Saulos () (also known as Scrutum-Centaurus Prime or more formally, the Crown Jewel of the Directorate) was a Γ-type terrestrial planet Saulosian Directorate primary world located in the largely unexplored Scrutum-Centaurus Arm region of the Milky Way. Saulos was one of the Gedessa System's six inhabitable planets, with it arguably being the most important while the others (Glacialis, Scion, Artisnium, Ereglos, and Syrico) were close behind. Saulos had one orbiting moon, Pathon, which was believed to have been formed from the planet several billion years from a devastating impact with another forming planet. Commonly referenced as the Fortress Capital or the Crown Jewel, it was under the jurisdiction of the totalitarian Saulosian Directorate and its single ruler, the Klithan.

The planet in question was most notable for being the capital of the governing body of the Saulosians with the planet Vector being the secondary capital. It was the homeworld of the Saulosian race, an advanced reptilian species known for their aggressive transgressions against the UNSC and their allies, initializing the devastating Saulosian Campaign with all their military resources.

Located in the Scrutum-Centaurus Arm region of the galaxy, Saulos was considered to be the center of the region, as their Navigational Star Maps had given it the coordinate designation C-0 (later C-16 by the UNSC).
