Colonel Robert Nichols was an officer of the United Rebel Front on the colony of Cygnus. Born in 2510, he joined the URF in 2527, believing that the threat of the Covenant was simply a UNSC ploy, and the Insurrectionists would need more recruits to fight off what he saw as an inevitable dictatorship.
Based in a settlement protected by the Colonial Defense Forces as part of an Insurrectionist representative group, he was eventually violently driven out in 2534. In retribution, Nichols and his men attacked and burned the stocks of the settlement's CDF garrison. Leaving the area, Nichols and his group engaged in skirmishes with UNSC forces.
Eventually, in 2554, Nichols returned to the area he had left decades prior, and formed an uneasy alliance with the so-called 'free' CDF units to aid them in fighting off the New Colonial Alliance. He was eventually killed at the Battle of Grasok Run after the UNSC reneged on its alliance with him and his fighters.
