Rastoius was a Brute Chieftain serving the Covenant Empire. Formally of Regret’s initial invasion, he was later transferred and assigned to the Revealing Lance where he would be the last Chieftain in charge of the Battle of Puerto Rico.  

History

The Great Schism on Earth

Rastoius was on Earth before the Great Schism began, by then he was a Brute Captain commanding a pack of brutes. He, along with his fellow brutes, were tasked to start eliminating the Elites on Earth, who were disconnected from the rest of the Covenant. Armed with a Brute shot, he defeated several elite lances and even a General that the Prophet of Regret left behind when he initiated the slipspace jump over New Mombasa. After finding a group of dead elites with fuel rod guns, he ordered his brute brothers to use them and to begin firing relentlessly against their elite foes. He led his pack on an aggressive and destructive blitz through contested territory, turning the tide in favour for the brutes. His actions rewarded him with the alias of 'Volatile Blitz' due to his aggressive and destructive attack method used against the elites and the humans, it also resulted in him being promoted to Brute Chieftain and was to assume the command of the Revealing Lance after the forces there lost their leader during an assault against the human city of Ponce.

Battle of Earth

Sent immediately to take charge of the forces on Puerto Rico, he ordered the immediate assault against Ancient San Juan, the UNSC’s main base. Although his attack was unsuccessful in defeating the human forces, he utilized the UNSC’s focus on defence of the city to send Brute Stalkers to the recently discovered Communications Array in Arecibo used to communicate with other Human forces, hoping to cause more panic among the enemy forces.

Soon he was notified that the Brute Stalkers were defeated by Orbital Drop Shock Troopers sent to re-establish connection with SATCOM. Enraged that his plan to ensue panic among his opponent, Rastoius grabbed the grunt that informed him by his head and crushed his skull. Rastoius decided to shore up defences with the garrison he had until the main fleet sent reinforcements to Rincón.

Hoping to make a single daring blitz among the human strongholds, he withheld the forces to Rincón. This proved to be disastrous, since Truth’s fleet would leave to the Ark he did not receive enough forces to attempt his daring assault, and he sacrificed the southern Tyrant Anti-Air gun at Cabo Rojo by leaving a small garrison to protect the entire city.

Rastoius attempted to fix his prior mistake by reinforcing the defences at the Mayaguez. Again, this was not enough to prevent the destruction of the Tyrant gun, but his forces held much longer and killed the small force responsible for the Tyrant’s destruction.

Caught on the backfoot, Rastoius was furious. He ordered the remaining forces to consolidate at Rincón to keep control on his last foothold.  Rastoius led his forces from the base of the Gravity Lift, commanding the main forces near the landing zone. After he was alerted by the human incursion on the Revealing Lance, he rushed towards the Gravity Lift, but it was disabled as the first lance was going up, sending them plummeting down to the ground. He called for a Phantom to ferry him and his personal group of brute captains to the main hanger, but once aboard his Phantom was hit by a grazing shot from the Maglev Onager, sending it on a crash course towards the north of the island.

Last Stand

Emerging from the wreckage, He and his brute pack would see the CCS blow up from the inside and crash down into the city. Enraged, he led his remaining brutes to the north of the island, where he regrouped with the small garrison established in the Camuy Caverns, which was the new home of a massive drone hive. Hiding there until he could strike back and find a way out of Earth, he was confronted by ODST squad 'Theta-four', along with Lezo 'Gohom's personal lance sent to purge the drone hive left there. The ODSTs were surprised to see the Chieftain and his personal pack. While his pack and other survivors fought the ODSTs and Sangheili, he fought against Lezo himself with his Brute Shot, and after a short fight, Rastoius was defeated by his own weapon when Lezo, having stabbed Rastoius' vital organs with his energy sword, would slice the wounded brute's head off with his own brute shot, burying the blade into the rock he was decapitated on. His weapon remains in buried inside a massive rock where Rastoius was killed.

Personality

Although savage like the rest of his race, Rastoius would employ a small amount of strategic thinking. Mostly in strategies focused on fast, and aggressive assaults, using the enemy’s panic to exploit their weaknesses. Rastoius relished in aggressive assaults among a distraught foe. He reveled during the Schism, often seeing Elites to be weak and unfit to serve. Despite it being a great honor to the Jiralhanae, he knew his promotion was mainly done since the Covenant kept the more capable brutes for the Ark voyage, leaving the ones on Earth to become fodder. He decided to prove them wrong, claiming to control the planet for when the fleet returns.
