  [Source]

Samuel-D150, real name Samuel Kirby, was a SPARTAN-III from Delta Company. Never outstanding in absolute terms, Samuel would prove to be far more useful as a "deep cover agent" acting as a rogue SPARTAN in order to commit espionage for the UNSC.

History[]

Early life[]

Born in 2545 on Reach to unknown parents, Samuel Kirby developed an independent streak starting from the day he learned to walk. At age five, his parents were killed in a horrific accident, leaving Kirby, an only child, to fend for himself. However, he failed to make it on his own, and as a result ONI found him in an orphanage a few months before his sixth birthday and conscripted him into the SPARTAN-III Delta Company.

Spartan Evaluations[]

If Samuel's brief time fending for himself had taught him anything, it was how to tell other people what they wanted to hear. Samuel used this ability during his interview with the Delta Company evaluators, although they were aware he was trying to deceive them. For his part, Samuel was more interested in getting out of the orphanage than he was at getting revenge on behalf of most of humanity.

Camp Ambrose[]

On paper, Samuel appeared to be a mild liability for ONI in training. In terms of "traditional" SPARTAN skills he was fairly underwhelming in training; his skills in marksmanship and physical combat were far below Delta's average, and he was middling in just about everything else save stealth and target identification, which were considered to be disappointing traits for a Spartan to have. He preferred to keep mostly to himself, leaning on resourcefulness to get out of any conflicts he found himself involved in.

Academically, he didn't appear to be exceptional either: he constantly fell asleep in class, and as a result he was made to receive private tutoring in the evenings when most of his fellow trainees were resting - although this was mostly a cover story, as what he was actually being taught was lessons in espionage. His habit of falling asleep during his regular classes turned out to make a convenient cover story, although there were some Deltas who privately questioned their instructors' blind eye to Samuel's naps.

Augmentations[]

Samuel received the same set of augmentations as everyone else in Delta. He took longer to adjust to his augmentations than most of the other Spartans; however, once he had been augmented his skills improved roughly to par.

Equipment[]

Armor[]

Samuel uses a set of MJOLNIR Mk. V[B] armor[1] which he received as "leftovers" in time for Operation: DARK DESCENT.

Weapons[]

Samuel originally used a BR85HB, although he was never particular about the weapons he used and was very opportunistic as a "rogue" Spartan.
