The UNSC Haskell (hull identification code CA-324) was a Marathon-class Heavy Cruiser commissioned by the UNSC Navy on December 12, 2519 and built by Reyes-McLees Shipyards above the planet Mars. The Haskell is notable as it was one of the few heavy cruisers in the UNSC to survive past the end of the Human-Covenant War.

Service History[]

The Haskell's initial shakedown cruise ended on the 15th of December, 2519, and the ship then departed to the planet Reach under the command of Captain Meera Reddy to participate in UNSC joint-naval training exercises. She arrived in system on December 22nd and attached to an assigned training fleet for a week long simulated war-game known as Steel Vigilance. The Haskell and her crew performed very well by naval standards, being awarded a citation of effectiveness from the Admiral of the fleet, and placing second on the event's capital ship performance leader-board. After the war-game officially concluded on December 30th the Haskell was placed under the envelope of the UNSC Third Fleet alongside her sister ship the UNSC Pride (CA-321).

Human-Covenant War[]

The UNSC Haskell served under the command of Captain Meera Reddy until 2535 until Admiral Tausten A. Parker assumed command, making it the operational flagship for his task-force.

The ship operated mostly with the UNSC Third Fleet for most of the Human-Covenant War, but was recalled to bolster the defenses of the Sol System prior to the Battle for Earth.

Awards and Citations[]

The UNSC Haskell was one of the highest decorated vessels in the UNSC Home Fleet. In 2524 the Haskell's onboard classical Jazz Orchestra was awarded the UNSC Citation of Musical Excellence. Over the course of the UNSC Haskell's thirty-eight year service career, the ship and her crew were awarded the following citations and honors:

Accommodations
13 Battle Stars
UNSC Service Battle Stars (13)
UNSC Musicial Excellence Award
Citation of Musical Excellence

Operation Trebuchet Campaign Medal
UNSC Service Excellence Award
Citation of Combat Effectiveness
Sol Defense Service Medal

The UNSC Haskell was struck from the UNSC Naval Active Duty Roster on June 1st, 2558. On June 6th, 2558, the ship was transitioned into mothball status under the UNSC Reserve Fleet.

Special Notes[]

The renown soccer player Sigmund Alt of the planet Biko served aboard the UNSC Haskell for four years after Biko was glassed in 2526.
