Project Halo Wars

Welcome to PROJECT: Halo Wars, a project created by the Administrator RelentlessRecusant. This was a roleplaying game originally started at Halopedia at precisely 6:38 pm on December 3, 2006 , and then ended in March 2007. Many thanks to all the roleplayers on Halopedia and Halo Fan Fiction that have made this project a great success and a hell lot of fun; we've come a long way to here.

Current Status: COMPLETED

Introduction

Its purpose to to encourage members to interact with each other in a friendly fashion, and to uphold the First Commandment of Halopedia:

"Thou shaltest haveth fun."

Okay. Enough with the boring monologue that you could have copied and pasted from most of my talk page comments, and to the real stuff:

What: A small RPG-like thing, details to be decided as continued.
Who: Any invited Halopedian. Sign in below.
Where: Here, at Halopedia:Halo Wars.
When: Current (12/12/06) to an unspecified time
Why: To: (1) Have fun, (2) Make friends
How:

This is the most troublesome part. However, I believe it'll be more of a freeform RP. What do I mean?

Members will declare their personification within this alternate dimension of Halopedia: SPARTAN-II, Sangheili (otherwise known as Elites), or Forerunner. We'll fight or make peace or do whatever on an imaginary installation that shalteth be known as Installation 03 - the domain of 49 Proximal Secant (that's me, RelentlessRecusant, a Monitor).

Post short stories in succession 'bout what happens to you chaps.

Good luck, have fun, don't die. =D

*Note: There will be limited fan fiction below to be used to fill in gaps in combat knowledge.

Background

Background Plot

Installation 03 is an enigmatic Forerunner-machined superstructure, a supermassive ring thousands of kilometers in diameter that was artificially constructed by the ones who had strode the stars before both the Covenant and the Humans.

A Sangheili elite infiltration team was able to bypass United Nations Space Command forces on Coral and find a Forerunner artifact, a virtually impregnible vast antechamber within a wreath of coral reefs underneath the spacious saltwater oceans in the southern hemisphere. A light explosion was able to dislodge the barriers, and ancient symbolic runes were found engraved upon the surface of the chamber: stellar coordinates written in an advanced language, along with the words GAMMA INSTALLATION.

It took seven months before Covenant CENTCOM was able to decipher the glyphs. However, due to the uncertainty of the translation, only a relatively small battlegroup was dispatched to Installation 03 - the flagship Divine Wrath and five frigates under Fleet Master Queta 'Polsimee.

However, the Covenant's voyage miraculously came to the attention of the Office of Naval Intelligence. A prowler, the Prescience, tailed the Divine Wrath as it left the Hawking System, and was propelled through Slipspace by the flagship's multidimensional turbulence wake.

In Slipspace, the Prescience dispatched a burst transmission to the Archimedes Slipspace Monitoring Station in the fringes of the nearby Sigma Octanus System, alerting the UNSC of its location. When it emerged from ethereal dimensions behind the Divine Wrath, it risked a second transmission: the presence of a small Covenant taskforce over an unidentified ring. (This was before and during the timeframe that SPARTAN-117 and the UNSC Pillar of Autumn discovered Alpha Halo)

The syntheticness of the ring shocked ONI into completely canvassing that section of space - the immensity of the structure and the technology necessary to create a world from nothingness was awe-inspiring...if only the UNSC could get in contact with those builders...

A UNSC battle group of one Marathon-class Cruiser-Carrier, a pair of carriers, ten destroyers, and twenty frigates were sent to eliminate the Divine Wrath and its escorts, and to enlist the builders of the ring, presumably on the ring's surface, in the Human-Covenant War.

Silence. Marcus finally heard it. It had seemed like the screams and cries of the battered soldiers would never end. The Flood had nearly taken the Control Room in the battle. It was a miracle that the enormous Flood creature hadn't moved to attack. "Marcus to Commander Collins." He tried once more to get on the comm. " This .... Commander .... we ..... engaging.... Covenant ..... is .... situation ?" said the voice. This is the first time he had gotten through. "Commander Collins this is Spartan-098, DO NOT ATTACK THE COVENANT, I REPEAT DO NOT ATTACK THE COVENANT we have allied with them." he said with relief. " Spartan-098 .... allied .... Covenant ?" the voice asked. "Affirmative, we have allied with Covenant".

"Sir did he say he has allied with the Covenant ?" asked Cowel "Repeat your statement Marcus" said Collins. "DO ..... FIRE .... COVENANT... REPEAT ..... NOT .... ON ...." said the Spartan. "Lieutenant Yong, divert power from non-essential decks to the comm system" ordered the Commander. "Aye, sir" replied Yong. "Say again" ordered the Commander. The voice finally came through clear. "DO NOT FIRE ON THE COVENANT, I REPEAT DO NOT FIRE ON THE COVENANT" said Marcus. "Are you out of your mind ?" asked Collins. "Negative sir, by order of Rear Admiral Michael Shafer DO NOT FIRE ON THE COVENANT" said the voice. "Very well Spartan" said Commander Collins. A million questions rang through his head. Could Marcus have gone rogue ?

Marcus felt relieved. "Spartan-098 to Spartan-048, we have secured the Control Room and the Argo has halted fire on the Covenant, request extraction or reinforcements. It's your call." he said. Marcus thrust the ornamental armour off his body. It was too damaged for more use.

0636 Hours, October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Surface of Installation 03

Spartan-098 to Spartan-048. We have secured the Control Room and the Argo has halted fire on the Covenant. Request extraction or reinforcements. Your call.” Chris turned to the Councilor.

“It seems SPARTAN-098 has managed to contact the Argo. They are ceasing fire on the Covenant. We can begin our plans to evacuate the ring.” ‘Nodotee nodded, but then his expression changed. He held a muted conversation over his radio, then turned back to Chris.

“It seems ‘Nifumee has secured another CCS-class battlecruiser, ‘Euqoree’s no doubt. We can’t let him escape.”

“Who is ‘Nifumee?”

“He was one of my charges, but was infected and now leads the Flood,” replied ‘Nodotee.

“I think it would be best if we just destroy the ring and be done with it,” offered the Rear Admiral.

“Perhaps you are right…” Chris said, lost in thought. “This is SPARTAN-048 to Admiral Yakubu Agahowa of the UNSC Devastator. You wouldn’t happen to have any nuclear ordinance onboard, would you?”

This is Admiral Agahowa. As a matter of fact, I do. I’ve got five Shivas, a couple HAVOKs, I even happen to have one of them prototype NOVA bombs, straight out of the ONI labs. Take your pick.

“I’ve never heard of a NOVA. What’s its yield?”

Thing could vaporize a planet.

“Impressive…I’ll take it.”

And what do you plan on doing with it?

“Oh, I have an idea or two.” Chris turned back to ‘Nodotee and the Rear Admiral. “I think I have a plan. Begin evacuating UNSC personnel via Pelicans to the spaceworthy UNSC craft, and evacuate the Covenant personnel via Phantoms, and Spirits if need be, to any spaceworthy Covenant craft. I’ve a feeling our defensive line won’t hold up much longer on the ground. The Flood seem to have a way around walls and the like. Once you’re in position, I’ll arm the NOVA. SPARTAN-098 and I will take a Pelican up to you, and then we’ll all jump system.” Chris then opened his COM. “Marcus, I have a plan. Hold your position. Reinforcements are on their way.”

Councilor 'Nodotee gave another BattleNet transmitter to the Rear Admiral, as 'Nodotee left for the Phantom. The Rear Admiral was trying to respect 'Nodotee, although failing horribly, but 'Nodotee didn't mind. After all, the Rear Admiral was trying, and that was the start of respect. Maybe someday the humans and Sangheili could be friends... but first things first, to get everyone off this ring and to stop 'Nifumee. 'Nodotee proceeded up the Phantom's grav lift, it was time for Chris and 'Nodotee to take separate paths, although 'Nodotee knew it wouldn't be the last time he'd work with the Spartan.

"Odch, take us back to Bloodied Remnants.", 'Nodotee sat down in the co-pilot's chair. The Phantom sped away from the human base camp.

Councilor 'Nodotee stepped up onto the command platform on the Assault Carrier, Bloodied Remnants. 'Nodotee looked around, the command crew seemed tired, it had been along time since they entered the Scared Ring's orbit and the horrors began. "What's the status on the remaining ships?", 'Nodotee was worried about the Task Force.

"Excellency, all the ships have entered slipspace. They're awaiting your orders in a nearby sector, Bloodied Remnants is the only ship left here."

"Send out all the Phantoms, bring all personnel back to the ship. We're working with the humans to destroy the Ring. Also, raise the main Grav Lift, pull Bloodied Remnants out to space. We're leaving the Ring's atmosphere."

Bloodied Remnants ascended into space. Multiple waves of Phantoms came and went from Bloodied Remnants, getting Sangheili forces back to the assault carrier. The ship then halted and turned to face the Ring. 'Nodotee would watch from here, or at least until the last of the soldiers were back on board.

"Excellency, the parasite controlled Revived Faith is moving. I think they're almost done with repairs."

'Nodotee shook at the thought of 'Nifumee and his horde escaping, "Heat all plasma lines! Ready all battle stations, track Revived Faith. Once in range, burn it."

Dgodt Visr Foltz walked over to the Spartan, "Most of the Covenant forces are being called back to our flagship. I, however, will remain until you and the incoming Spartan finish your mission. I've been instructed to aid you by 'Nodotee. So, what's the plan?"

Graves breath was labored, sitting with his back against the cargo boxes. He looked over at the several marines next to him, who were reloading their MA5Bs and MA5Cs that they had rattled off at the Flood who were now repelled thoroughly. Staff Sergeant Armstrong made his way over to Graves, a look of worry and concern on his face, which was met by Graves' own face of happiness and vigor.

"Sir, we may have a slight problem..." Armstrong began, after revealing a radio from his side. It was tuned to Fleetcom 5, which was strictly filtering out ground to ground talk, whilst revealing the ground to space communications. It was a semi-private channel, yet other captains could still listen in. Graves raised an eyebrow... Taking the radio from him and listening in.

“I’ve never heard of a NOVA. What’s its yield?”

Thing could vaporize a planet.

“Impressive…I’ll take it.”

Graves heaved a sigh, at a loss for words for what he had just heard. Everything was weaving through his mind, questions. Why did they need a NOVA bomb? Were they not going to tell him? Where was Adrian...?

He tapped into the frequency, established a direct communique with Chris. He saw on the radio two call sign SII-048... More Spartans? Where were they all coming from. Angel had said that all the Spartans had been on Reach with her, and were killed by the Covenant, save Adrian, Jared and the other Gray team member. Well, other Spartans had survived, but she didn't know that. "This is Captain Adam Graves of the UNSC Parabola-Class Freighter The Hesperus. Please inform me of the situation, especially if it involves a NOVA bomb. I still have some men out there..." He began, shaking his head, and leaning against the cargo boxes again, as the sounds of Battle Rifle and Sniper fire around him in small pockets. There must have been more flood... But they didn't concern him. He had a freind out there, and they were about to blow the whole damn ring up. Bigger concerns than a few re-animated corpses. Killed, massacred, eliminated. Amrothee's troops were all anhiliated just a few moments ago, with himself the only survivor. He flies alone in his Seraph in a desert area, without anyone to talk to, his radio mechanism destroyed, his entire army eliminated by the parasite.

Something needs to be done, he thinks to himself. I must show 'Nodotee that I'm a worthy warrior, as he doesn't seem to belive it. I can take out the parasite without help!

He maneuvers the Seraph closer to the Revived Faith, avoiding the plasma fire. He flies to a hangar and crashlands, luckily killing the parasite inside. He climbs out of the Seraph, taking a spike-covered thing, a Anti-Matter Charge, with him on the back.

"This thing needs to be placed at this ship's reactor, he mumbles to himself.

"Excellency, Revived Faith is in range, lateral lines firing."

'Nodotee watched as the ship took several hits. The shields dropped, "Open up with the Energy Projectors, now!" The ship burst into flame. Hmm, it seems the parasite could move the ship, although they had no understanding of weapons or shields. However, it appeared they did understand evacuating before the explosion, as many dropships flew from the cruiser at the last second. "Target the ships heading away from the ring, all those heading to ring, leave them to their fate.", 'Nodotee wouldn't allow a single dropship to escape to space.

"Excellency, one Seraph is hailing us," the underling activated the BattleNet, "it's appears to be non-infected, he says he is a Imperial Field Master. What should we do?"

Councilor 'Nodotee pondered a moment, then clicked his mandibles, "Do not allow it to come aboard, it may be infected. Bloodied Remnants will not fall now, tell him to go back to the Sacred Ring and await my orders."

"Understood excellency. 'Nodotee, we're picking up a large number of parasite survivors heading to the ring's control room. They'll be overrun quickly."

"Inform Odch to ready a Phantom, I'm going back to the surface. They'll need reinforcements.", 'Nodotee turned and headed for the hanger.

The Spartan was heading inside the control room, Dgodt was slowly following the human in. But then Dgodt heard that sound... parasite. Dgodt turned just in time to see the combat forms heading his way. The battle had begun, Dgodt's Fuel Rod Cannon quickly destroyed the incoming combat forms. That's when Dgodt saw the real parasite force walking out of the mist. The large Juggernaut was in the front, hundreds of combat forms surrounded it. That appeared to be all the parasite force, but then Dgodt noticed the ground under the Flood was moving... it wasn't the ground, but rather a carpet of Infection forms. The Fuel Rod Cannon kept the parasite at a safe distance, but how long would the parasite hold their ground. That's when the Juggernaut charged, Dgodt hit it directly in it's sensors. The Juggernaut seemed to be stunned, but a second later it was on the attack again. The Juggernaut's long tentacles smashed into Dgodt knocking the Lekgolo down, while Dgodt was on the ground, the Juggernaut continued stomping on Dgodt. Until there was no more movement from the Lekgolo.

The Juggernaut then proceeded as if it didn't just crush a hunter beneath it. The Flood army continued to march to the control room.

  • Juggernaut 'Nifumee is attacking the control room.
  • Revived Faith was destroyed.
  • Imperial Field Master Faraz is back on Installation 03, not on Bloodied Remnants.

“Captain? I thought you left the ring? Well, be advised. We’re destroying Halo and stopping the Flood here and now. We can’t risk them escaping.” The COM burst into static. “Shoot!” Chris turned to Marcus and Dgodt, the Hunter. “Ok, I’ll set the NOVA in the control room on the platform. We can hold the control room easily because the Flood can’t get as many through. Ammo might be a problem.”

“Got it covered,” Marcus replied. “We dragged plenty of ammo crates and weapons racks back to the control room incase the Flood pushed us back. We’ve got enough ammo for continuous fire of any weapon for several hours. And if worse comes to worse, there are other types of weapons we can use. We even have a nice bunch of those energy swords the Covenant love so much.”

“Good. So we hold the platform. That takes away the Flood’s advantage of numbers a bit. Dgodt, you’ll stand in front of the corridor. Your shield will allow us to completely block enemy fire from the corridor, and your fuel rod gun would be dangerous to stand in front of anyway. Marcus, you’ll be shooting around him.” The three turned and began moving into the control room, where the NOVA was sitting. Suddenly, Dgodt spun about and opened fire. Chris spun too, and saw the vast armies of the Flood. Chris and Marcus understood his sacrifice and spun on their heals, running down the wide hallway to the control room. “Marcus, do we have any machine guns?”

“Yes. We’ve got…” he stopped and counted the ordinance in a brief second, “five M247s, two M202s, and an old Confetti Maker.”

“Set up the Confetti Maker to fire down the catwalk. Dgodt’s sacrifice was no in vain.” Chris turned and began programming the NOVA. He opened FLEETCOM7. “Be advised. This is Petty Officer Second Class SPARTAN-048. I am arming the NOVA. Repeat, I am arming the NOVA. All UNSC forces should jump out of system as soon as possible. Don’t worry about us. We’re pinned down anyway. Get the hell out of here and tell your children about us.” He cut the COM as the UNSC jumped out of system. He finished rigging the NOVA, set it for ten minutes, plenty of time for all Covenant and UNSC forces to get out of system. He pulled out a small pad with a screen on it and accessed the cameras he and Marcus had rigged outside. To his relief, the Sentinels came as expected if there was any massive Flood build up. The Flood were fighting a two front war now, but they outnumbered both opponents combines by several thousand. Chris typed several commands that manually locked the outer doors down. Chris put the pad away and moved up behind Marcus. He made sure his BR55 had a fresh magazine, and then strapped it over his shoulder. He pulled another off the rack, slapped in a magazine, and strapped it over his other shoulder. He grabbed an MA5B, loaded it, and then hung over his neck, put an M6D in a holster in each thigh, slung an M202 over his shoulder, slid two M7s into his hip holsters, strapped a grenade belt filled with M9s to his waist, followed by another filled with Plasma Grenades right above it, and then picked up an M247. A loud bang resonated through the hallway as the Juggernaut began pounding on the outer doors. Chris looked to Marcus. They were ready.

Commander Collins looked out at the Covenant ship. Marcus must be rogue he thought. "Lieutenant Yong prepare all remaining marines and ODSTs to head to the surface and eliminate Spartan-098, and prepare every remaining weapon onboard for an assault on Bloodied Remnants". The Lieutenant enthusiasticaly typed in commands on his control panel. "Lets take 'em to hell" Collins said.

Marcus crouched and aimed his MA5C at the door. Their had been load bangs for the last ten seconds. "When will they .." Marcus halted his speech as the doors crashed to the floor. Piles of flood poured into the room. Marcus sighed as he mowed down the infection and combat forms which ran towards him. Chris fired highly accurate three round bursts. It reminded him of someone he used to know. As the duo mowed down the flood Carrier forms began to appear. "Estimate ?" asked Marcus "I'd say about seven thousand" replied Chris. "Great" Marcus whispered. "Reloading" Marcus said as he shoved his clip into the gun. Marcus threw a grenade into the oncoming flood. He was shortly showered by green blood. - Ares.117

Admiral Yakubu runs forth and back as the stress increase.

"What do you mean with the slipspace generator not working?"

"The slipspace generator is hacking!"

"Any UNSC personell that can escape with our aircrafts, do so!"

The time begins to be slim, the NOVA bomb will detonate in just some minutes, 6 minutes 24 seconds to be exact. Yakubu thinks this is the end for his career, but the best for the UNSC, is the best for him.

"Admiral, won't you get to the dropships?"

"No, I'm not leaving my post. Hurry on, you still have a chance to get out of here. I'm staying!"

Councilor 'Nodotee was almost in the hanger when he felt something impact the assault carrier, quickly followed by several more hits. 'Nodotee quickly rushed back to the control room, and ran up onto the command platform. "Report. What hit us?", 'Nodotee stood on edge.

"Excellency, the human ship Argo is re-engaging. They didn't have enough firepower to knock out our shields. Orders?"

Councilor 'Nodotee let out the Sangheili equalvalent of a sigh, "Fire the right lateral lines. Heat the energy projectors, when charged, destroy the Argo."

'Nodotee stood and watched as the plasma burned through the human ship. Small explosions went off on board the ship. Then several Pelicans and Longswords escaped the burning remains of the destroyer. The energy projectors shot off only once, it burned straight through the Argo. There was a great flash of light, then there was the cold silence of space again as the debris slowly cooled. Only various chucks of metal remained of the Argo, 'Nodotee wondered how many humans were able to get away.

"Excellency, several human dropships and fighters made it out of the ship, should we target them?"

"No, they can't harm us now.", 'Nodotee turned and walked back to the hanger.

The Phantom sped for the Scared Ring's control room. The Phantom was fully loaded with Councilor 'Nodotee, 12 Spec Op Sangheili and a Lekgolo pair. The Phantom slowed as it approached the control room, the grav lift deployed. The strike force dropped in on the parasite's flank. The Lekgolo pair opened fire right away, cutting through dozens of Flood. The strike force quickly tore trough the parasite, to their surprise, the was a single Lekgolo still fighting in the center of the Flood horde.

Amrothee flies over the control room area, and finds a large Flood horde outside, being engaged by some Sangheili, among them 'Nodotee. He sees that he has to act fast.

He maneuvers the Seraph to low height over the ground, and jumps out just before it crashes into a group of parasites.

He activates his two Energy Swords, and begins cutting parasites into parts. He fights himself to three Spec Ops Elites, and saves them from being attacked from the behind.

"You three, follow me, we cannot let 'Nodotee be slain!"

The lance follows him, and they fights through more parasites. They finds 'Nodotee moments later, but two of the Spec Ops is killed by a Shotgun hit. Amrothee slays him quickly, and he gets to 'Nodotee, when the parasite suddenly falls back to leave place for the Juggernaut form, Nifumee. 'Nodotee nods to Amrothee, and Amrothee walks foreward. He has to kill this parasite to stop the Flood. Nifumee orders his soldiers to attack the others.

Amrothee draw his swords, and yells to the Juggernaut:

"Give me everything you have!"

'Nifumee let out a shriek, then smashed the elite into the ground. The elite slowly rose up to see the Juggernaut run off.

'Nifumee charged into the control room hallway. 'Nifumee saw many Flood falling at the hands of the two human soldiers. 'Nifumee ordered more combat forms into the room. The Flood soldiers fell quickly, the humans couldn't have much ammo left. 'Nifumee decided that he must destroy the humans, and so into the control room the Juggernaut went.

"Pilot, i need an air-strike now!", 'Nodotee yelled over the BattleNet as he cut through another Combat Form. Councilor 'Nodotee turned to cut down one more Combat Form, but he saw off in the distance a silver and gold Sangheili fighting some Carrier Forms. The silver and gold Sangheili would have to wait, 'Nodotee had more important matters to attend to, as in living, three more Combat Forms jumped out of the mist. The Combat Forms never even touched the ground though, the Lekgolo pair blew the parasites out of the air. The Phantom flew overhead and the plasma cannons fired down into the Flood hordes.

In the moment of peace while the Phantom held off the Flood, 'Nodotee finally heard his BattleNet crackle. However it wasn't the regular BattleNet, it was the one for Chris.

0721 Hours, October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Control Room of Installation 03

The pair of Spartans had been holding the Covenant for half an hour. Marcus-098 had abandoned the Confetti Maker for an M202 XP machine gun. The machine gun normally would have shaken a marine’s arms off had it been fired continuously for this long, but Marcus was no ordinary soldier.

“The barrels red hot. I need to switch it out. Cover me!” cried Marcus. Chris-048 stepped forward. He had already expended all his battle rifle and assault rifle ammunition, and didn’t have time to grab more. He drew his M7s and opened up as the Flood came poring through the opening at the other side. A clutch of Carrier Forms ran in, died, and then there was a lull in the fighting. Chris wondered why the Flood had stopped. Could the Spartans have defeated all the Flood? As if you answer Chris’s thought, a massive Flood form that had once been ‘Nifumee burst through the opening. “I’ve got him!” Marcus shouted. He tossed the M202 aside and pulled out an M90 assault shotgun. The Flood Juggernaut charged forward, flailing a single ten-foot-long tentacle at Marcus. Marcus neatly sidestepped and blasted it in what would have passed for a face. It jumped over him and drew its tentacle back. It slammed the NOVA once, but then turned back as Marcus put another shell into its back. It swiped across, and Marcus dropped to the floor to avoid the blow. It slashed down but Marcus rolled out of the way. Marcus, still on the ground, primed and threw an M9 grenade at the beast. The explosion wasn’t enough to kill it, but it sent it over the edge of the rail.

As if on cue, the Flood began pouring into the room. The catwalk was lost before Marcus could get to the machine gun. Chris glanced at the NOVA timer on his HUD, which read 1:03. Marcus and Chris managed to keep the Flood off the platform itself but without the heavy support of the machine gun, they were being pushed back. Chris shot yet another Combat Form in the face and then again in the chest. Perhaps the wall of bodies would stop the Flood onslaught. No, the wall sloped downwards toward the Flood. They could just run up it and jump down onto the Spartans. That presented a problem. The Spartans would soon be shooting the Combat Forms out of the air, but that wouldn’t stop the corpses from continuing on their paths and hitting Chris and Marcus. Chris realized that the wall had to be destroyed if they were to continue for the last thirty-eight seconds. He grabbed the last M19 Jackhammer rocket launcher and blew apart the wall. Marcus didn’t question the move, most likely having come to the same conclusion as Chris. The Flood continued on. Chris’s newly obtained MA5B assault rifle clicked empty. He dropped it and pulled out his final line of defense, his two M6D pistols. He was thankful they had an automatic fire selection. He opened up on the oncoming Flood. The timer read three seconds.

“See you in Hell!” Marcus cried. The timer read zero. Nothing happened. Marcus, who was on the other side of the catwalk from Chris, ran out of ammo. He pulled out a combat knife, but it made no difference. A Combat Form ran up to him. He stabbed it, and it exploded, sending Marcus over the railing. Chris, realizing what had happened, ran to the NOVA and tackled it, throwing it and himself over the edge.

0723 Hours, October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Control Room of Installation 03

Chris was falling. He changed his center of mass and sped back to the NOVA. He latched on and pulled off the cover. A wire had been cut from where the Juggernaut had attacked. Chris reset it for a ten minute countdown and quickly tied the wire ends back together. The NOVA would survive the fall. Chris’s armor would probably survive the fall, though Chris’s organs wouldn’t. The Flood, however, knew it wouldn’t survive the fall, and would have to go around to wherever the fall would bring the NOVA. Chris wondered if the impact would cause the NOVA to misfire again, like the Juggernaut’s blow had. He decided that the Juggernaut’s blow had been intelligently placed, and the fall wouldn’t cut any wires. Chris replaced the plate. He felt his hips. The M6Ds were there. He must have holstered them out of instinct when he ran for the NOVA. Chris didn’t know why, but he felt better knowing he had a weapon or two still. Suddenly everything was underwater. Chris looked about him. He was at the bottom of some pool. The NOVA had been buried in mud from the impact. One bank lazily sloped down to the bed, and Chris walked out with ease. Chris noted a set of footprints. No doubt they belonged to Marcus. That meant he was still alive, having similarly fell into the pool. He also noticed a set of heavier footprints. The Juggernaut was still about as well. He had to get to Marcus before the Juggernaut did. He followed the footprints and was soon rewarded by the sound of an assault rifle being cocked.

“Hello?” came a familiar voice.

“Its me,” Chris replied. He walked into the cave, which would be too small for the Juggernaut to enter. Marcus was thinking on his feet. Inside were some recently dug graves and a couple assault rifles.

“They knocked you down too? What’s the status on the NOVA?”

“I knocked it over the edge so that they couldn’t get at it. My fall was voluntary.”

“And where’s the NOVA now?”

“Sank in the mud at the bottom of the pool I fell in. Perfectly operational or the timer linked with our HUDs would have stopped.” Marcus’s head cocked slightly, as if he had just noticed the timer had reset and was counting down.

“Well, now that the NOVA is secure, we going to get off this ring or are we going to die trying?”

“Hold on. I’ll try and make contact.” Chris began broadcasting FLEETCOM7. “Are there any UNSC personnel still in system?” There was only static. Then Chris had a thought. He closed FLEETCOM7 and activated the small COM device Councilor ‘Nodotee had given him. “This is SPARTAN-048. Councilor ‘Nodotee, can you hear me. Please triangulate off this signal and pick me and SPARTAN-098 up if you can. The NOVA is secure and no longer requires guarding.”

"This is SPARTAN-048. Councilor ‘Nodotee, can you hear me. Please triangulate off this signal and pick me and SPARTAN-098 up if you can. The NOVA is secure and no longer requires guarding."

'Nodotee had a lock on their location, "Pilot, pick up the survivors! Then we'll go for the Spartans." The Phantom disengaged the parasite and quickly took off gathering the remaining Sangheili. After the six surviving Sangheili were on board the Phantom came back for 'Nodotee and the three Lekgolo. The Lekgolo went up first, Councilor 'Nodotee took one last look around the battle field and started over for the Grav Lift.

However, someone caught his eye. 'Nodotee turned to face the old friend, "Eych Euqoree, I'm disappointed to see what's become of you." Eych stood merely ten meters away, infected by the parasite. The Phantom would have to wait, Eych must be put to rest. The Combat Form leaped high into the air, almost landing on 'Nodotee. 'Nodotee slashed out with the energy sword, but Eych avoided the blow. The Combat Form then drew an energy sword of his own. Councilor 'Nodotee chuckled, "Fool, you were never a good swordsmen in life, what makes you think you're good in death?" The Combat Form ignored the remark and charged 'Nodotee, the swords met in a flash of light. The Combat form jumped again, trying to get behind the Councilor, but to no prevail. 'Nodotee cut Eych out of the sky, the parasite landed in two pieces at 'Nodotee's feet. "Pity you didn't believe me brother, you might have lived."

'Nodotee then proceeded up the Phantom's lift. "We must hurry. This NOVA won't wait any longer, home in on this location." The Phantom then arced upward and took off for the Spartans.

Chris-048 and Marcus-098 sat in the small cavern. They had been here for a minute or so, waiting for a response from ‘Nodotee. However, the COM had crackled into static.

“Maybe we should move out. Certainly ‘Nodotee will find us now that he knows our general location,” suggested Marcus at length.

“Perhaps you are right…” Chris agreed. “We’ll head away from the pool. Certainly the entrance is in the opposite direction, and ‘Nodotee will come from the entrance.” The two Spartans grabbed all the spare ammunition lying about, checked to ensure their MA5B assault rifles were loaded and full on ammo, and then headed out of the cavern. The pair walked on for a minute before they saw the light. It was the most pure and beautiful light either had ever seen. It drew them in. Chris caught himself just staring blankly at it. He wanted the light. Marcus shook his head.

“Filter the light. Go to black-and-white image enhancement.” Chris saw the wisdom behind the command, and did as he was told. The desire to possess the light was gone, but they still agreed they’d best investigate the source. The two Spartans crept cautiously forward.

“What is it?” Chris asked, more to himself than Marcus. Before them sat a small glowing orb on a pedestal. Marcus shook his head. He really didn’t know.

“Should we take it?” he asked.

“I suppose so,” Chris replied. Chris reached out and touched the small orb. It seemed to pulse as he touched it, but did nothing else. He opened a small pouch on his leg and insert the orb where it would be safe.

“Maybe its some technology left over by the Forerunner,” Chris suggested.

“The who?” asked Marcus.

“The ring builders,” Chris replied.

“Oh…” There was silence. Marcus slid his combat knife out of its sheath and began to twirl it. Chris could tell by his body language that something was bothering him. After a long moment, Marcus turned to Chris, still fingering his combat knife uneasily. “Chris, I didn’t tell you about Earth did I?”

Marcus watched the area around the small antechamber they were in. The Juggernaut would be back, and this time he would kill it. He looked down at his combat knife and chuckled uneasily. "Chris, I never told you about Earth did I?" Marcus asked. "No" replied the Spartan. "The Covenant atacked on the 20th" Marcus said slowly. Marcus was still worried about Earth. Ever since he had been ordered to leave he had no knowledge of what was happening. But did he want to know? Did he want to know if the UNSC was destroyed? Did he want to know if humanity was finished?. It had been several days since he stood on Earth's surface. But it seemed like eternity.

Marcus looked up from the ground and realised tear ran down his face. He shouldn't be crying he was a Spartan. But with the UNSC dying what did it matter ? Marcus heard a roar and raised his combat knife. He saw a shadow in the distance. It was running towards him. "About time," he muttered.

The fireball curled up into the sky as she rolled to a stop. "No, Adrian!" Angel yelled out, reaching forwards towards the explosion of fire in front of her, as Adrian became engulfed in the direct hit of the rockets. The Enforcer began to slowly move closer, to inspect the attack, and possibly grab the surviving Spartan from her hole. "No..." She muttered, as her H.U.D. fizzled for a moment in the static of the blast, as shrapnel and such panged and ricocheted off of ther armor. She had no need to shield herself though, because she felt nothing of the blast. Adrian had pushed her aside at the last moment... Sacrificing himself for her. Her eyes became heavy, as a stream of tears began to run from her eyes and were absorbed into the inner lining of her helmet and dried.

It hurt... To cry after so long.

Then, the static stopped. And the smoke began to clear. And on her H.U.D. read the callsign of her teammate: SII-014. A smile crept across her lips, as she hoped and prayed for him to be alright. Everything in her body screamed at her to run except for her heart, and that was what drove her to stay and wait.

And her prayers were answered; as a wave of relief and happiness washed across her face.

The glow was the first thing she saw as it broke the plane of the smoke that was clearing. Then it was the faint outline of the Mjolnir armor. And finally, she saw him, as the dust cloud fell and he was visible again. She took a step forward, happiness overtaking her. All the Spartan training they could have done, as Dr. Halsey had once told her, couldn't prepare her for the emotions coupled with love. And they were all rushing out; concern, worry, happiness, anger, helplessness, futility...

Adrian raised a hand towards her, as she took another step and stopped, standing up straight. The Spartan was not the same as before; He was different now. His shield was glowing...

It crackled with intensity and electricity, which seemed to curl around his fingertips as he held his hand up to her. He got up off of his knees, his other hand clutching something in it, which seemed to glow ominously too. The Enforcer continued forward, to inspect this new development. It began to analyze him, and the possibility of survival played again in it's circuitry; then it analyzed the item he clutched in his hand. It no longer looked like an ordinary orb. It had several glowing symbols on it, ruinic in their shape. Now, the sides had folded out into what looked to be almost wings on the capacitor-like object. The recycle and build method of energy charging... An almost limitless supply of power. (Also known as the same kind of technology that the Covenant borrowed and refitted to use as their overshields. Thought I didn't have an explanation? Just trying to tie up some underlying loose-ends here. xD)

It sparked and crackled, as the Enforcer lurched back. It was recognizing what it was up against, and analyzing the data. It was figuring the best course of action as Adrian loaded five more of the explosive bullets into his rifle and slammed the hammer down, pointing it up at the monster in the sky.

-Pop- -Pop- -Pop- -Bang-

The Enforcer was now a smoldering, crumbling, heap of nothing on the ground; destroyed by Adrian and his BR-55X's ability to use a single loading function for sniper calibur bullets. Being a prototype model, the gun had two functions; semi-auto and burst. And after field testing... It became blatently obvious which one saved more marine lives.

Burst.

But to a Spartan, who can stall time during battle and use that Semi-Auto function usefully, there were ways to take advantage of it. And that's exactly what Adrian was doing. Exploiting a couple good things. He turned to Angel, who straightened up even more seeing her idolic love sparking and covered in that intense shield. She had seen it twice before... Once against the Covenant outside the forerunner city... And again as he stopped the Plasma lances from hitting the Hesperus... And both times, it wasn't the same Adrian. She feared this might be the same.

"Lets move... More of those things are coming..." He muttered out, walking past her, his rifle at the ready. She stood frozen for a moment, and then nodded. She followed her glowing comrade, who had since tucked away orb into his satchel pocket for safety, yet the shield capacitor was still fluxuation in synch with it. He smirked as he continued to walk down the hallway.

"You heard those explosions, we have to go back!" Warren yelled, struggling in Curtis' abundantly more powerful grip. He was flailing his arms, trying to wrench himself free as his M7's hung at his waist, dangling as he was being dragged further into the tunnels. "Don't you want to help them! What are we even doing here if we don't have Adrian!" Warren yelled out, as Curtis stopped with his eyes widened. Peterson and Angelou stopped walking too, holding their rifles across their chests, looking back at Warren and Curtis, confused.

He hadn't thought about that, and now Bravo team from the Anasazi were missing too. This was such a mess. Curtis opened up a comm. link with them, to try and regroup. "This is Private First Class Curtis Jennings... Bravo Team, do you read me?" His deep, dark voice lulled over the radio. All he got back was static...

"C'mon guys... We're going back..." Curtis said, turning and letting go of Warren, who let out another deep sigh as he got to his feet. He brushed his ass off, as it had gotten just alittle dusty on the way. Curtis was already stomping his way back up the tunnel, towards Angel and Adrian, with Peterson and Angelou in toe.

"Hey you guys... Don't leave me! This was my idea!" Warren yelled out, running to catch up with them. As he did, Peterson turned to the now panting Warren with a raised eyebrow coupled with a smirk. Warren scowled back, and the Peterson laughed as Warren crossed his arms and huffed. Alot of subliminal messages being sent, huh.

Angel and Adrian finally met back up with Curtis and his group. There was quite a story to be told on how they survived, but no-one really felt like bringing it up to Adrian as they saw him encased in his shield. Not only did it harden him from attack on the outside, it seemed to harden him on the inside too; make him colder and scarier, much more efficient. Somebody you want to be in a fox-hole with, not neccesarily at a kegger.

They decided, on the intuitions of Adrian who was unquestionably in charge of where they were headed, down a narrow shaft which they ended up sliding down mostly. They were headed deeper and deeper into the bowels of the ringworld, underneath this god-forsaken factory complex. The look on each of their faces was a mixture of both worry, and confidence.

Worried about the uncertainty of where they were going, but confident in the certainty Adrian knew something of where he was going. He did, as a matter of fact. His smirk rested firmly on his lips, as he continued to walk. "I'm coming..." He muttered under his breath, for no-one but him and the impossibly quiet Helen to hear. Core Weapon Power Generation Station

SPARTAN-N1 had learnt the craft of stealth from the masters of warfare: the Class-I of SPARTAN-IIs, those mighty gods of renown. Recordings from TACVID - visual records of their combat...access to the elite instructors of the SPARTAN-IIs and SPARTAN-IIIs...yes, precipitiously expensive for an ONI Section III pet project, yet a necessary one.

Her lithe figure, encapsulated in half a ton of amorphous armor plating, shielding technology borrowed without permission from the Covenant, and armed with the shield of Faith and the knowledge of War (to ensure the psychological statuses of the Class II SPARTAN-IIs, the shrinks had recommended that the SPARTAN-IIs be allowed religion to shield themselves from mental breakdowns...and if even one Nova Spartan fell into that dank hole, it would be a tragedy of consummate terribleness), was perched behind a pipe of roiling, murky liquids. A rather massive one, the size of a Scorpion MBT in diameter, and its sound a gentle thrum. Environmental reclaimation. ONI had not only recognized the offensive measures of this Ring-Weapon-Destructor of Galaxies-Whatever, but also its self-sustaining ones. Ecological waste and corpses (i.e., those of Flood), were channeled into trillions of tubules that spanned across the ring, underneath the soil. Specially configured Sentinels were designed to collect these, and dump them into the surface tubules, which converged and converged into billions, millions, thousands, and finally...penultimate, gargantuan terminus tubes. Several hundred of them. Terminus Environmental Tube 7 actually passed across the central room of the geodesic sphere that encompassed the Generator Room, and it multifercated into many tubules that scattered across its surface, and at the edge of the sphere, actually intruded into the sphere. Gently lit in the wavering heliotrope light of a nearby UV substation for the primary generators, one these smaller tubules ran across the wall...convenient cover for Athena as she perched there, sighted the inbound UNSC forces with her sniperscope.

A psychologist could call her psyche "troubling" at the least. Murder was routine, expected, even thirsted for by the SPARTAN-II. Her heart had no resovle to oppose her commands to murder the hapless UNSC personnel.

A rustle: her whisper, easily buffeted by the thrumming of the environmental tubule. "Nova Team, this is Nova-1. Targets spotted. Set up the electrostatic detonators."

Cheers,

Marcus ran towards the juggernaut. It swung out one of its tentacles and Marcus dived onto the ground narrowly missing the arm. Chris who was behind Marcus unleashed a volley of Magnum rounds. They caught the huge flood form in the chest. The large creature staggered for a second. It let out a shriek and it grabbed Chris with it's tentacles. Marcus looked up from the ground and saw that Chris was struggling to get out of the monsters grasp. "Oh no, not him too" Marcus yelled. He grabbed his Combat Knife and threw it at the creature's back. It sank hilt deep into the creature. Once again the creature let out a shriek. It threw Chris into a wall and turned to face Marcus. "That's right ... come on you ugly mother -" Marcus was cut off as the flood form smacked him. Marcus landed in a pool of mud. He looked up and saw the creature raise it's foot above him. He quickly took off his helmet and threw it at the Juggernaut's head. The force of the throw was sufficent enough to knock the Juggernaut back. Marcus quickly stood up and sprinted towards the Juggernaut. He used all his strength to throw himself into the staggering Juggernaut. The Juggernaut who had lost it's balance was thrown from it's location and into the ground.

Marcus raised his fists and beat the Juggernaut. The creature quickly threw Marcus off of it and stood up straight. "God Damnit" Marcus yelled as he landed on a rock. He felt a jolt of pain in his back. He looked up at the Juggernaut as another tear ran down his face. The creature seemed to smile. Marcus quickly realised it was the bitter end for him. He hung his head and noticed he still had one grenade left. --Ares.117 00:21, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

"No!" A voice shouted from down a narrow hallway to the left as a bullet tore though the air and impacted the flood Juggernaut with extreme velocity, knocking it back with the subsequent explosions force upon impact. From the hallway ran two Spartans, to accompany their fighting brethren in this struggle. Adrian growled, seeing the Juggernaut regain it's footing and turn to him now.

"Are you alright?" Angel-054 asked as she ran over to Marcus who was now helmetless on the ground. She looked up as the Juggernaut blindly charged towards Adrian, her eyes widening and moving to catch it. Yet, her body didn't respond... This battle had taken it's toll on her mental state. She was not able to continue... And her body wouldn't respond to her will.

He didn't even flinch, as he reached into the pouch on his side and retrieved his weapon; The orb. He raised it in his right hand, narrowed his eyes and pressed down on both small circles on either side. He was awashed in the blinding, sparking light as the energy held within the battery-like capacitor flooded his shields and surged through his body.

"Come with it then..." He muttered under his breath, as the Juggernaut roared out and flung it's tentacles from both arms directly at Adrian. He reared back with his right foot and got some extra reinforced footing. He grunted, taking the tentacles directly on. The impact would've knocked him back through the wall, yet as the shield around him died down from the absorbed impact, he held under each arm the monster's tentacles as it screeched and tried to thrown him while struggling. But all it could do was flail, as Adrian tightened his grip.

But even a Spartan's strength wasn't infinite, yet the Flood form seemed to have no trouble continued to strike around in it's struggle to free itself from Adrian's hold, as the orb in his hand finally fell to the ground in the mud. He didn't care; he wasn't letting go of this thing.

More people would not die while he was there!

"Hey, kill this thing! I can't hold on much longer..." He growled through his teeth to Chris, as Adrian's modified BR-55X released itself from the hair-like attachment on his back and jettisoned as far back as he could get the suit to send it; several feet in front of Chris. In it's chamber still remained one more explosive shell remained in it's case.

Warren and the others finally caught up, running after their comrades who had sprinted ahead with utmost intent after seeing two Spartan tags flash onto their H.U.D.'s. Their eyes all widened as they saw the deformed monster being held prone as it's tentacles whipped around trying to get free from Adrian's death grip; slapping up dirt as his footing began to give. "Helen... Help..." Adrian muttered into his comm... Hoping she could re-establish his footing somehow.

"I'll do what I can... I'm sorry... I was..." Helen was stumbling, as she normally did when he was serious and fighting. He had learnt not to fully rely on her, and more on himself, knowing she was so closely related to Angel and probably was even more in touch with emotions than her 'mother'. It was crazy; how Adrian and her had come so far...

The shielding crackled to life again around Adrian's top, but nothing around his bottom. With nearly no shield, his footing became more absolute and he was able to begin pulling on the beast himself. "You're not taking me you ugly fucker..." Adrian growled under his breath, gritting his teeth. CaptainAdamGraves 02:27, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

A female Spartan approached Marcus and asked him a question. He barely understood what it was she asked. He tried to mumble a reply but to no avail. He tried to stand but another sharp jolt ran through his spine. He almost yelled in pain. Marcus pushed himself from the rock and he landed on the ground. The female Spartan tried to hold Marcus back but he just kept going. Mud landed on his face as he crawled towards the Juggernaut.

Marcus was almost in spitting distance of the Juggernaut. He unhooked his grenade and tried to stand again. He was again replied by sharp pain. Marcus leapt onto the back of the Juggernaut. Tears flowing from his eye's because of the pain. He primed his grenade and attached it to the knife sticking out of the creature's back. He drew the knife/grenade and shoved it into the hole made by the Magnum rounds in the creatures chest. The other Spartan understanding what Marcus was doing jumped for cover. "Eat this Mother .... Fucker" Marcus managed to whisper as he fell off the creature and entered unconciousness. --Ares.117 03:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

The Phantom slowed to a halt, and 'Nodotee descended down the grav lift. At the bottom he saw the damage 'Nifumee had caused, as well as 'Nifumee's remains. "Hmm, pity. I wished i could have finished 'Nifumee.", Councilor 'Nodotee started to walk over to Chris. Then 'Nodotee noticed there were even more humans and Spartans then the last time he was there...

Random fire opened up on 'Nodotee as he dove for cover, then Chris spoke up, "Hold fire, i repeat, Hold fire. That's Councilor 'Nodotee, he's leading the Covenant here, and he's a friend. 'Nodotee is the one who's going to get us off this ring before it goes up in flames." The other UNSC personnel looked around at each other, very much confused. Marcus then confirmed Chris's statement, but Marcus seemed hurt. They seemed somewhat more at ease.

Councilor 'Nodotee quickly stiffened and addressed the humans, "Comrades, we must leave here soon. Now everyone, to the Phantom quickly." Several marines didn't wait, the ran over to the grav lift. However the two new Spartans were more careful, they never let their guard down. Then Chris helped Marcus on board.

Once everyone was on board, 'Nodotee took one last look around the Scared Ring. What a shame it must be destroyed. The Councilor then followed the other up.

The Phantom arced skyward and raced away. The Phantom went straight for Bloodied Remnants, the humans would have to wait to rejoin their fleet.

"Damn-it Adrian! Where are you?!" Graves yelled out, slamming his fists onto the railing as the cargo doors to the Hesperus closed slowly, blocking the legion of flood out from entering the ship as the crew prepared her for voyaging. The Flood carrier forms kept coming, along with combat's wielding swords, fuel rod cannons and rocket launchers. The hull of the ship rocked violently, as the shock of the continuous explosions rattled her to her core. The auto-cannons continued to try and limit the amount of attackers making their way towards the ship. Another sound of explosion rocked the ship to the side slightly as the MAC cannon unleashed a furious final blast from hell onto the advancing flood forms; clearing away whole platoons of the tightly gathered flood. It was as if they were looking for the smallest hole to squeeze their way into.

But the crew of the Hesperus had been thorough in preventing that.

A currently nameless ensign manned the position that Peterson had vacated. He obviously knew what he was doing, as he brought all combat and radar systems online in a single foul-swoop across the boards. If not for the somberness of the situation, if it had been any other time in the young man's duty, he would have commended him for his cool actions under pressure. But this wasn't one of those times. If this young man, who looked no more than 18, got them safely off of this god-forsaken ring Graves would commit the name on his tag to memory. It read "Avery".

Graves' grip tightened on the railing, as he stared down at the floor beneath him. He couldn't live with what he was doing; leaving a man who had become almost a brother to him behind. He was fighting with himself, as he knew the lives of the many outweighed those of the few. No matter whom the few were...

O'Shay turned to him, and didn't even say a word. He knew Graves saw him, and also that he knew what was needed. A single tear could be seen falling to the ground from Graves lowered head. "Launch..." The words seemed to hang in the air, ominous with the impeding doom of the planet ring-world and the death of the crew who were still on the ring.

O'Shay nodded, flipping some switches and activating the systems to put the freighter giant into gear. The engines roared to life, incinerating a horde of flood who had taken shelter behind and inside of the rear-mounted colossal engines. They flared to life, after being dormant for so long now after crash landing on the ring. The ship lurched forwards, tearing up the ground beneath it as it gathered enough speed to clear the mountains ahead. The enormous protrusions inched closer and closer as it became clear that the Hesperus was going to call it close on this one. The Hesperus, the massive freighter in all it's glory, finally pulled up from the ground as the after-burners were exerted to give it a small push. Graves didn't even look up as the distance to impact continued to sound off. '500 meters... 300... 100... 50...' And then finally, the ship cleared the mountain range and escaped this hell-hole called Halo.

Adrian had his arm around Angel, their helmets concealing faces full of relief and sorrow. She was completely distraught mentally now, having nearly lost Adrian three times since they had been re-united. Imagine just what she had lived through. Her entire team of Spartans had been massacred on Reach as she watched from the side-lines without any way of helping, then she left the system just to find herself neck deep in a struggle for survival between the Hesperus and a Covenant frigate. Now she had battled tooth and nail against the covenant, the flood, and forerunner machines hours after waking from a coma. She was strong... To even still be functioning.

Adrian lifted his head from hers, and procured his arms from behind her back. He needed to talk to the other Spartan. Something was guiding him towards Chris, and Adrian thought he knew what it was. He held in his possession another orb, similar if not the same, as the one he used to amplify the output of the shield technology. If Chris didn't want it, he would gladly take it. Imagine the prospect of being able to study the effects of using two amplifiers on the shields. And what could ONI do with this technology, especially after Adrian and Helen could finish analyzing it's effects on him. But if Chris wanted to keep it, then it was Adrian's responsibility to teach him how to properly use the device without harming himself or others.

Adrian got to his feet, as Angel watched him walk away with a solemnity all to herself. She sighed, and closed her eyes, allowing her tired and frail spirit to fall victim to the lull in the battle they were in. She almost found herself falling asleep in the ship, and would have if she trusted her surroundings enough. This alliance was just too sudden for her, yet she knew with the Sangheili's help they could win this war for sure. But she also understood the danger of betrayal.

Adrian walked over to Chris, and placed his right hand on the Spartan's left shoulder. This kind of contact would signify right away the seriousness of what Adrian was going to say, as contact between the Spartans had their double and sometimes triple meanings. He pulled the orb from his pouch, and showed it to Chris. "Did you happen to find something like this?"

Then the ship began to rock to the side, as one of the piloting Sangheili turned to Councilor 'Nodotee with shock in his voice. "Excellency, we're being pursued by the ring's protectors with great vigor. We are trying to evade, but there are too many..." He said, turning back to damage control and point defense. The plasma torpedo turrets on the Phantom were hot from fighting, keeping the incoming sentinels and Enforcers as far away as possible. There were just too many though. As one fell, four took its place. This didn't look good for the survivors.

"Damnit, out of the frying pan and into the fire! Isn't that how this shit always goes!" Warren yelled out, stomping his foot. He was sick of this, always being shot at or having to shoot some zombie-like creatures or being shuttled away from a bomb so explosive that they had to go into space to escape it. Things like this, man, let you know you were alive. And as he sat back down, leaning against the wall next to Angel, a small smile crept across his face. Oh well, they kicked some ass at least.

The ship lurched to the side once more, evading a stream of the sentinel's beams. The ship rattled and creaked as it maneuvered further into the sky as its pursuer's followed in what seemed like a cloud of metal. Then... several large explosions began to filter through the cloud of Sentinels, destroying several dozen in each blast. A yell of excitement sounded through the open comm. channel in the Phantom, as several screams of supersonic jets sounded outside the Phantom as well. "Sorry to join the party so late, boys. But I hope we're not crashing in on your fun." The familiar voice of Jason Orion flooded through the Phantom, as several smiles a lit the human’s faces, as well as that of the pilots of the Phantom. Two Longswords flew past the Phantom, cutting it close, as two Shortswords followed them and flew above the Phantom. They all released their remaining ASGM-10 Missiles towards the clouds of remaining Sentinels. The resulting explosion could be felt within the interior of the Phantom, resonating throughout. The Sentinel problem was being dealt with by the human pilots, allowing the Phantom to escape. "Just keep our boys safe, alright?" Jason said over the radio, as he doubled back for another run at the straggling metal remnants of the forerunner civilization to clean them up.

"Of course. Your help is most appreciated human." The Sangheili pilot said over the radio link, as Jason cut out from the comm. channel. They were going to survive this, because together, the two forces had the power to overcome all obstacles no matter how daunting. And that philosophy would be put to the test soon enough... 0727 Hours, October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Covenant Phantom Divine Darkness

Chris-048 was the last to board the Phantom Divine Darkness. They set course for the Bloodied Remnants. Chris moved over towards Councilor ‘Nodotee. The two held a muted conversation that ended in agreement over their course of action. Chris walked back to rejoin the other Spartans. Marcus-098 was unconscious, some of his MJOLNIR armor blasted away by the grenade and his skin badly scorched. Angel-054 seemed to be sleeping, but he could tell she was not. Adrian-014 was the only other Spartan up and about, and he was walking towards Chris. He put his hand on Chris’s shoulder. Chris understood that what he was going to say was important. He reached into a small pouch in his armor and pulled out a shiny orb similar to the one Chris had found in the caves where they had fought the Juggernaut.

“Did you happen to find something like this?” he asked. Before Chris could even decide on his answer, another voice cut in.

“Excellency, we’re being pursued by the ring’s protectors with great vigor. We are trying to evade, but there are too many…” Odch ‘Siburee, the Sangheili pilot clad in deep purple armor, exclaimed. One of the marines that had been with Adrian yelled something, but Chris was more focused on a panel that showed the aft camera. Behind them was an army of Sentinels and Enforcers. But Chris saw something else faintly in that screen; he saw help. The Divine Darkness lurched to port to evade the Sentinel beams that cut across the sky and the missiles and needles launched by the Enforcers. Then the aft camera was filled with dust as twin explosions engulfed the leading Sentinels.

Sorry to join the party so late, boys. But I hope we’re not crashing in on your fun.” The four single-ships, two Longswords and two Shortswords Chris had barely perceived in the panel came into view behind the Phantom, then broke formation to engage the Sentinels. “Just keep our boys safe, alright?” The Phantom sped off, breaking the gravity well of Installation 03 with its four escorts not too far behind. They flew to the Bloodied Remnants, which was parked in space just outside of the installation’s gravitational influence. All five ships docked in the port fighter bay. Councilor ‘Nodotee wasted no time. Even before he was on the bridge, he had ordered the ship to move off towards the moon, Portal.

“How long until we are outside of the blast radius?” Councilor ‘Nodotee asked.

“Excellency, we will have escaped in seven units,” a Sangheili clad in red armor responded.

“Unacceptable. We need to be out of the blast radius in four units!” the Councilor roared. “Redline the reactors. The bomb will go off in five units!” There was a sudden lurch as the Bloodied Remnants screamed forward away from the ring towards Portal. Behind them, there came a bright flash. The blast wave washed over the ship, pushing it forward. On the surface of the gas giant, Foundation, a giant storm erupted.

0801 Hours (Ship’s Time), October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Covenant Assault Carrier Bloodied Remnants

The Bloodied Remnants drifted slowly around Portal in a lazy orbit. Every second brought it closer to the UNSC Hesperus, which either didn’t notice it or wasn’t letting on that it did. Shch ‘Nodotee was worried about approaching the human vessel. From the response he had received when he landed to pick up the humans in the tunnels, the crew of the Hesperus didn’t know about the Covenant alliance. He wondered if this would turn out like the UNS Argo, which had fired on the Councilor’s ships even though they had been informed of the alliance. He looked to Adrian-014, who had been learning to use the communications station. Adrian looked up at him. Though the Councilor couldn’t see through the polarized faceplate, he knew Adrian was looking for something. ‘Nodotee nodded. Adrian turned back to the console and flipped to E-Band.

“This is Petty Officer Second Class SPARTAN-014. Does anybody read me?” There was only static. The static cut for a second, but then continued. “I repeat, this is Petty Officer Second Class SPARTAN-014. Do any UNSC forces read me? Please respond.” More static. He opened a narrow-beam transmission with the Hesperus. “What, do you want me to buy you a drink, Captain?” he said half sarcastically.

As a matter of fact, I do,” came the reply. “Where the hell did you go?

“A little unfinished business. I am currently aboard the Covenant Assault Carrier Bloodied Remnants. We are approaching you and looking for a hard dock.”

You’re aboard the what!?

“The Bloodied Remnants, sir.”

Did you take the ship? Is that what you’ve been doing all this time?

“No sir.”

What, have you been captured or something?

“Negative. The Covenant in this area have allied themselves with us. I rode along with several other Spartans and several…” he paused.

“Sangheili,” came a private whisper from Chris-048.

“Several Sangheili.” Captain Graves said nothing. “Warren’s with me,” Adrian offered.

Alright, get your ass over here, but make it quick. I don’t know if I trust any Covenant…whatever you called ‘em.

0805 Hours (Ship’s Time), October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ UNSC Parabola-class Freighter Hesperus

Three Spartans and a small group of marines and naval personnel walked down the makeshift hallway that connected the Hesperus and the Bloodied Remnants. It was odd to compare the two ships, the Covenant Assault Carrier being easily ten times the size of the UNSC Freighter. At the end of the hallway stood Captain Adam Graves.

“Welcome back boys,” he stated coolly. He looked nervous. Chris-048 didn’t hold it against him. Graves, like every other human here, had spent much of his life fighting the Covenant. To force an alliance upon him now was a lot to ask. But then, the Captain hid his feelings well, as only the Spartans could read his nervousness from his appearance.

“It’s good to be back,” the pilot of one of the Longswords replied. “They’re towing our ships into the docking bay as we speak.” He seemed like he would rather be flying it himself, but he didn’t let on that he didn’t like others handling his craft.

“I won’t be staying long,” Chris said. Everyone turned to him, partially in disbelief.

“And why not?” asked Graves.

“Sir, SPARTAN-098 sustained several severe wounds that need treatment. I’m staying with him. Think of us as ambassadors to the Covenant Separatists. The Captain mulled over this statement for a few seconds, then nodded in agreement. He came to attention, and Chris returned his salute. The others began to walk off. Chris came up behind Adrian and put his hand on his shoulder.

“Yes, Chris?” Adrian asked.

“About what you asked me earlier,” Chris muttered, rummaging through a pouch on his leg. He pulled out and handed Adrian the orb he had found in the tunnels of Installation 03. Adrian looked down at it for a long moment, and when he looked up, Chris was already half-way down the hallway.

“Goodbye, Chris,” Adrian murmured to himself. He turned and went through the airlock. The transaction complete, the hallway was deconstructed and pulled back into the Bloodied Remnants and the two ships parted. The Bloodied Remnants headed towards Foundation and the debris field to search for survivors and the Hesperus turned towards an inconspicuous carrier drifting about further past Portal.

0829 Hours (Ship’s Time), October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ UNSC Carrier Devastator

“What is the ship’s status?” Admiral Agahowa asked.

“Sir, we still haven’t gotten the Slipspace drive back online,” one of the bridge crew replied.

“Keep working. Make a jump out of system as soon as humanly possible.” The Admiral turned back to the TACMAP, which showed the debris of the ring, the gas giant Foundation, its moon Portal, and two other ships in the system. One of those ships was UNSC the other was Covenant. The UNSC ship turned towards his ship.

This is Captain Adam Graves of the UNSC Hesperus to Admiral Yakubu Agahowa of the UNSC Devastator, do you copy?” burst through the ship’s COM system.

“This is Admiral Agahowa. It’s good to hear from you. We’re having some engine trouble. Care to assist?” the Admiral replied.

Roger that. I’ll be over there right away.” The COM shut off. Agahowa smiled. It looked like he’d be leaving the system after all. The Hesperus took some time to get to him, but it docked immediately. Several Pelicans went back and forth, bringing engineers and supplies to the Devastator.

“I really appreciate this, Captain,” Agahowa said to Graves, who had been aboard the first Pelican to arrive.

“Think nothing of it. It’s the least I could do for an admiral.” Graves smiled back at Agahowa. “I just want to put as much space between us and here as possible as quickly as possible. Repairs will be done within the hour.”

“And then we set course for Earth,” Agahowa declared.

“I have my own plans. However, good speed to you. From what I’ve heard, Earth was attacked.”

“Indeed it was, and we need every ship we can get. I want you to come with us.” The Captain wasn’t smiling anymore, and he hesitated to answer.

“Aye aye, sir,” he finally managed. He turned and went back to his own ship. When the repairs were done, Agahowa set a Slipspace course for Earth.

“See you on the other end,” he transmitted to the Hesperus.

Indeed, sir,” Graves replied. Something in his voice made Agahowa doubt whether or not he really would, but he was in Slipspace before he could say a thing.

0829 Hours (Ship’s Time), October 28, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Assault Carrier Bloodied Remnants

Chris-048 pulled another canister of biofoam out. He inserted the nozzle into an area where Marcus-098’s armor had been blown away by the grenade. He covered the burn wounds with biofoam, hoping to ease Marcus’s pain. Marcus regained consciousness.

“Did…we make it?” he asked weakly, before passing out again.

“Yes, we made it,” Chris replied to himself. Councilor ‘Nodotee walked into the Covenant medical bay.

“How if our friend doing?” he asked.

“He’s doing alright. The regenerative medicine you gave him is progressing nicely. His burn wounds should be healed up in a couple days, though I’d guess he’ll have some nasty scarring.”

“It is good to know he survived the fight,” the Councilor said before going back to his duties commanding the ship.

“Where do you think we should go?” asked Chris. “Do you think we should head for Earth?”

“No. Your fellow humans may not yet know of my alliance with them, and there would be unnecessary death. We will go to the holy city, High Charity. My fellow Sangheili would never fire on an Sangheili-controlled ship.”

“Is see. But if the civil war has been wide spread like you described, then would there not be fighting there?”

“Certainly there would.”

“SPARTAN-098 and I are not fit for combat. His suit is damaged in many places and his physical state is still improving, and my suit’s shields are malfunctioning. I can fight without my shields, but it would be better to have them.”

“Oh, do not worry, the Huragok will repair both your suits. Some say there is nothing the Huragok cannot repair.”

“Alright then, let’s take the fight to the…what’s the Covenant word for Brutes?”

“Jiralhanae.”

“Okay. Let’s take the fight to the…Jiralhanae…am I saying it right?”

0457 Hours (Ship’s Time), October 29, 2552 (Military Calendar)/ Assault Carrier Bloodied Remnants, Slipspace

Marcus-098 awoke. He looked around. He was on a Covenant ship. Why was he not on a UNSC ship? Had the Covenant betrayed them? No, Councilor ‘Nodotee may be an alien, but he was an honorable alien. All Elites were. Sangheili, Marcus corrected himself. It would be quite an adjustment to use the races’ real names, but he would certainly try. It was a sign of respect towards their new found allies.

“Awake I see. You’ve been out for…better part of nine hours,” came a human voice from one corner of the room.

“Chris, I see you made it out alright. What of the other Spartans and the Captain?”

“We delivered them to the Hesperus and parted ways.”

“Did anyone else make it?”

“There were several Pelicans from the Argo that we managed to collect. They fired on the ship, but they couldn’t do any real damage. I ordered them to stand down.”

“So where exactly are we and where are we heading?”

“We’re currently in Slipspace en route to the Covenant homeworld. We’re going to help the Councilor retake High Charity, which may be overrun by Jiralhanae, or perhaps we will be ushered in by Sangheili and be true ambassadors of the UNSC. Either way, things are good. One way, we get to kill us some aliens, and the other, we save the UNSC from fighting the Sangheili.” Marcus took a few seconds to sort out Jiralhanae, then nodded. Chris was right.

“And our armor?” Marcus asked.

“What of it? Have you looked at yours?” Chris replied. Marcus looked down to where the grenade had blasted parts of his armor away, but found that new pieces had been grafted into place. However, instead of the normal green, these pieces were black, indicating Covenant design. “The Huragok repaired both our suits. And they added a few new toys.” Chris’s smile broadened.

“I understand. So we’re going to the Covenant homeworld? What’s our ETA?”

“The Councilor says it’ll take a day at the least, so we have plenty of time to get you back in shape after all that bed rest. Come on, we should begin immediately.” The two Spartans walked from the medical bay to a rather large area that ‘Nodotee had provided them for their own personal use. Around the room were simple makeshift weightlifting machines and some marines and Navy personnel. Things were just getting warmed up.

Epilogue

The war has not come to an end, yet. "Retribution", we herald! From every hand and arm our righteous anger flows. Woe to our enemies, agony to our foes. Once again, we shall fight, take the banner of avengeance. No more does the illusion of silence take the Imperium by force. Death bears down on all those that oppose us, and we inexorably press forward, undaunted. Nevermore shall gaiety ring in the Imperial halls, nevermore shall another voice praise.

A multifarious matrix of effulgence scythe the hyperborean air, interlacing beams of energy intersecting, touching upon metal and flesh. Such a horrific display of weaponry has not yet been seen, or never will. The greatest of war machines are felled, cast aside like a farmer threshing wheat. Maidens cry in distress, only to be obliterated by the constant pulsing of death and dismay. The energy beams whirl above the snow like dancers. Light and energy crisscross the eternal frost as the sky grows darker, bearing roiling storm. Actinic thunder streaks like javelins from the sky, crisping field artillery pieces. Blades ignite over the blood-dappeled white, twirling and interlocking, spraying life-blood across the snows.

A thousand fast runners dart from the clashing sides...beams ripple from the supporting artillery and their counterparts. Lines of fire erupt along the crests of their advances. None dare to venture forth against as the artillery continues its linear trajectories of a thousand fires. The air is aglow...and so is the planet. Fighters streak with terrible wrath, winging beams and burning the life out of their enemies. The massive bulks of capital ships crest through the frenzies of subatomic detonations and energy fighters, and further death spill forth from their batteries.

Lone on the polar white advance the apostles of death, reincarnated in the fires of Hell. Admist the zephyr of furious winds and energy beams, the maelstom of immolating anger building to a promethean apex above the winter battle...above even the warring spaceships...all eyes are fastened on their advance. Their armor is obsidian, all foes yield to their knees before their apocalyptic advance.

The End has come.

Sing not of life, but of avarice and umbra. Eternal Death has come.

September 3, 2552
Beam Weapon Core Generator Room

As the running lights gently rustled and SPARTAN-N4's final reconnaisance report came over TEAMCOM, the realization of the macabre death to come plunged a poisoned dagger into SPARTAN-N1's heart. They had failed. Failure was the ultimate punishment, above death. At least within death you would be secure in the enfoldings of mindlessness. No further thoughts. No pain. Only failure brought pain to Nova Team.

As the last of the Nova-class SPARTAN-IIs recollected by the wavering, catalysmic entubed pulsar of light in the center of the generator room: starburst cyan and blinding white, the primary source for the beam weapon, its waverings became progressively erratic. The NOVA bomb had been planted at an unknown location, and it was charging. The EMP was counteracting with the Forerunner electronics.

All was lost.

Nova Team's controller's androgynous voice had sounded in her tactical transciever a minute ago. Harsh. Unyielding. Relentless.

"You have failed, Nova Team."

Five words had brought despair upon Athena. All the training, technology...you can not even fathom the depths of the mental well that SPARTAN-N1 was entombed in. Not only would her grave be thermonuclear pyrotechnics, she had not completed the objective. No...even that can not seize her tragicness. All the five years of unspeakably horrid and agonizing biochemical augumentations...cross-weapons combat training, leadership, fireteam integration...would be quark soup after the NOVA bomb that those treacherous UNSC and Covenant bitches had planted.

You don't understand, still, right?

UNSC Special Warfare teams all have a controller. This controller is typically a mission controller from Special Warfare...but for some of the more...controvertible operations, a controller would be a political figure of considerable clout controlling the termination of another political figure of considerable clout. Damn right. Nova Team...had failed the controller's will. Every complication, Athena believed she had surmounted. Destruction of the Sentinel wardens, accessing the Sentinel controller interface in the Core Room that allowed her to unleash the plagues of Sentinels upon the UNSC. Setting the electrostatic charges. Killing the UNSC marines.

Yet, the traitorous SPARTAN-IIs had escaped her grasp!

Her mind turned to utter horridness T+2:00:00. She was the Angel of Death. None escaped her rule, for her grasp was Death's permafrost touch itself. None were to survive...except they did. Athena had lost, and so did Nova Team. As a whine built in intensity somewhere beneath them and the lights continued sputtering, sparks cascading from the 3-d holograms, faint cyan light leaked from the edges of the formerly crisp holographic projections. Even the Forerunners could not withstand the EMP. They should go to hell. And so should the SPARTAN-IIs. And the Covenant. And the Flood. And the UNSC. And herself, most of all.

T+1:00:00. The rest of Nova Team was prostrating. Prayer, as Nova Team was allowed to retain religion. Yet...Athena's every move had been concise, elegant, and perfect. She had not failed! It was not possible! Everything had gone according to plan, except it did not. A paradox. An antithetical statement.

All has succeeded...this is not true...

Another mind concurred with Athena. Wisps of smoky light veiled the SPARTAN-IIs, and as they were jolted out of reality, leaving shimmering pools of watery light in the air, hung in fateful abeyance, all the hell broke loose for Installation 03. Gamma Halo. Weapons Station 03 of the Galactic Defense Network.

Alluring voices hailed them, bathed them in light and sound, a feminine voice, fluttering, whispering in a thousand languages on a thousand frequencies. The SPARTAN-IIs were synthetically fused with fire as the voice multiplied into many, grew into corybantic screeches, high, frantic, increasing as the blood pounded thunderingly in SPARTAN-N1's ears...each strain of the galaxy fell into the discordant jumble...yet it was perfect in its dissonance...consonance, dissonance, glory, shame, light, darkness, life, death all aglore.

Without even the faintest sound, Installation 03 was transformed into a superheated conflagaration. Its silvery plume resonated with nebula brilliance as a supernova was birthed, as per the bomb's namesake. Atoms were defused on the subatomic level - all unraveled to quarks, and the fringes of this expanding debris cloud were tinged bloodred as it redshifted, and the core was alight with incandescence of silver and cyan, proclaiming the sheer thermal radiation.

All no more.
All aglore.
Heart mind soul
faith resolve
Retribution at hand, I am
Supercilious.

Posting Privileges Suspension

As aforementioned in the roleplaying section, all users have posting privileges suspended, effectively immediately as per 11:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) of the date December 22, 2006. This is because an effort to repair the RP is underway. All reconstruction efforts are below. POSTING PRIVILEGES RESTORED! Have fun!

These are things that need to be clarified in order of importance:

  • 1.
"Imperium in Imperio"
―supreme control exerted by the military over a civilian government

I am just setting things straight. Halopedia has never been a democracy, as per the actions of Esemono, and even though I'd like it to be more democratic, these are emergency times. Although this juxtaposes in a chiaroscuro world with the holiday spirit I'm encouraging, I am thereby assuming complete control of the RP until I unlift this ban. Users may only edit the "Posting Privileges Suspension" section. Only. I apologize for the inconvenience. I am the "Halo Wars" Roleplaying Moderator, but Captain Graves, Rot, and SPARTAN-091 are the Assistant Moderators. They have the jurisdiction to make immediate decisions in my absence. In a sustained absence, they are given control of the RP until I return. All their amends, following a brief concensus, are put into effect. When I log on and check, I will have control if his amends are formally passed, but in the several hour gap, they're the boss. This is not to piss anyone off: all the contributors have had very lively stories so far. I have sincerely enjoyed reading them. (good pressure relievers for final exams) This is just because they have shown that they are capable in arranging the disparate elements of this RP. Personal questions? Rants? =D Email me, RelentlessRecusant, at "alpha_217@verizon.net".

  • 2. Users participating and their position and rank
  • 3. Ships and ground operations units on current status

These are finer points that will be addressed. All users that violate the concensus must unfortunately have their posts temporarily withheld until it matches this continuity. Now, for the record...

  • 1. Covenant ships are extraordinarily powerful and durable. As mentioned in Halo: Fall of Reach, four Covenant frigates can hold off seven UNSC destroyers. Covenant frigates are not weaklings to be massacred.
  • 2. UNSC ships are pretty sucky. They are slow and weak. From now on, multiple starfighter bombing runs are required to do damage to Covenant warships. I do not know how Longswords and Shortswords miraculously evade Seraph interceptor screens and atomize frigates in nanoseconds.
  • 3. Who is in control of characters dying? The person who is sentenced to die. No one can kill anyone else without their explicit permission. For example, I can't kill SPARTAN-387 without he saying I can. I will find a way for anyone in an almost certain death situation to escape, if necessary.
  • 4. Who is control of ship names and ship destructions? The roleplayers, but I have the final jurisdiction. It is like I am the Supreme Justice presiding over an impeachment session for the President. The Senate votes, but I make sure everything is in line.
    • There were two UNSC Carriers: the Fimbulwinter and the Midway. Apu1212 controls the Fimbulwinter, and Jimmy controls the Midway. Now, Installation 03 blew the Fimbulwinter out of space. I am sorry, but it added to the climatic flare of the scene. Now, what happens? Apu1212, you have the chance to detect the mysterious energy spike and get the hell outta your ship before it dies. Furthermore, there is no carrier, destroyer, frigate, or anything called the Premier.
    • Some Covenant Frigates will be resurrected. Two of them went ring-side at the beginning, and the Divine Wrath and its two escorts headed to my ring when 49 P.S. "quickened" them.
  • 5. I am introducing Covenant reinforcements immediately at my discretion, if the community does not concur with bringing those frigates back to life. Goodness, those users didn't even agree to their ships being vaporized.

Happy holidays,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]H3 Monitor 04:01, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

User discussion comes here. If anyone has an issue with the aforementioned facts, raise a comment and a concensus shall be found in a proper and orderly manner.

  • hi just a question but are you reffering to when the Fimbul winter was destroyed earlier or is this a new kill for the ring after the hesperus and the destroyer head toward the ring becaus eif thsi is before then it is the same one as before the fimbulwinte rthat gets destroyed ok well get back to me RR thanks.J!MMY8806
    • I can't exactly discern your meaning, but my answer is this: the Ring has two kills: Fimbulwinter and Divine Wrath. (the DW can't run any ops planted into the ground) Cheers, 49 Proximal Secant[oracle]H3 Monitor 14:37, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
    • ok then just didnt get what was happening but i do now thanks and yes i agree that the rp is getting out of hand i think it will be much better when all that is redone because i like the way its heading ok thanks alot J!MMY8806 16:41, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
  • The Premier was a name given to the ship that was destroyed by the lance of energy so that a player wasn't killed. Originally it was called a carrier, but I tried to change it to one of the unknown destroyers.--Rot 17:33, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey. Can we finally begin roleplay again? My fingers are itching and I was wondering what else we should do to restore the roleplay to a point where we can finally begin again. Awesome. CaptainAdamGraves

I think all we're waiting on is a list of ground operations and that role call on SPARTAN-091's Talk page.--Rot 05:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

OK guys... the ship Graves is the captain of is called THE Hesperus... Not Hesperus. It's supposed to be a reference to a famous poem... =__= 69.124.63.66 01:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

When exactly does this take place? One of the intros mentioned a non-John Spartan fighting the Flood, suggesting after Halo 2? --Dragonclaws 21:44, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

I intended for it to be before 117 found Alpha Halo, as in my official intro. Dunno. Whaddya guys like? b/c, if it was after Alpha Halo, the covvies would send 100s of warships to Installation 03, and the UNSC would be quashed. Cheer,s -49 Proximal Secant [RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg] 21:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Yea, Adrian has fought the flood on the Forerunner installation they had just vacated. This story should take place just after the Fall of Reach, as In Amber Clad escaped, but within the two weeks where John and Cortana along with the marines of In Amber Clad fought on Alpha Halo. That would be interesting, and seemingly fit into the workings of how Bungie operates in their stories, everything seeming to fit perfectly into place. Then, after the conclusion to this, if the humans are victorious, it would segway directly into the Second Battle for Earth. I agree with RR on this. The exact date should be somewhere around August 30, 2552. That is the day that Reach fell, which would fit in perfectly. - User:CaptainAdamGraves

First, I would like to point out several things that just slightly irked me. First, Spartan-387, I think you should choose a number between 1 and 150 that is not already occupied for your character as to not contradict with the Universe we are attempting to role play in, and second Malak, I think you should be realistic in general. A Spartan-II would not be promoted to Admiral, and would not have the number 432. I think there should be a limit of three Spartan-IIs in total (cough...Gray Team...cough), they should all be stationed on one ship, and their numbers should adhere to the Universe rather than contradict it. Next, why is a Parabola-class Freighter outfitted for battle? The Marines are doable, maybe even the aerial complement, but the MAC is stretching it and the Archer pods are a over the line for a normally unarmed supply ship, especially 26 pods, noting one pod generally contains 30 missiles (that's 780 missiles!). Maybe your ships can carry ammunition and repair supplies, but it shouldn't be able to hold its own against a Covenant ship, especially when it has an escort of 20 frigates, 10 destroyers, 2 carriers, and a Marathon-class cruiser. There would be no need to reoutfit the ship. Basically, what I am trying to say is, are we keeping this factual, as in avoiding contradicting the Halo universe we know about already, or are we just having fun and messing around?--Rot 23:18, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Maybe the ships lost contact with the covenant fleet (FTL communication disabled, but radio comm still functioning) and the slipspace generators failed due to strain or battle damage after the jump. That might explain the covenant's reaction to finding 04. What do you think? Haloman333 23:42, 14 December 2006 (UTC) *Also, even a flagship and 4 frigates would not be able to stand the might of 20 human frigates, 10 destroyers, and 2 carries

  • Referencing your questions about The Hesperus, it was outfitted for combat for the last mission, a shipment between Carion IV to Reach. The Mac Cannon is outboard, meaning it is on the outside of the ship instead of inside. This makes for less protection of the cannon itself, easily able for a covenant ship to lance through it with a plasma turret, but offers a new offensive capability. This is a true stretch of fan-fiction, but since this is a roleplay I was thinking we could use non-canon materials. If we can't, I could easily redo my characters. But this is piggy-backing off of my fan-fiction story. The Hesperus, as you can plainly see, is not being escorted by the UNSC ships, rather is finishing a series of Cole Protocol slipspace jumps, running from something. All of these armaments, including the MAC-Cannon and the Archer Missile Pods, are removable and were fitted on only to be taken off. The ship wasn't meant to actually be in combat, only to have these weapons as a precautionary procedure by ONI to keep the cargo in one piece. The cargo, of course, was the new 'Mark VI Mjolnir Armor Prototype'. Since in Halo 2, the armor was already made for combat, and the testing had been underway, it had been sent to reach to be tested by the actual Spartans. I hope no one thinks this too over the top, but if you do object, tell me and I'll scrap my ideas and go to something more canon/less original. User:CaptainAdamGraves

Also, shouldn't I be writing the Queta parts? I wouldn't think a Sangheili Fleet Master would be that vicious to his own Sangheili warriors. The trait more suits the Jiralhanae or the High Prophets. I could see him killing his Unggoy, as they're basically slaves, but to simply murder one of his own kind on a whim sounds like an act of insanity that will inspire mutiny. --Dragonclaws 00:20, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Captain Adam Graves, I had yet to read your piece and better understand the situation. However, I would reconsider the Archer pods, as those would be hard to outwardly attatch, as they can be deep (30 missiles deep to be precise), but the cannon and other crew I can see as only stretching it a bit, nothing bad. Also, I admit it does strike me odd that Queta was so rash with his underlings. At first, I thought the Major was either attacked from behind by someone else or a result of the problem he was speaking about caused a small explosion above his terminal, and the sword was a metaphor for the concentrated plasma that came through the rupture and blew his head apart. Perhaps leave Quete to Dragonclaws...lol--Rot 00:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Okay. This is getting out-of-hand. All members that join uninvited will be promptly rejected. Instead, do message me and ask for an invitation. And Dragonclaws, Queta is now up to you, I was just setting the stage. My sincere apologies on my behalf. And in addition, I fail to see Queta as acting irrationally for his murder. THe HOly Ring is an object of such religious meaning that it is something interwoven into the fundamental threads of their religion, integrated into their hearts and souls, what they would die for. And for an error of such immensity, the lack of stealthiness of their foray from Slipspace into the system, a violation of combat protocol over the holiest object in the whole galaxy for the covvies, I think that a death is appropriate. Just a thought, chaps. Cheers, -49 Proximal Secant [RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg] 04:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Just a note, I made a few minor changes to the second freighter story. I changed Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Junior Grade because Second Lieutenant is a Marine rank. Sometimes Lieutenants are called Full or First Lieutenants in the Navy, but Junior Grades are always Junior Grades.--Rot 22:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Thank you for that. I was actually just taking a guess, since I'm not too all familiar with the ranking systems. Feel free to correct me where it is necessary, I have no problem with editing, since I have the original copies. This is all so much fun, thanks for creating it. User:CaptainAdamGraves

Here's a question for UNSC to ponder while I blow them to smitherines is the "Cole" protocol even active any more? they havent mentioned it in any of the new Halo books and I was just wondering as the covenant have found earth just someting to ponder. Sanghelli 14:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Dunno. But it'd still assume the Cole Protocol is in action. Later guys. Cheers, -49 Proximal Secant [RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg] 17:43, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
First, as this is before Halo CE, Cole Protocol is still active. Second, Sangheili and Darth Nexes, I advice you choose more fitting Elite names, namely, ones that have ' prior to the last name and ee at the end of the last name. Third, what was I going to say...oh yes, Gray Team would be all together, or else they wouldn't be called Gray Team, would they? Unless they got seperated on their mission. Also, note that Gray Team is most likely a three-man team, as is implies in Halo: The Fall of Reach. Finally, I'll get around to writing my next pieces soon. I've been working on my fanfic (up to chapter 4 now), so I've been a tad busy. Expect them up somtime between today and tomorrow.--Rot 19:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
I supposed Gray Team was more of a designation than a mission group, for Spartans on missions where they wouldn't be able to be brought back because it would compromise those missions. Because, say, if they were in a singular team, then they would have been able to be brough back to Reach in time to partake in the final Spartan operation, the capture of the Prophet leader. Plus, the term 'Gray' is extremely ominous to the fact that they are seperated from the main Spartan Group. Think about that, normally the teams are referred to as Red, Green, Blue... But Gray? It seems to express a sort of distance from normal ops. But truly, no-one can actually say for certain anything about Gray team, for it hasn't been elaborated enough. But in the case of speculation, and for the sake of our roleplay, what shall we decide that Gray Team is? A designation for three Spartans on long-term missions, or one singular group on a mission? User:CaptainAdamGraves

Really, when you think about it, whether they were seperate or together, if they were far enough out there they wouldn't have been time to get them to Reach. Remember that slipspace can take days to move throw at some distances. But I'm no expert, so I have no idea. I'll let you guys decide whether we do a singular group or three seperate Spartans.--Rot 00:13, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and by the tway, Graves, the Hesperus is hailed by the Erwin Rommel, not the Anasazi.

It's up to you, Cap. I can go either way... SPARTAN-091 UNSC HelmetComm||Juliet

  • Well, for my plot purposes only, let's just say that Jared knew of Adrian and the other member of Gray Team since he was deployed later on. As long as that works with you pre-standing fan fiction. If Jared became a member of Gray team after 2534, then Adrian would have been informed of Jared, the other way around. So what I'm saying is that Adrian was assigned to a seperate mission than Jared, but they were classified under the same team because their missions were similiar in nature? Only if that works for your character though.
I will go back and correct that. For some reason I thought it was the Anasazi. But you can change your posts to correlate with mine after I change Anasazi to Erwin Rommell. Hailing a ship and then not making contact is kind of strange, even in battle situations. xD--User:CaptainAdamGraves
  • Technically, my latest story has a two minute lay over period from when the Rommel hails, and I am trying to keep my stories to a single MS Word page...but I'll try and get it in there. lol. There, I fixed it. Now there is an explenation for the lack of a response. Something is disrupting communication between the Hesperus and the Rommel. I'll think of what that something is later.--Rot 05:39, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps 49 Proximal Secant is playing around with those prehistorically antitechnical communications. =D Cheers, -49 Proximal Secant [RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg] 15:07, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello all I finaly posted my first short story about my character, If anyone has any objections or ideas for me just let me know. Hinte' Warymee Sanghelli 16:04, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Are we just going to keep this Spartan II with the designation number much higher than anything realistic. Maybe I could see one of Ackerson's Spartan III's being designated with such a high number, but not a Spartan II. For me, its really throwing off the realism of this roleplay as a semi-canon piece. For the most part, I think it is one of the best collaborations I have seen thus far. User:CaptainAdamGraves

It irks me, but at least there isn't an Admiral-432 anymore. I would like to see those controlling Spartan-IIs to choose better numbers (between 1 and 150 but avoiding numbers already in use here and in the novels: 014, 048 (you'll see), 054, 091, 008, 029, 030, 034, 043, 044, 051, 058, 059, 062, 084, 087, 093, 109, 117)--Rot 04:33, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. It has been getting on my nerves, but I had figured that if no one else had thought it that big of a deal, then I would keep my opinions to myself and ignore it. But, since it seems that others have expressed their dislike towards this unreasonably high number, I thought I would post my opinion. But hey, that's just my two cents. Lekrel 05:16, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

By the way, Rot , could you post some sort of response to the Hesperus from the Erwin Rommel so I could post my next story? Thanks, User:CaptainAdamGraves

Okay, guys. There are how many Spartans in a "Team"? Three or Four? And exactly HOW MANY AIs DOES A SHIP NEED??

I can understand the backup, "Will", but can Omega Group (Sarah, etc.) be transferred to another ship? (No offense intended to any of you guys) And remember the old addage, "Too many Spartans spoil the RP!" -432, ca you perhaps be an ODST C.O.? That's my two cents. SPARTAN-091 UNSC HelmetComm||Juliet 23:18, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree that we may have too many Spartans. Personally, I can understand between 3 and 5 max, and with reasonable numbers between 1 and 150. As for the ship, the AI on the Winston Churchill are mainly Spartan AI and will be leaving the ship shortly to aid on the ground. You would have learned that from UNSC AI's post. As for a response...I'm just so darned lazy...it'll be up before sixteenhundred hours on the 21 (my time, -7 GMT)--Rot 04:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Just a heads up, I changed the Premier to a destroyer in two stories, because we only have two carriers and both are being played, while we have around 10 destroyers (5 KIA, now 6) of which 2 are being played. I say we let the player decide when they die.--Rot 19:51, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Also, I just want to remind everyone, there are only four Covenant frigates, and we have destroyed 3 thus far. The last is the one that is actually being played (by Haloman333), the Ageless Defender, I believe. I think it is just about time that the Covenant received reinforcements.--Rot 21:45, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Shortswords are Atmospheric bombers, they are not capable of operating in space confrontations. Just pointing that out. WILL

Ok, I am going to start editing the story entries so they agree with eachother. I have already turned the destroyer Premier into the carrier Fimbulwinter. Next, I am going to edit the stories that say ships turn to engage the Erwin Rommel (because there are three frigates left, two are groundside, and one is heading ground side, the other frigate is a down as far as I can recollect and the Diving Wrath is going to crash land on the ring).--Rot 17:57, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I think I got space down.

i was wondering about he RP, As the covenant would want the ring at all costs would they not send for Rienforcements, therefore the UNSC would need more if you like or dont like the idea or agree with it could you please tell me/ J!MMY8806 12:44, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

You may or may not have noticed the new Status section above Roleplaying. From now on, you edit your own status. There are four categories: Role, Location, Status, and Other. Role is the name and rank of the character, location is self explanatory, status is usually active, and is always short (like one to three words), and other is any position (like captain of so and so ship or platoon sergeant of so and so platoon) they might hold.--Rot 23:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Who won the RP? Did anyone win at all? --Malak 21:01, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
