor and Rachel and Mario, though. Although then they'd be one of those weird gross five man teams...hmm. I do have Scott as a company leader in Necrosverse, though. Maybe just...maim him? Cassandra style? So Connor has to step up cause Scott's totally about to die, and is the stand in leader? Maybe that'd work even better. Maya and Jason will not just dislike him for replacing Scott, but also not totally respect him as they feel he's just a stand in. Then we can have all the same reactions with the constant (if Scott was here, he'd do this) but without any sadness, so anger can come out a little more with nothing to tie it down. Sound good?
And...umm...I'm not...actually...sure. I think I'm using the default one? It's been so long since I configured my settings I can't remember. I've run into that thin strip thing before but aren't now, so I'm not sure. And yeah, I think just hitting the standard sig limit on a page.
I really need to type up all the hand-written Roger article updates I have. Him and Crimson do some very crazy, shitty, awesome things in their travels...my favorite is either the dropping of an assault carrier on a populated city to save their own ass (mentioned in the story) or dropping of a skyscraper on a covenant base as a shield breaker. They umm...like dropping things. And writing Sunef was way easier and more fun than Roger. Plus I have an excuse to make a character whose quirky as hell (picking the dead, etc.) because I gotta show he's a weirdo (because you'd have to be a very weird elite to become a mercenary and partner with a human, I think). Although, I'm admittedly sad you deleted him and shelved the idea. You could have taken the Elite angle a different way. Have him be like super pro-Arbiter in his motivation, instead of just societally non-functioning like Sunef. We could have done a team up! That would be...interesting xD.
And I'll be waiting anxiously for it. Right now, I'm on audio log writing, fleshing out Op: SKADHI. Trying to one a day (fingers crossed, meaning one will be up today). And as for the Hungarian word, it felt really natural for Roger to use it. Laz is Hungarian but represses it a tiny bit I feel like, while at the same time quietly taking pride in it (at least thats what I got) and he seems very Kal Skirta to clone commandos. I can see him quietly infusing a little of his culture into some of the ones he's closest too. I also really wanted a distinctive word to cover Roger's little sphere of loyalty. Family is a little cliche and a little to narrowly defined, friends doesn't cover it, and felt like, seeing as Laz is basically the first outsider ever inside Roger's loyalty bubble, the word should come from him.
Hmm, I could see the Cassandra angle working. It'd be entertaining as hell to see her maybe try and convert an Elite Bishop Peregrino style (Speaker for the Dead reference, check). Plus, then you could have yet another story thread to interlink! And the SKADHI Logs are my daily indulgence while I pad time and wait to write the Standoff end story. Gotta get started on that one, but I want to flesh out the background events first. Did you read the...Jacky with Olson one? Completely ridiculous, but I like the idea of the Class III's being a little crazy in odd ways. Kickass fighters, and just not quite normal. Fun contrast with the IVs.
And Rookie...ok, that was awesome. Loved the way it blended multiplayer with in universe stuff in the war games, as well as how Rachel naturally destroyed the competition. The Connor/Rachel dynamic was very entertaining, and I liked how you drew the little details of all the characters in! Very good descriptions, too---the way you described the fours from the simulator was awesome. Favorite of all had to be Mario though. He's so damn earnest, and it shows in everything---his misconceptions coupled with his accuracies are a great combo.
Hmm, I'll keep that in mind when I'm writing Roger in the future. He's the character of mine that's closest (I like to also think Roger thinks even more highly of Laszlo than he thinks he does, and he already thinks he thinks Laszlo is the shit, if that makes sense). And Travis...meh. I loved RC, and Gears, as well as her Evolutions story. The new series feels hit and miss though. Parts of it are just awesome and kickass, and then other parts seem contrived or lessen the appeal of the universe as a whole. And maybe Rachel could use hungarian swear words? Seems to fit her personality ;P
And as far as the Class III's, V's, and törzs, I'm not sure. Connor I know will come to be super paternal towards them and imbue them with carefree off the battlefield, and Gold will....hmm, maybe contribute to that, seeing as how they're normalized/crazy during the Standoff hunt. Roger...I don't know. I'm tempted to make it just a job for him. As far as Ex-Ops goes, when he expands it, I have it in my head that Sunef is törzs, but none of his employees are. They're just (very well paid) assets to be used. Though I can see him recruiting out of that context. V's would be better than his current hired help, probably.
You...haven't heard of Speaker for the Dead!?!?!?!
GO TO A BOOKSTORE.
BUY. READ. NOW.
Ok, better. It's a book in the Ender series (Ender's Game? Heard of it? Amazing book. Best book. Favorite book.) and deals with some awesome stuff. Also has a Catholic bishop prosetlzying to some aliens. Lots of fun. It would help with that probably, or if you want, I can help quite a bit (Catholic upbringing...grade school...high school...college...). It's a...convoluted religion. Lots of terminology. I don't envy the untrained person trying to understand it.
And that's probably my favorite one as well. It was the one where things flowed best and clicked for me. Got into the swing of the story, so to speak. Captures that Standoff is at heart sort of just a normal guy, but that he's been shaped by events into what he is now. I feel like Bradford is a bit of what Standoff would have been in another life. Though favorite charaterization is stammering Olson. Feels like writing angry/confuzzled Agent Washington from RvB.
Hmm, I'm of the opposite opinion; I think the war games was actually acutely neccessary. Totally defines Rachel, shows (rather than telling as I'm so prone to doing) how she's better than the S-IVs. Without it, she would have just seemed arrogant and full of herself. Now she's arrogant but shown to clearly be able to back it up. An thinking brute indeed. Lots of analysis of how the battle's going on. Good characterization.
Hmm, I would recommend reading them, because they are good reads. They're good, I think, for all the bad that's been said about them. I liked them, anyway (especially Thursday War). Hmm. Hungarian Swear words...sounds...guttural.
Hmm. I'd have to think. I'm sure Roger would see the MJOLNIR part as just a business deal, and have the same "me and laszlo first" attitude, at least during the Op. He's kind of included people in his close circle when they did something to prove loyalty to him kind of without prompting, without anything to like even include Roger happening. Standoff stealing for the recruits without telling them, for example. Laszlo putting them first, his team protecting him in the breakout. So maybe Bal would go back for Roger or something. Maybe try to think up something less cliche, but same idea.
You should check it out...tommorow. Take a bus or something or a car to a bookstore and buy it. And it's definitely not a very PC thing to ask, which is weird, but eh...I am, I got all them religious education to top it off. And I could definitely proofread some stuff.
Yeah, you haven't been following the new ones? You used to be such an RvB guy though! (custom sig and everything :P). I definitely remember when he was called Lavernius and had Section I tech skills and recovered AIs. I believe I even incorrectly called Laszlo Lavernius once after the name change because I wasn't caught up yet. And as for Mounty Oum fights....YES. I sort of picture Freelancer-esque fights for the Spartan on Spartan combat I've written about (AKA, Leonid in BLUE NIGHTS and nothing else...).
And...the research. I could immerse myself so easily. Throw out random hungarian insults...ooh, in my shitty american fake russian accent. That'd be the proper cultural cluster foxtroting, I believe. 'MERICA!
Hmm. See, try as I might, I never can seem to shake my halo love. I fall behind on RvB sometimes, but always know what's going on with Halo. Hell, I even disappear off here from time to time, and lurk on Halopedia, because I've got no ideas or am too tired to write. Mass Effect claimed me for a while (ok, more than a while, I've got probably 350 hours into that game---six characters all the way through all games) but the lore didn't draw me in the way Halo does (in Mass Effect, the characters take precedence for me---I could give or take the story, sometimes, but the characters make it amazing and so immersive. If the mass effect writers could take a shot at the halo verse...oooh, I don't think I'd ever leave my house). And I'm in the same boat with Leonid, sorta. He's up to date in parts but out of date in others. Roger is my only character that's totally up to date with everything, I would say (though as far as articles go, I'm not bad---Ares Logs is up to date, plus BLUE NIGHTS, SUNSHINE, and SKADHI, all my recent work). And maybe given him two middle names, rather than take away Hoban. I know where it comes from, and don't want to see it lost ;P
And...hmm....one wonders about the kind of security RT has on Monty...
I honestly fanboy hard thinking about how awesome it would be. Stick you on a Prowler in the post war period and let you have adventures all over the galaxy. Recruit a mixed bag crew, go on missions, hell, start as a marine and in the opening mission prove yourself and become a Spartan. Do all sorts of crazy stuff with an awesome cast. I think it could be epic. And that way, they don't have to think of an involved ending, because the universe is still moving!
And well, I would get rid of the non meaningful one before ditching reference, but that's up to you. I just really like Wash and Firefly references (see the locations in all of Job Offer).
And...that's sounds epic! It was always a shame I never got into it and the Greece half kind of died. Some of the others parts (the stuff Ahalosniper did in particular) were balls to the wall awesome. Would it be a collaborative thing or solo you think? (And are you gonna use some of the dialogue already written?)
Hmm, I'm not sure I want to imagine it, because it'll make me so sad it's not for real. Then again...you could have a Miranda-esque ex-ONI officer, a washout Spartan with experimental recovery upgrades whose a little crazy (Isla Zane style) like Jack, an ODST whose name is Garrus, whose voiced by Garrus, and who acts like Garrus (basically, he IS Garrus---any oppurtunity presentable to include Garrus, I think should be taken. It could also tie into old, disparate parts of the fiction like the squad from ODST, or like the cast of Kilo-5, or like some of the Nylund S-II's, or like Grey Team, showing them again without having to devote an entire game to them. Hmm, you're certainly right about it giving ideas for articles. Now I want to make an ODST whose into...calibrations. Speaking of Mass Effect, though, I think I decided on a face for Standoff. Missing an eye and everything. Has that...grizzled look to it, too. I give you...Standoff in a suit!
You haven't seen Firefly? Good god, for the love all of all things holy and halo, WATCH IT! It's on Netflix (or other less reputable file sharing places, of course, but I don't much use those). It's something you can definitely read about and think is cool (I've been on the Firefly wiki plenty...) but you have to watch it to get the full effect. The music, the accents, the themes, all of it combining. Can't quite get it just from reading.
And you know, it may be a blessing in disguise, not having to coordinate too big of a group of people. A smaller group allows for way more coordination and also I think motivates people to keep up better. It doesn't feel so overwhelming when everyone posts their stuff and entries are more focuses and edited. Kinda like VORAUSSICHT. That got to be so damn long in no small part to SpecOps having a bunch of other users contribute (although we've almost got him beat I think with Ares Logs---and that was just us. Score!). And yeah, looking at old work always inspires a bit of an...editing desire with me too. Especially dialogue. If mine in the RP holds up, it's probably only cause I spent so damn long getting the post up, and even then it was super short.
And honestly, both options have appeal. The Flood are always a wild card and with the whole Promethean, Storm bent lately, haven't been getting enough loving of their own. But then again, it would be neat to see the disunion within the Elites (from all the official post war stuff) represented during the battle. Although, as an idea, if you did do the Flood, I thought of a fun tie in I could do to BLUE NIGHTS. In the article, it mentions how Echo-9 anonymously released a bunch of their stored data on the Flood to the UNSC during the Battle of Earth, and I can see a major infestation in Athens (with no Separatist fleet or Master Chief there to stop it) being a good motivator for said release.
And yeah, they head to Africa after Greece and...if I remember right, get shot down on the way to Voi and fight across a nice chunk of the continent. Basically, they start their Africa sojourn a week and a half before the Seperatists arrive over Voi. So...November 7th.
You bring shame, sir, to yourself and all who know you. Garrus is like the Master Chief. A legend unto himself. HE SHAN'T BE FORGOTTEN! Ok, with that out of my system, do watch it, and tell me your own thoughts. People I've run into who I've introduced (and myself, to be honest) have a tendency to watch one episode...then subsequently watch like six more in a row. And it was on just long enough to get you totally hooked and teased. Fox Bastards...
And I know! We win the non-existent competition for long articles! Ok, well don't win. We're competitive. Ok, well you're competitive and don't win. I already won. Connor is still like a 100,000 bytes above VORAUSSICHT...it's ridiculous. Utterly so.
And hmm, if I was trying to help make a decision...go with Flood. Combat against them can be such a different atmosphere that it totally changes things up. Covenant with different loyalties are interesting, but they don't fight in a totally alien, bizzare, and creative way like the Flood can. My two cents, for if you get to the point where you definitively want to choose between one or the other. The option with all the characters sounds the best overall. And maybe three days is a little short, true, but this is the Covenant we're talking about. Earth is pretty damn hard to defend, even with the S-MACs. Covie ships get past the orbital line, and the main defense is useless, cause it's too devastating to use on an area where civilians could be anywhere near (or you know, where you want to maintain a liveable surface). If it means having space for more content though...go with the longer period. Crimson's on a pretty tight timetable the whole battle anyway. They do a lot. They can afford to only be in Greece for a little while.
Noble American...funny joke there :P And by golly, yes. That's a damns sexy sig. I wonder if I should make a new one for myself...I've had this one forever. It's so damn nice though. Decisions, decisions...And as for Connor's article, I don't really either. I sat down on a train one day writing it (which, scarily enough, I now realize was...almost five years ago. WTF...) and it just spiraled mercilessly out of control.
Well, you could go with a Halo Wars explanation, pre-fab bases and factories grav lifted into place by transport ships. The covies could wreck with their initial fleet, have that set up a teleportation spire, and then the spire starts bringing in construction ships and all sorts of baddies. And...mmm, gotta go with Assault Carrier. They've stolen cruisers before, so they'll want to top themselves. I'm thinking maybe that their orders might be to destroy and they decide to joy ride instead...
Mass Effect references...grr...making me want to play. And I can't :( (granted, because if the Xbox is on, it's either being used for Lego Star Wars---and come on, it's Lego Star Wars, that shit's important---or by my girlfriend...to strugg---I mean, play, Mass Effect 1. She's still getting the hang of moving the camera up and down...
Hmm, maybe not change, but perhaps update the stuff my Sig links too. Some of it is old. And it doesn't include any of my new (read: better) work! No 48 Rounds, no BLUE NIGHTS, not even Ares! And we've been working on Ares for...hell, two or three years now.
And the 27th sounds good! I'll make a note of that in my Roger article notes. First priority once I'm done with SKADHI is to get the Roger update rolled out. I've got a large amount written but not typed, so that's easy work. That way, once classes start again (on a week long fall break, which, oddly enough, is why I have less time for writing and have gotten off my once a day updates) I can write the final story of SKADHI (I like to do a first draft on paper then type up the final) during my easier, boring classes, and spit out updates on a daily basis again. Just have to get through one more SKADHI log and one very long Standoff journal entry. The last :'(. But anyway, I also like the AI idea. Be a good way to showcase how Crimson in unfeeling towards the Covenant. Could contrast Rachel being perhaps mistrustful of the AI out of a bit of Covie hate, against Crimson royally not giving a shit. Plus it does make stealing the carrier more plausible. It's one thing to blow up a ship. It's another to actually drive it. Refer to Star Wars Episode III for that point (the Lego Star Wars is in my brain, man...
Hmm, you are missing a serious element of childhood then. Plus those Lego games...just the best mindless entertainment. It's great xD. And that SKADHI log was one of my favorites yet. I've got all these character relationships in my head and it's fun to see them in practice. Jacky and Elias are a fun counter intuitive friendship, sort of dissimilar from Standoff and Gale. And I'm looking forward to any updates you get up. It'll be fun to get back to the Battle of Earth and some of the old war stuff. I've been doing post war for a while and seems like a lot of people are too. A little variety is great. And as far as the AI, I can see a Delta style AI being very entertaining. Maybe a sarcastic Delta...does that work, though?
Oh yeah, SotF. First time putting a character in, so I'll see how it goes. Very entertaining. And as far as Delta being sarcastic, I definitely remember. Right from the start in Out of Mind, he's even a little sarcastic. Or witty. "I was registering an emotion, but incorrectly classified it as stupidity". And I bet you can do witty. Witty is easiest too with insults, I find. So maybe throw in a lot of Covenant insults. That'd be good.
Glad you liked them! Cause there's going to be a bit of a break in SKADHI while I finish writing the conclusion to it. Roger updates instead xD. And Standoff...I actually got really sad writing that. Wrote it on the train and went through three rewrites (normally the Standoff entries don't have a single one) and the third one was pretty much...just sadly rereading through. I don't know if I'll ever write another Standoff one again. Not looking forward to the end of One Last Tie...
And as for DIVINE SON, epic! The combat log was especially really well done. Admittedly looking forward to seeing a freighter crash though... (;

Hey Matt, nice to hear from you again! Thanks for re-inviting me to Dwindling Flame. I'm a little swamped with wiki projects right now, but if all you need for me to do is submit characters and occasionally make posts, I think I can squeeze it into my time. Just let me know what kind of crowd you're looking for and I'll see if I can find some suitable characters.
It's pretty fun to write, so I'm hoping that means it's good. And it is kind of nice to have a character with a set path. He has his role, his story, and it's played out. I feel like I've actually told the beginning of a proper story xD. And Leonid did have a death when he was first created, but it got kind of murky when he was incorporated into Necros. Had no idea how that was going to play out (still don't, for that matter, like four years later...). And after that...hmm, let's see. Probably do some Connor stuff, maybe some more with Granite and Gold (the pairing is fun to write), revamp Leonid's history, revamp parts of Connor's history, make a proper Standoff article, and probably add a few service reports to SKADHI like at the bottom of the Ares Logs
The idea has crossed my mind a few times...or a few dozen xD. My real wonder is whether or not it will ever actually even start. And that's true, but a lot of them did leave while waiting for it to start. It's really too bad, because it really did have epic potential...though the new RP looks interesting as well. I need to spend some time checking that one out I think.
And I never seem to run out of things to do xD. My biggest source of inactivity is the same as always---my Xbox xD. I finally got it hooked up in my dorm and running XBL and it's a considerable time sink. Still have classes for writing, though xD. (It's gotten bad how few notes I take in some of them...). And after I finish my current crop of stuff, I think I may do the same. Maybe come up with some characters that aren't SPARTANs or expand on some of my old ones (I always loved the 112th Naval Squadron, but they're looking dated).
And btw, you should do Olympian Logs. Logs are my reading crack.
Oh wow, I completely forgot about those two. It's been too long since I wrote a Vadam Legacy. Yeah, I think Isto would work for your purposes, although now that I think about it, I'd want Atsu 'Hidal to be doing something in DIVINE SON as well. I don't have a great sense of premise with the whole story yet so I'm open to any suggestions you have :)
Yeah, or a beta version of some new RP concept. Some wild west in space deal Ajax is doing where you pick your character and assign them stats and have them do missions all over. I was going to use Roger in it, but I've since been sidetracked. Still, it looks interesting. And well...not really xD. It's a pretty nice school (I got in because in spite of mediocre grades, I'm a damn good test taker---I don't know if you take a variation of the SAT or any other standardized aptitude test, but I rocked that so got some nice scholarships) but also has core classes it requires. Some of them are stuff I've done a number of times before (my High School was college prepatory...). And I just wonder where to even begin with the 112th...what to keep. That timeline of battles has to stay, I know that for certain, but everything else...
Oooh, I also did like Ronald Church. RvB ODSTs for the win! Church would seriously make an interesting instructor, but I can see it working in a very, very good way. But yeah, no rush. This is all just on the backburner. Don't let it distract you too much---because I want to see more DIVINE SON, sir!
Sounds like a plan. Although in AAO, Isto 'Vadum is subordinate to Atsu 'Hidal. Not saying we have to do that in DIVINE SON, but it'd just be weird for me to have it reversed. Maybe Atsu could be in a separate chain of command instead? I don't know how big this RP will be, so it's just a suggestion.
Yeah, the Vadam Legacies and the characters in them were what got me most of my awards. Though at the moment, I'm taking a break from AAO to work on a smaller expanded universe, as well as my off-site Lion King series. Which, as you correctly deducted, I am indeed a fan of. I'm glad you like my sig, I have this one too :P
Hmm, I haven't seen it. Haven't watched nearly as much tv as I should I think xD.
And the name of it was Hammer Fall, I remember now. As far as I can tell, proper RP'ing hasn't started yet, so it's probably still plenty early to get in on the action if you feel so inclined.
And it doesn't much surprise me standardized college tests aren't quite as important over there as here. We're so focused on standardized testing its a little ridiculous. I've done a fair bit of reading on it related to my education stuff, and it's a really not good. We use standaridzed tests more than basically every other nation, often without a real understanding of what they're even supposed to do. Use them as a crutch. But maybe I shouldn't complain, seeing as the only reason I got into my school is that I'm a good test taker (I got two perfect scores on the reading section of the SAT). That, lifeguarding, and *almost* eagle scout are what pad my resume xD.
And I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I think I'll definitely use your academy when I do get there, though. I've got one on Luna but it'd be nice to have some variety in each of the pilots backgrounds. Plus, yay for cross connectivity!
So for DIVINE SON, can I add a few entries then too? Probably related to the Crimson/Rachel mission to take over the assault carrier. I feel like we've discussed this but I can't remember...
Huh, you've really thought this through. I never paid extremely close attention to the Sangheili chain of command, although for AAO I did take a few liberties in re-organizing it for post-war purposes. Whatever you just said sounds good, as long as I get to establish that Atsu is of a higher status than Isto during the RP. Which should be no problem.
As for this Lion King series, I've already four of the stories and am on the fifth, if you want to find the links, they're in this table here. If they catch your interest, reviews would be highly appreciated since I know you're a good writer (even if you don't have a ffn.net account, you can still leave anonymous reviews).
I'm betting it's likely the only tv shows I've seen that you haven't are Castle and Firefly, actually xD. Always just played Xbox instead of watching TV---unless it was a family activity, of course, in which case I was obligated. I'm getting a bit of a television education here, though, with a new girlfriend who has a netflix account. There are so many shows on that place o.O
Same here. An RP sounds like a time drain...and I've got so many projects I want to do xD
Oh yes. We've got some weird beliefs, some dumb practices, and some kind of contradictory beliefs. But we've also got the most money on Earth. So suck it, Europe!
And first things first, I commend your planning, sir! It's all laid out, this should work well. I think I'll start by converting the chapter to Log format (that should be easy) then write up a prologue for how Crimson get's there (their perspective on the ship crash should me mighty entertaining). I think I can get those done this weekend---I've got four hours of train rides ahead of me where I'll be by myself, and the train is great for writing. If I get those done and have extra time, I'll start on other stuff. If not, I'll leave it to you---or me, later down the line, if I'm still ahead of the game. Sound good?
Oh Lordy xD that one made me wince xD. And I'm the king of bad puns...
Damn, what sort of test is that for? I thought 4 hour tests were bad. How does one even study for that much material...? But anyway, no problem, tis my pleasure. Otherwise I'd be sitting on the train bored out of my gord (or unproductively building stuff in mine craft...)
So, the majority of tests are that long? Are these midterm or finals? The only sorts of tests I've taken that are that length are the big standardized ones. Although you, overthinking an answer? I can't imagine it at all ;P. And I don't get what's so bad about mircoeconomics xD. That's interesting stuff right there. Stats on the otherhand...any hatred you have, I can top. Oh, and by the way, got the DIVINE SON re-transcript up, and also put up an update on Roger-341 you might want to glance at. It's the one with Herald in it. If you see anything needs changing, let me know.
That is...strange and baffling o.O. How long do you generally spend on each course? That, in a strange way, seem's like it would work pretty well. Retention of material seems like it'd be easier if you only have one class to focus on at a time. But you'd have to cover so much material so quickly I would think? And I get that, though. Certain classes can be fine, just not as fine. It's a valid distinction. And thank you! I might try and crank out the next one today, depending on what gets done when. I'm writing out my next Roger update and also taking all of Standoff's journal entries and formatting them so that I can put them in a word doc and have them look roughly the same as how they do on page (I'm going to be printing them out this weekend---where I'll have access to free ink and paper ;)---for someone to read. That's a...long endeavor, though. I may need breaks from it xD
Well, that's a good deal shorter than one of my semesters, but even so, in the time it takes you to go through about two and half courses I'll have taken five. That seems odd and I'm sure there's something I'm missing that would explain a lot of it. (And by the way, not needing to read the course material apparently crosses countries and oceans, seeing as I do very little of that myself xD). I think it'd be hard to really gauge the comparative difficulty unless you experienced both, to be honest. So it's all up in the air it seems...
And no, though I wish :P (one of these days, someone from this site really should publish an original work---we do enough writing.) I'm actually printing it out for my girlfriend. She wanted to read some of my writing (since I do it in every spare moment) and so I printed out a collection of my stuff and bound it up (Beta Red, Drop Point, BLUE NIGHTS, SUNSHINE, SKADHI, in order). She really likes the character of Standoff so far---she hasn't realized he's not long for the world :/---and wanted to read the journal. So I indulge a little guiltily (she didn't much like the ending of Beta Red because it made her sad---she'd gotten inside Alice's head and felt attached---so I imagine Standoff might be even worse...
Haha, oh trust me, I know xD. But hey, it's nothing worse than what I've done to myself! I was quite sad finishing up the final Standoff entry. I just want to share the pain =P. And oddly enough, considering how all my writing has been in fantasy, my only idea for original work has been for more realistic fiction. I've kinda had an idea and just added bits and pieces, and it's totally incomplete, but I have the vaguest of stories in mind about like a father whose lost his sons and goes backpacking through like the wilderness. It would have to start in medias reyes (or however you spell that) and kind of develop the backstory via flashback. Some of my best writing is descriptions though and I think it'd combine something I'm good at with one of my interests (backpacking, the outdoors) with the plus side of having beautiful scenery and lots of things to describe. Plus then I'd have to go backpacking all over to get a feel for the details (;
And I saw that! Read it, liked it! I kind of like the idea of some of the ARES kids being more receptive to the hungarian stuff than others. Rachel and Bal using it really commonly feels natural (whereas Roger I feel like takes bits and pieces of it). Actually, we could incorporate that into Ember maybe...have Connor be very non-hungarian. And I also like having Helen Calypso there. I'm sure there'll be some interesting dialogue between her and Roger/Mica if she's helping to carry them back to base (though I do wonder what happened to Amanda and...the other one whose name I forget)
Mmm, I got into it with Boy Scouts, and love it. There's an emptiness sort of. You feel detached from the world. All the normal things you worry and carry about just don't come up. So it's a good release. But yeah, truth be told, I want to write including it because I feel like I could get the details right, and the details are really important. And hmm, fantasy existing alongside advanced tech? Umm...the Thor movies xD. Those fit the bill, sort of :P
Hmm, I think that swear idea should be held onto though. So she could use it more generally, but even more than general for swearing xD. And hmm, that will change things. Although I can't claim to be too broken up I guess since I couldn't remember Bonnie's name...although I do remember who she is (was) now. So I...don't know where I was going with that. huh.
I just recently saw most of them (as I met people who had netflix and were willing to watch them with me). I found them all wildly entertaining, and they make The Avengers make a lot more sense. Agent Romanova doesn't come out of nowhere, for example. Personally, the Iron Man ones were my favorite, but that's probably just because Robert Downey Junior is the absolute perfect Tony Stark. And really? Destiny looks awesome, I think. I doubt I'll get too immersed in the lore, but I definitely want to play it. Great co-op game I think.
And more Covenant perspective would be good. Your Covenant characters are all really well done. Very entertaining reading. You should check out the Crimson update of the day by the way, if you haven't. It has my second favorite Crimson Team stunt of their career.
Yeah, the casting is really well done. Cap and Iron Man especially. Although it's kind of sad that Jeremy Renner gets stuck just being Hawkeye xD. I really like that actor. Too bad he plays the most useless of them...the most badass, but the most useless. And Chris Evans seriously played the Human Torch? I don't remember that! I definitely watched the first Fantastic Four movie, though I think I missed the second one.
Ooh, so he's almost Nathan Fillion-y in how awesome he is? You should buy it. I believe you still have XBL, right? or did you get rid of it? I'm going to need people to play Destiny with. One of my constant XBL buddies hits boot camp for the Navy this month and another one is distracted by college girls...only one amigo left. And I bet I'll get into the lore, just not to the degree of Halo. I get into the lore of a lot of games (Mass Effect, Gears) but I just always come back to Halo. It's my first love, I'm afraid. And I read them! Nice work. Interesting dynamic with the weapons master. Will we see Oosonas finding OLYMPUS base, too?
Huh, I've seen him in a number of things. He did a good job in the Hurt Locker and had a really nice performance in the new Bourne movie (can't remember it's correlated tagline...it'll come to me as I'm finishing this response, no doubt) plus, like you said, was in SWAT (glad to see someone else has seen that movie---it was so awesome back in the day!). Interesting to see they'll be expanding his role in the next Avenger movie. I wonder if they'll drop him in for a cameo in Agents of Shield (which I just started watching today, two episodes in, so maybe they did and I just haven't gotten to it---cool show by the way, has an entertaining cameo by Samuel Jackson and a sort of Firefly vibe for their main base of operations.
And alas, my exposure to TV tropes has mostly been limited to reading every single detail about their mass effect, halo, and castle articles, and nothing else. I am afraid of that site. It could absorb me. On the Game of Thrones note, it really is awesome when an actor has a performance like that. Makes me think of Luna's actor in Harry Potter---she captured the character so well, and just, in my opinion, made Luna even more fun.
And ah, living in a different place than your gaming system does tend to impede efforts to use said system xD. Too bad. I guess I'll have to hit up Ajax for Mass Effect or LOMI for...Halo, probably, if I feel in an HF gaming mood. Though if you want my two cents on the next gen consoles, Xbox One. I was definitely leaning PS4 for a while, but Mircosoft's whole 180 to the fan reaction brought me back. Both the actual changes they made, and the display of listening to the consumer. I don't think the latter should be overlooked. (That being said, I intend to use my 360 until it drops---or until I come into some sudden windfall of cash).
See, I never tell myself I'm never coming back, I just sort of get bored, wander off, stop writing, creep on the site watching things but not really contributing, then get struck by just inspiration or an idea and just run with it. I write articles in stops and starts, honestly. The BLUE NIGHTS/SUNSHINE/SKADHI triad-thing is a great example of it. I did them all in one fell schwoop, but took long breaks in between, waiting for inspiration to strike. And Star Wars fanon...eh, I had a HUGE star wars phase when I was younger (for about ten years) and just got burnt on the universe. I couldn't keep up, and some of the new stuff seemed silly. Plus the CONSTANT contradiction of the whole previous canon---like all those awesome Clone Wars stories just being totally thrown out. Bungie and 343 play with little things, yeah, like the dates or number of SPARTANs or frigate sizes, but some of it just is food for fun reconciliation theories. The core of the canon remains unchanged.
I actulally didn't pick up on the Cleric playing him---I might need to re-read now. It did seem like somebody screwed up somewhere along the logistical line, though, with the mass driver being observed and then the Human forces still using it in their attack. And the idea of a mobile UNSC assault carrier command center...it makes me think of Shield and their floating helicarrier. (I might have too much Marvel right now). I imagine they might want the base as a fallback point, though, wouldn't they? In case the Assault Carrier is tag teamed. Kind of hard to hide something that big.
Hey there Matt, can I ask you to make some votes on this administrative evaluation? As a member of the old guard, your input would be appreciated, and in particular, I'm hoping to break the tie on Leo Fox's evaluation. Thanks.
So I decided to go on a Halloween Sabbatical (otherwise known as candy coma recovery session) so apologies for my long time replying here xD. Honestly, I think you're spot on with Luna and Snape, but I'd round McGonagall into that list of perfectly acted characters too. She just embodies the character so well to me. Otherwise, I agree, the books are generally better (although the movies, truth be told, are some of the best book adaptions I've seen).
Yeah, I believe they changed it from once a day to once a month. I think a lot of the used game measures are the same, but they added a thing where you can have like up to two or three installs of a game you've bought on someone else's system. On that one, I see where they're coming from. Piracy is kind of becoming a big problem. I think that's a bullet I'll bite to keep having new games.
Oh, thinking abut Star Wars takes me back. Still love the originals, but seeing the prequels again relatively recently has been painful. They definitely don't measure up to my memories of them as good movies and in some cases are just plain awful. I think the new Clone Wars series has been hit or miss. Part of the problem I think is that I was big into KT's Republic Commando series and I see a lot of the issues brought up with the clone army there glossed over. Some of the episodes are really good, though, truth be told. And Halo is definitely enough to sate mine.
And I kind of see it, on reread, though it's probably a good thing, as you said, that it was so subtle. I can see a joint battle with both the carrier and the base being hit to be an entertaining one, as well. Maybe give the Covenant a chance to be devious and have them attack like weapons control and use the human's own asset against themselves. That would be fun, seeing as human forces are generally the ones to pull such hijinks.
Greet'ns. Just thought I'd stop by to mention that ole' Laz is up for a Good Articles nomination, and you should think about brushing some dust off and straightening out some edges to have him join his fellow Leonidans in GA status. Just a suggestion, That Damn Sniper.
I assure you, I can sympathize on being behind on projects. I can of course remove the nomination at the request of the author, and when the time comes, I'll be excited to see you work on him again. Someday, far in the future!
You should come on the IRC some time, so I can browbeat you into doing Hammer Fall stuff.
Survival of the Fittest
The deathmatch awaits.
You have shown great devotion in creating some of your most valiant heroes, and now we beckon to you in a call of arms. Your warriors have been deemed worthy to join Survival of the Fittest, Halo Fanon's greatest community-wide battle of the year! Should you answer the call, you will have the chance of claiming victory and immortalizing one of your characters as one of the greatest champions to be remembered in Halo Fanon history! The next step is up to you. I hope to see your warriors in my armoury soon...
Cmdr. Kathrin Grunwald, Survival of the Fittest Season 5 Game Master
I did nearly pretty much xD. Lost the notebook that had the last 35 or so pages of One Last Tie in it, and nearly had a heart attack xD. Kind of lost heart a little bit thinking it was gone. Then I found it, started typing it, and here I am! Huzzah!
And it might even be up all the way when you get to it. I'm eager to see your reaction to the whole thing. Fair warning though: it's a long one. And reading the Op SKADHI stuff is very helpful (not sure if you read all of the later entries or not).
And perhaps I will. I've never been much of an irk lurker, but I've got weird bouts of free time now at odd times, so maybe I'll start xD. (Plus, seems like an excellent place to put shameless self plugs in)
Well, if your not in a Halo mood, that can't be helped. Hammer Fall should run for a few episodes so if you feel like you want to come RP, go for it. Its drop in at any time, and your factions sound fun and exciting!
As for the IRC, its been funny lately. It'll redirect you to the filtering channel now, where you can PM one of us to let you in.
So, been doing a few Ares bits and ends, and wrote up performance reports for the remaining Class III's who don't have them, including Cyan, Turquoise, and Violet. I'm gonna post them in a little bit, so if your on, check them out, change anything you think needs changed, and whatnot.
Ho, Matt. If you're still alive and, again, ever on here, I'm looking at making sort of a big (very big) x-post to Fanfiction.net, with all my Standoff entries, assorted ARES stuff, BLUE NIGHTS, SUNSHINE, SKADHI, short stories, etc. all in chronological order, and was hoping I could include the little odds and ends of the ARES logs page you made (interviews, the DI poker game, Laszlo/Standoff's correspondence). You'd be credited of course xD. Let me know amigo!
Bwuh! You're actually alive! I'll get moving on that then, post haste. Also, if your curious/want to contribute a short section, I've been working on a short story around the Top Honors excercise for ARES. So far, finished writing the engagements of CrimsonVTurqoise, TanVViolet, GoldVScarlet, and am close to the end of CrimsonVOlive. I've got the whole entire excercise storyboarded out, right down to who wins which engagements, the moves they use, and the terrain of the area (with maps), but wasn't sure if I should write the segment where Cyam kills Turqoise or just talk about it from someone else's perspective. If you'd be interested in writing a few pages, let me know. I can empathize with the lack of Halo writing, though; this is the first thing I've done in months, and it was born out of the boredom of taking core requirement 100 level classes at school. Have to take them, but I could pass them in my sleep; so instead of notes, entertain myself writing. Solid scholarship xD.
Oh, totally understandable. My finals week was last week, and had three separate essays (two of which were major semester-long cumulative projects) due on Monday, alongside two tests. Coupled with work the Friday and Saturday of the week before, that Sunday was hell (awake at 10 AM, sleep at 11 PM, one 45 minute break all day, 25 pages in all. Stress stifles the desire to do anything else even remotely intellectually challenging (netflix on the other hand...).
The way it's set up, as is, is Crimson vs. Turquoise (from Crimson's perspective) where Crimson kills a few but has to run away, Tan vs. Violet from (Tan's perspective) where Tan kills the all of Violet, Gold vs. Scarlet (Gold perpsective) with Gold killing em all, Cyan vs the remainder of Turqoise (discussed later) where Cyan kills off the rest with one casualty, Crimson vs. Olive (Crimson POV) which Crimson wins, Gold vs. Silver (Gold POV) where Gold wins, and finally a crazy final showdown where Cyan takes on Orange (watched by Tan) and kill them, only for Gold to attack Tan, Cyan runs away, run into Crimson (from Crimson POV), who kills everyone except Rachel, who tries for guerrilla stuff as Crimson tries to take on Gold while their killing Tan, except Gold kills them (from Gold's POV), before Tan counterattacks (from Tan's POV), only to get taken out by Gold. Then we get an epilogue view from Standoff's POV, as he watches the excercise with Laz (including Rachel struggling to fight off all of Gold and eventually getting pinned and murdered), where I figure he can review the footage of the earlier Cyan vs. Turquoise battle, and probably sound super depressed and cynical about how the war's going to go with augmentation and deployment so soon, while Laz tries to look on the bright side of things. Confused? Good!
Hopefully...although for me (future History teacher!) maybe not pay off so much in the actual money payment xD. I'll end up loving my job though, so that's a plus. And with those pictures, I remembered Raider armor from that S-IV new guy story, and figured Red and Black colors suited her. Balduin meanwhile was sort of a stab in the dark. With the MC collection out now, I can select all the released armor for use, so if you've got a set and a color scheme you think is better, let me know.
Hello there Matt. No telling when you'll get this or respond, if ever, since I know you've more or less moved on. Basically, I thought I'd message you to talk to you about adopting Laz from you. I've still got him wrapped up in Riker's past and recently I've started to think about using him for things, and since I'd hate to see such a fun character fall by the wayside I thought I'd ask you about taking him over.
Now, ideally, you could message me back soon and we could wrap this up one way or another, but since you've not edited in a year I'm betting that won't happen. So I'll just let you know, after a little while if I don't hear back I'm probably just going to stick a Double Writer template on him and call it good. But if you ever come back and want to take him back, I'll gladly give your baby back to you. Until then though, I'll take care of him.
I can empathize a lot when you say there's no time to write any more: I may be active - along with a few other old guys - but its nothing like back in the day. Just too much real life to deal with. But thank you for the trust; I'll be sure to take good care of your work.
I'll let you know if there's anything I'm changing with Laz, but honestly I'm fairly content with him as he is: perhaps clean up a little at some point, like I need to do with some of my own stuff, but that's it. But if you'd like a little reading, I recently wrote a short piece that featured Laz in it, if only for a moment. I think you might enjoy it, since its a bit of a tribute to the relationship between Riker and Laz we always wanted to build up but never got a good chance to.
In any case, thanks again and good luck yourself. We'll be thinking of you fondly.
Hey I'm D042 and I just happened to have a question. I'm not sure if you were just popping up once or if you're gonna be around more but I figured I should ask as 501 has been gone a good bit of time. After I read you and his work with ARES and the associated logs I was hooked and I had my own idea for SII Class IV. Of course I wouldn't christen it as such or really do much in the way of work on it without you or 501's blessing. So I was wondering, would it be okay for me to create a SPARTAN II Class IV as a follow up to ARES?User:Spartan-D042 screw this sig stuff 21:08, March 25, 2016 (UTC)
Ajax is still at large, and 501 drops in once on a blue moon, though its been a while. You could go ahead and fill me in if you want, though I'll need to look over everything again since Halo 5's timeline stuff might necessitate some different things to happen to fit now.
Hey, glad you liked it! The character in question is Emma Emerich from Metal Gear Solid 2. I'd like to say there was some deep meaning behind my choice there, but the truth is you were just of the generation of wiki writers I had roughly broken things down into and the MGS2 part of the picture occurred there as well.
