Type Effective strength Description
Grunts 5 The standard armed or unarmed infantry units of the Covenant, they may not seem like much to an augmented Spartan, Elite or a Brute, but they are ferocious and formidable when pitted against average humans or similarly-sized troops such as Marines, Jackals and Skirmishers. They bite, claw, shoot, and can overpower the most powerful foes when in large numbers.

This unit comes in the form of five Unggoy Minors with a single Unggoy Major in charge. They may not be armed with anything greater than standard-issue Plasma Pistols and Needlers, assuming that they come armed at all. They can be used both offensively and defensively.

Jackals 7 Jackals are amongst the most numerous of the Covenant races. They are savage, unruly and generally make bad company. Their thin and nimble form makes them exceptionally agile, but you'll probably only see them pushing forward slowly from behind their individual, gauntlet-based energy shields.

This unit comes in the form of five Jackal Minors with a single Jackal Major in charge. They may not be armed with anything greater than standard-issue Plasma Pistols and Needlers, but will always come equipped with their signature energy shield gauntlets. They can be used both offensively and defensively.

Jackal Infantry 9 A few standard, shielded Jackals with the Grunts they barely tolerate underfoot.

This unit comes in the form of two Jackal Minors, a Jackal Major and three Grunt Minors. They may not be armed with anything greater than standard-issue Plasma Pistols and Needlers, band the Jackals will always come equipped with their signature energy shield gauntlets. They can be used both offensively and defensively.
