Special Warfare Command Group Five (mostly simply called SPECWARCOM Group Five) was an elite unit of the Joint Special Warfare division. It was composed of highly skilled special operations operators and officers from all branches, forming a highly versatile, adaptable special applications force.
A while into the Human-Covenant War, Colonel Kristi Johansen - a former combat controller - was placed in charge of the unit. She would keep commanding the unit until well after the end of the war, leading it through some of the toughest operations commissioned by the UNSC - including, but not limited to; SENTINEL, NIGHTINGALE and SHIELD BASH.
