The Hat Yai campaign, often confused with the battle for Hat Yai was a large scale military counter-offensive during the early years of the Human-Covenant war.

Due to Hat Yai's colonization efforts being centralized to a single continent, a majority of the conflict would take place on the Eastern most hemisphere leading to the near extermination of the planets population. The battle would see the first wide-spread deployments of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, particularity to that of the 105th Shock Troops Division; the deployments of the 509th bomber and 325th fighter wings, and one of the earliest engagements involving Spartan ll's during the Human-Covenant war.

In an attempt to extenuate the severity of the war, official sources stated the battle to be a decisive win for the United Nation Space Command, these revelations would be overshadowed 26 years later when a war journalist "Jake Courage" would disclose the true consequences of the battle and inevitably lead the Unified Earth Government in publishing the "civil archives and publications administration".

Despite heavy human casualties, the conflict would be pinnacle in shaping military doctrine and strategy, as well as providing an insight on Covenant philosophy, concepts, and tactics offering solutions which would be used in later conflicts resulting in maximum enemy casualties with minimal allied losses.
