Takra 'Ravakrae, commonly known as the Battlemaster, is a Sangheili legionmaster of the Banished. In the eyes of foes and allies alike, he is infamous for his proficiency in warfare and military strategy, boldness, and ruthlessness. He is currently the leader of a mercenary legion, the Brothers of Blood and Sorrow.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Takra was born alongside two brothers, Kham and Kavar, to noble parents on the agricultural colony of Uthravik. As the eldest sibling, he was the heir to his father, Akran 'Ravakrae, who ruled their homeworld as high kaidon. For the next twenty solar cycles, Takra was immersed in the ways of his home's politics, culture, and agricultural practices. However, he would gradually change his mind about his destiny due to the influence of his brothers, as they believed his time would be better spent serving the Covenant as a warrior. And so, on a night where a shuttle was being secretly prepared for off-world travel, Takra broke the news to his family.
The argument that occurred between him and his parents was quite heated. Takra was accused of being too ambitious and told that leaving Uthravik would endanger his clan's legacy. But he had already made up his mind and decided to depart his father's keep without further delay. On the outskirts of Uthravik's capital city, he boarded the aforementioned shuttle with his brothers and travelled towards the stars.
The trio made their way to the mobile city of High Charity, whereby they enlisted and began their careers.
Military Career[]
Upon enlisting, Takra and his brothers underwent rigorous training and religious education, ensuring they were not only strong warriors, but faithful servants as well. In their first several years, they participated in numerous campaigns fighting against the likes of pirates and smugglers. Takra grew to be the one who determined the trio's every move, demonstrating an aptitude for strategy and a willingness to take risks. This earned him a promotion to his first rank within the Obedientary rate.
After over a decade of service, the brothers were transferred aboard their first warship to serve as part of its troop contingent. While they were deployed to worlds in turmoil and hostile vessels, Takra realised he was somewhat ill-suited for the battlefield. Not only did he make an easy target, he realised there was a higher chance of perishing. Additionally, he desired greater command rather than lead a handful of lances into battle. This new desire led to him desiring another promotion, and eventually he received it. This would become a trend as he earned glory and made a name for himself. When several decades had passed, he had earned himself the rank of Commander. And while he still served primarily on the ground, he was making a gradual push to transition into a role within the fleet itself.
Takra temporarily stepped away from his duties to pursue an education in the ways of naval warfare. He studied at one of the Covenant's many specialised academies, which merely lasted for a few short years. By the end, he possessed a deep and thorough understanding of the subject, and with that he deemed himself prepared for serving within the fleet. His superiors granted him command over his first vessel as a shipmaster, and he was assigned to a security fleet. He became involved in combat operations against familiar foes, continuing to hone his strategic might. Eventually, he was rewarded for his talents and years of service, being granted the honourary title of Battlemaster.
The last several decades before the Human-Covenant War began saw Takra ascend to the rank of Supreme Commander. Initially, he was tasked with managing the forces protecting the shipping routes of one of the Covenant's space sectors, whereby he was promoted to fleetmaster in order to carry out this responsibility. This became the new state of affairs, relatively uneventful in terms of personal combat for Takra. However, this changed when the High Council ordered for his fleet to double its size and granted him the rank of Supreme Commander. They desired to expand the empire's borders and obtain new resources. As a result, Takra and his fleet explored uncharted space and mined resources whenever they encountered them. Takra was grateful for serving in such a prestigious rank, thus content with this new state of affairs.
Unexpectedly, things would change once again when the war was officially declared.
Human-Covenant War[]
The fleet under Takra's command, known as the Fleet of Unrelenting Sacrifice, was deployed shortly after the Harvest campaign. While it largely did not play a direct role on the frontline, it provided support by shipping supplies and ferrying troops as reinforcements. As the siege on the Outer Colonies progressed, Takra began getting involved personally in the combat. As expected, many of them were victories for the Covenant.
