Samuel is Oriana's former teammate from Red Team and Team Osage; he became of the more respected non-commissioned officers that Oriana served with during her time as a SPARTAN. Samuel made a name for himself within Red Team as the only SPARTAN who used SPI and came from the Headhunters. Oriana and Samuel connected on the fact that SPARTANs were never invincible, and losing fellow soldiers brought a burden on the person in the leadership position. Throughout the remaining years of the Human-Covenant War, Samuel survived while the rest of the NCT died, making him the only survivor of the team aside from herself.

Throughout the Post-Covenant War crisis, Oriana knew extremely little about Samuel's activities once she returned to active duty. She knew he had become an operative for the Beta-5 Division, but unsure of what happened to him in the four years she spent outside of active duty. The two reunited in 2557, where Oriana took command of Team Osage and offered Samuel a position as an enlisted team leader. Once he accepted the job, Samuel and Oriana deployed together under a new name.

As the Created Crisis continued to grow across the Inner Colonies, Oriana and Samuel worked together to progress missions for the UNSC to conduct in their system. During a Flood Outbreak, Oriana became combat ineffective due to the images and sounds she sensed. Luckily, Oriana did not witness the transformation of her biological sister becoming a Flood parasite. Samuel quickly killed the enemy to prevent Oriana from never seeing them but only hearing about the news. By the end of the Created Crisis, Oriana noted that Samuel was stronger than her and left the SPARTAN ranks for good.

As Samuel progressed through his career, he kept in spotty contact with Oriana to ensure her that Team Osage was doing along with his transitions as a SPARTAN. She admitted to him during a visit that her biggest regret was ever to become a SPARTAN Officer for the UNSC, one that he sympathized with given her struggle for being an effective officer given the position she found herself in without much guidance. The two continue to maintain a form of relationship despite Samuel's utter devotion to the UNSC and the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Following the end of the Human-Covenant War, Colton learned about Oriana and her struggle with mental health. Since Colton knew Clayton very well, the two began to work with Oriana on bettering herself. Colton had a dislike against SPARTANs that were like Oriana due to her not being in the position to lead. While Colton worked on getting Oriana's head squared away, he also worked on teaching her how to be a smart combat leader. By 2556, Colton noted that Oriana had changed drastically since they began working together and encouraged her to continue building on her progress.

By 2557, Colton had sided with Clayton on advising Oriana not to return back to active duty. Colton told Oriana to avoid the Office of Naval Intelligence and join Spartan Operations. Once hearing that Oriana joined the Beta-5 Division, Colton was frustrated with Oriana's decision to deploy with ONI. Throughout Oriana's deployments, Colton received messages from her about the lessons she learned from him in their meetings. During the Created Crisis, Colton learned of Oriana going dark by Clayton and waited for her to resurface by the end of the crisis.

Following the end of the Created Crisis, Colton met with Oriana and saw she fell right back down into the hole he dug her out of not too long ago. Oriana accepted the fact she made a mistake going back into the military, and worked with Colton on bettering herself again. Oriana ultimately joined Colton's organization and began to work alongside him on helping SPARTANs and other SOF personnel in their transition from military to civilian lifestyle. The two have considered each other good friends despite their difference during the Human-Covenant War.

The sight of seeing her teammate transformed into a Flood parasite set off a series of issues that rendered her combat ineffective for a given time.

Following the end of the Created Crisis, Oriana handed command over to Samuel, citing she was no longer capable of going further. Since Oriana's departure from Team Osage, she noticed that the members often visited her in-between rotations to see how things had shaken out in her civilian life. Many feel Oriana made the right decision to leave but struggled with her opinions of SPARTANs. In the end, Team Osage is glad to see their former commanding officer alive and well.

―Samuel-B256 on Oriana following the Created Crisis.

Oriana-A058 is a retired SPARTAN Officer for the UNSC Navy and Office of Naval Intelligence. She was conscripted into the SPARTAN-III program where she was apart of Alpha Company from 2531 to 2537. Labeled a Cat-2 candidate, Oriana was reassigned to a non-company team known as Red Team.

Serving as the Troop Commander of Red Team for the remainder of the Human-Covenant War, Oriana led her team through numerous combat operations and missions that marked her as an excellent officer. Serving within the Unified Special Warfare Command, Oriana was known for being a leader that was willing to undertake any mission. By the end of the Human-Covenant War, Oriana went into the Spartan Reserves.

With the SPARTAN Reserves from 2553 to 2557, Oriana battled with Post-Traumatic Stress and many other mental health issues. She married Clayton Frommenwiler after the years of being together. After spending four years in the Reserves and getting squared away, Oriana elected to return to active duty as a Special Warfare Officer for the Office of Naval Intelligence. Creating her own team in 2557, Oriana took command of Team Osage.

As the Troop Leader for Team Osage, Oriana worked with the Asymmetrical Action Group within the Beta-5 Division. Participating in numerous missions through the Post-Covenant War conflicts, Oriana distinguished herself as a veteran officer. Throughout the Created Crisis, Oriana to commanded Team Osage against the Created and its allies.

Following the end of the Created Crisis, Oriana left the UNSC Armed Forces with an honorable discharge. Oriana moved to Sundown where she resided close to Colton Bryson and began working within his foundation. Going through intense therapy and psychological tests, Oriana worked on transforming herself from a SPARTAN veteran to a civilian who planned to spend the rest of her life helping other SPARTANs.

Biography

Early Life

Oriana-A058 Homeworld
Homeworld of Oriana, Eridanus II.

Born on November 19th, 2526, Oriana was abandoned by her biological parents on Eridanus II. Kept at an orphanage, Oriana became an attraction for parents who wanted to adopt. A week later, Erin and Claire Osterberg adopted Oriana Lena Osterberg and took her home to Ny Alta. Erin Osterberg worked as an Eriandus Smokejumper while Claire found her line of work in accounting. Growing up in Ny Alta, Oriana envied Erin for being someone fearless and jumping out of a dropship to fight fires. Being an outdoors family, the Osterbergs spent their time camping, hiking, kayaking, climbing, and, sightseeing across the planet. Even at a young age, Oriana envied the nature that she surrounded herself with daily.

In 2527, Oriana met her younger sister, who was adopted as she was. Daphine Yvette Osterberg was only a few months old, and Oriana was taught to protect her at all costs. Oriana slowly saw Daphne looking up to her on things to do, and she helped her younger sister with tasks. While Oriana did play pranks on her sister, she was the only one who did. There were numerous incidents where Oriana had to be separated from other children due to her protective nature. Daphne continued to envy her sister even though she continued to get picked on.

The Covenant Military invading Eridanus II in 2531.

By 2531, the threat of a Covenant invasion was hindered to the public to prevent mass panic. But the reality struck hard when the Covenant invaded and began their assault on Eriandus II. Oriana and Daphne were separated from their parents when the invasion happened, and both evacuated safely. However, Oriana and Daphne were listed as orphans when they were transferred over to Miridem for safety after the Battle of Eridanus II. Oriana and her sister resided inside of an orphanage, thinking their parents were dead while their parents were grieving the loss of their two children.

Things turned worse when Daphne was adopted, but not Oriana. Splitting the family apart, Oriana was forced to stay on Miridem while her sister traveled to Reach with her new family. Later, Daphne was found by her original adopted parents, and they won a custody battle to have their daughter back. Oriana remained the unknown factor and was still stuck on Miridem hoping to join her family or get out of the orphanage. Later that week, an Office of Naval Intelligence team showed up to recruit for a group that was hoping to bring orphans on a unique adventure.

Recruited by the Office of Naval Intelligence, Oriana was taken away, and her records indicated that she died of a chronic illness. Her parents and sister never learned what happened to Oriana until later. On a Prowler, Oriana was transported to the UNSC Agincourt where she then was moved to Onyx for the next step of her unique adventure that the ONI team told her about at the orphanage.

SPARTAN-III Training

Initial Training

Oriana was one of nearly 490 SPARTAN trainees, and there were going to be many trainees that were not going to make it past SPARTAN Indoctrination Course. Severe physical and mental activities were pushed onto the SPARTAN trainees to see who were capable of being a SPARTAN for Alpha Company. In 2532, training for the SPARTAN-III program kicked off, and Oriana was right in the middle of everything happening to the various trainees around her. Once Oriana passed the Indoctrination Course, she moved onto Assessment and Selection, where she was determined if she was capable of becoming a SPARTAN.

"490 started out, or something along those lines. There were a lot, then about 100 left. They weren't good enough, then another 90. They were weeding out the ones who couldn't be taught. I made sure I was teachable."
―Oriana-A058 on passing through her initial training.

Passing Assessment and Selection, Oriana went on to academic classes where she was given courses over a variety of subjects as well as military tactics. Identified as a potential team leader early on, Oriana was placed into classes that enhanced her ability to become a better leader within her team. Excelling in science and history, Oriana enjoyed the lessons about how war officers used their gut and gambling tactics to determine the fate of a battle. She remained in academic classes till her graduation in 2536, where Oriana became fell into the average range of her trainee pool.

Along with academic classes, Oriana began her training, where she learned how to be an assaulter. Originally, Oriana was meant to become a reconnaissance troop assaulter but quickly transferred to a direct action troop assaulter. Oriana enjoyed being on the frontlines with her peers as well as drafting up plans to beat out her opponent. Becoming a direct action team leader assaulter, Oriana was one of the many leaders that were prepared to lead fellow SPARTANs into combat in the future. Graduating from Individual Training in the early months of 2536, Oriana also was marked for being an average SPARTAN.

Company Training

"Alpha Squadron, the command team is Vulture and headed by Oriana-A058. She has had her fair share of leadership opportunities and excelled in just about all of them. Think she can become one of those?"
―Springs Eternal referencing the Cat-2 designation to Lieutenant Commander. Kurt Ambrose.

Undergoing Company training in 2532, Oriana was assigned to command Team Vulture which held three other SPARTAN-III, trainees. Oriana acted as the team leader through the various team exercises they were forced to go through. Team Vulture became a rare group due to their ability to perform exceptionally as a unit. By 2533, Team Vulture began to produce some of the top results in all of Alpha Company despite being marked originally as a team that was not going even to crack the top ten teams. Oriana was able to help produce results by working closely with each member of her team, proving that she was an excellent leader in many scenarios.

Due to Team Vulture's ability to perform in the field, Oriana was the first team placed into Alpha Squadron by 2534. With Alpha Squadron, Oriana met a variety of assault, reconnaissance, sniper and, support teams she was going to operate alongside shortly. Oriana and Alpha Squadron consisted of roughly 40 SPARTAN-IIIs and competed with the seven other Squadrons. During Squadron training, Oriana was quickly elected to become the Squadron leader who pushed Team Vulture into the command squadron team. Leading the assaulter teams, Oriana was able to showcase her ability to adapt and improvise to the many situations thrown at both her unit and squadron.

"If you want to do better Oriana, you'll have to beat out Carter-A259 of Beta Squadron! We do not accept second place here!"
―A SPARTAN Instructor in 2536.

During Company Training, Oriana and Alpha Squadron came in second place to Carter-A259's Beta Squadron in many exercises. Throughout the rest of 2534 and to 2536, Oriana and Team Vulture continued to prepare for combat deployments. Despite being the second-best, Oriana refused to settle for her position and continued to battle Carter-A259 for being the best Squadron in Alpha Company. Along with Company Training, each squadron was deployed to conduct real-world wartime insertions. At the end of 2536, Oriana and her team graduated from Alpha Company training. Quickly put on alert status, it wasn't long till Oriana got her first operation.

Augmentations

Once securing her spot as a SPARTAN, Oriana was brought aboard the UNSC Hopeful where she was to undergo Project CHRYSANTHEMUM. Due to the success rate of the medical procedure, Oriana prepared herself for the invasive operation that was going to transform her from a healthy person and into a SPARTAN.

The following drugs were given to Oriana:

  • 8942-LQ99 - "carbide ceramic ossification catalyst" drug.
  • 88005-MX77 - "fibroid muscular protein complex" drug.
  • 88947-OP24 - "retina-inversion stabilizer" drug.
  • 87556-UD61 - "improved colloidal neural disunification solution" drug.

Human-Covenant War

S-III Alpha Company Operations

Colonel James Ackerson was eager to deploy his Alpha Company once seeing they were ready for combat deployments. His desire to deploy them against the Covenant was quickly put down by Margaret Parangosky due to many unknown factors. In a mission briefing, Oriana learned about an Insurrection Uprising on Mamore that Alpha Company was dispatched to handle the enemy forces.

Following the putdown of the Insurrectionists on Mamore, Oriana and Team Vulture deployed to the Bonanza Asteroid Belt to conduct missions against the Covenant and their forces deployed across the area. Oriana became noted as a fearless tactician who engaged the Covenant in many tactics she was taught. Kurt took note of Oriana's ability to be a brilliant leader and soon worked on putting together a program that put her in a position to lead the best of Alpha Company. Following Oriana's promotion to Petty Officer Second Class, she deployed to support the defense of the Far gone colony platforms. Success came for Alpha Company again during their missions against the Covenant.

In the Battle of New Constantinople, Oriana led a ground force that pushed the Covenant back. Oriana led numerous missions to ensure the Covenant failed in their attempts to try and control the colony, which led to the demise of the Covenant Army. Her efforts to lead a large group of SPARTAN-IIIs and pull off hard missions marked her as one of the many SPARTANs that were bound to be pulled by Lieutenant Commander Ambrose for a new mission. Returning from New Constantinople, Oriana felt that Team Vulture had risen to become the best team within Alpha Company. Before her next operation with Alpha Company, Oriana got pulled aside and reassigned.

Oriana along with Draven-A284 of Team Vulture reassigned to a non-company team named Red Team. Oriana was promoted to Ensign while Draven, Emilia-A049 and, Omar-A442 joined her as well to create the four SPARTAN team. As a non-company team, Oriana transferred out of Alpha Company where she began to take orders for the Naval Special Weapons Applications Unit. Learning that she was no longer going to deploy along the rest of Alpha Squadron and Team Vulture, Oriana was frustrated that she was selected to be taken away from the troops she grew up to train and fight with throughout her career as a SPARTAN.

Operation: KINETIC INQUISITION

Joining Operation: KINETIC INQUISITION in 2539, Oriana began to conduct operations against the Covenant who were still invading Outer Colonies. Oriana commanded of a NAVSPECWEP Task Force called Wolverine which housed half of a Space Assault Company and a Prowler Squadron. She was working alongside another Cat-2 officer who was in charge of Task Force Avenger and the other half of the Space Assault Company. Launching in late 2539, Oriana was going to lead a covert ground campaign against the Covenant to stall their efforts on the ground. Keeping the Covenant in the Outer Colonies allowed the UNSC to reinforce its defenses within the Inner Colonies.

Arriving over Vernet, Oriana deployed onto the ground with Task Force Wolverine where she coordinated attacks against supply vehicles as well as seek out a well known Sangheili General operating in her sector. As her teams continued to launch ambushes against the enemies, Oriana set up Emilia with a shot on the Sangheili General that she did not miss. Weakening the Covenant's ground morale, Task Force Wolverine was quickly pulled off the planet after the Covenant Navy began to glass essential areas.

Vernet proved to be a productive area for Task Force Wolverine, which quickly deployed to Sansar next. Moving to secure UEG and CAA leaders, Oriana showcased her ability to perform exceptionally in close-quarters combat as well as keeping high-value personnel protected. Once the leaders were secure, Oriana continued to assist with diverting Covenant forces across the area to prevent them from massing a strong force against the remaining UNSC ground forces. Delaying the Covenant's ability to strike effectively, allowed the UNSC to conduct evacuations with less stress. As Oriana and Task Force Wolverine pulled off Sansar, it delayed the Covenant yet again.

Arriving over Ruthersburg, Oriana watched as the Covenant spent a small amount of time going after orbital defenses then immediately to glassing the planet. Oriana noticed that the glassing had stopped and a large amount of Covenant ground forces were moving to a specific location. Coordinating with Task Force Avenger, they were able to lock in on a Forerunner artifact. Task Force Avenger eliminated the Minor Minister while Task Force Wolverine swooped in to steal it. Enforcing the Cole Protocol, Oriana worked on securing the unknown artifact before bringing it aboard a UNSC Prowler. Escaping Ruthersberg in early 2540, Operation: KINETIC INQUISITION came to an end.

The short campaign against the Covenant proved to be effective by holding back the Covenant Navy as well as diverting forces from the Inner Colonies back to the Outer Colonies. Oriana felt it was worth it in the long run, which allowed the UNSC the chance to defend better against the Covenant in the coming years. However, the losses that the Space Assault Battalion told Oriana a different story. But, Oriana was transferred out of the UNSC Navy's command and to the UNSC Marine Corps, where she began to operate with the Unified Special Warfare Command.

Inner Colonies Theater

The Covenant continued to ravage the Inner Colonies, and Red Team began to support Unified Special Warfare Command (USWC) operations on occupied planets. Working out of a UNSC Army group called SPECWAR Group Three, Oriana and Red Team began deploying to colonies to assist and conduct operations to push back Covenant ground forces. Red Team often came in as a force multiplier to occupied planets once being activated and deployed to the system where the Covenant had been spotted.

"Things got worse before they got better. The UNSC put up a good fight against the Covenant on the ground, but space proved to be our weakness. We weren't able to secure planets due to our inability to handle systems."
―Oriana's thoughts on the Inner Colonies Theater.

Halfway through the decade of the 2540s, Oriana and Red Team deployed to Alluvion in support of the Battle for Alluvion. Throughout 2542, Oriana launched numerous missions to stall the Covenant and their ability to wipe out the planet. A Covenant fleet named the Fleet of Particular Justice brought a quick end to the battle and forced Oriana to flee alongside Red Team. Deploying to New Amman a year later, Oriana and Red Team met the same fate as Alluvion. The planet and its system fell to the Covenant after a four-month-long battle. Oriana became known as a SPARTAN for her airborne missions throughout various missions on New Amman. Oriana and Red Team saw action on Miridem during the Battle of Miridem in 2544, making it the third major battle that Oriana participated in since the start of the 40s in the 26th century. Miridem fell to the Covenant weeks after the first contact, and Red Team retreated following their inability to hold the planet.

Throughout the remaining years of the Inner Colonies Theater, Oriana and her team continued their deployments to major battles as well as other tasks in-between. In 2545, Oriana deployed to Actium to support the Battle of Actium alongside Army units. The planet fell to the Covenant but forced the Covenant to sustain heavy casualties before glassing the planet. By 2546, Oriana had returned from the Battle of New Llanelli, which resulted in the colony being glassed. Frustrations within Red Team mounted as losses continued to mount throughout the decade. Throughout 2547, Oriana deployed to Skopje to support the Battle of Skopje. While the battle ultimately fell into the hands of the Covenant, Red Team did not stick around since they reassigned to another mission.

"Beta Company completed training in 2545, Red Team got four new members. It was hard to explain to the new members about the Human-Covenant War and the issues we were currently facing."
―Oriana on the addition of fresh troops to Red Team.

Throughout the Inner Colonies Theater, Oriana noticed that the Covenant were capable of holding the UNSC back with their superior Navy. The ground war proved to be a fair fight where Oriana felt she had the upper hand against the Covenant. Leadership within the USWC continued to deploy Oriana to hazardous missions knowing she was able to come out with successful results more often than a non-augmented team. Red Team distinguished themselves as a capable group who attacked the Covenant and refused to back down from overwhelming odds.

RL-54 Incident

The UNSC began to work on diverting a single ship away to ambush and board with UNSC troops. Oriana learned that her team was going to secure the engine and weapon systems room with Red Team while another NCT was going to take care of the bridge. As the ship came into view for Oriana, she prepared Red Team for their tasks aboard the ship. As forces began to board the Covenant ship, Oriana and Red Team were broken up into two teams where Oriana assaulted the engine room while Draven assaulted the weapon systems room.

Aboard the ship, Oriana and Red Team Alpha engaged forces across their area of focus in close-quarters combat. Oriana used the element of surprise and speed to gain the upper hand on the enemies that were nearly the hundreds once they were found aboard. Using everything to their disposal, Oriana worked with those alongside her to secure the engine room until a UNSC AI was able to vent the ship. Securing the ship and the forces aboard, Oriana and Red Team linked back up to assist with clearing out the remaining of the ship.

As Oriana cleaned up the rest of the ship, she spent her time keeping areas in check as the UNSC Navy and Office of Naval Intelligence moved the ship around Covenant controlled space. Once getting caught, Oriana and Red Team held off the initial boarding teams which allowed for Navy personnel and other assets to vacate specific sectors. A SPARTAN-II Class-II squad linked up with Red Team in the hangar where they were able to keep a variety of enemy forces from destroying their Prowler and means of escape. Once Oriana boarded the Prowler with Red Team, they vacated the Covenant ship and returned to UNSC controlled space not long after.

Following the success of the RL-54 Incident, Oriana was transferred back to the Unified Special Warfare Command where she began to participate in operations for the UNSC Air Force. The Covenant soon attacked the Parisian Front, Oriana and Red Team were deployed to assist with the defense of the Parisian Front colonies that were quickly under attack by the Covenant.

Parisian Front Theater

The Parisian Front became one of the final frontlines that the UNSC had to defend before the Covenant broke through towards major population centers. Oriana worked alongside the UNSC Air Force and a variety of USWC Joint Task Forces to try and prevent the Covenant from pushing further. Red Team became one of the few NCT detachments that deployed to enable Air Force special tactic operators, allowing Oriana to expand her ability to handle a variety of missions within the USWC. By 2547, Oriana and her team deployed to Cyrus VII, where they assisted with the defense of the colony.

"The Parisian Front continued to look like the Inner Colonies Front, things just never stuck in terms of strategy. We had a hard time securing our positions and holding the lines. Victories became rare, and the UNSC struggled."
―Oriana about her thoughts on the Parisian Front.

The Battle for Cyrus VII proved to be a long engagement for the UNSC, where they were able to hold the Covenant back. Oriana and many UNSC forces battled with the Covenant for a year before the Covenant taking another planet. Throughout the many battles, Oriana distinguished herself as a respected officer who refused to quit. Rotating to the New Beijing Campaign, Oriana continued to battle against the Covenant throughout 2548 and 2549. The toll of constant combat and the deaths of many service members began to put a toll on Oriana.

By the time New Beijing fell to the Covenant, Oriana had deployed to assist the Eden Asteroid Belt Offensive. During the month, Oriana and Red Team deployed relentlessly against the Covenant to slow down and stall activities along the Parisian Front. The Eden Asteroid Belt Offensive proved effective for a time till the Siege of Paris IV, which forced the UNSC to redeploy the assets to the colony. Oriana lost Raegen-B142 and Carson-B260 during the siege, marking it the first time she lost SPARTANs under her command. Following the fall of Paris IV, the Parisian Front collapsed soon after, and the UNSC retreated.

"All of us had never seen one of our friends die. We've heard about PROMETHEUS and TORPEDO, but those are only stories where we never saw the bodies of our fallen friends."
―Oriana on the reality of SPARTANs dying.

Oriana returned from the frontlines following two years of relentless combat, where she met the replacements of her troops. A former Headhunter named Samuel-B256 joined her as an intelligence specialist while Riley-B192 filled the role of Raegen-B142. Oriana noted her SPARTANs were harsh towards the replacement, citing that the death of their peers shifted attitudes within the team. Meeting with the senior leaders of Red Team, Oriana made sure to get the replacements in the loop to be ready for their next deployment.

After Oriana left active duty, she underwent a full psychological screening by the ONI. They noted that she was diagnosed with over two dozen mental health disorders since she broke down during the Battle for Earth. Clayton, Oriana's Operations Officer within SPECWAR Group 3, elected to look after her after he retired from the UNSC Army. Moving to a small town and away from a major population, Clayton began to work with Oriana on the mental health issues she developed. ONI offered their services and was swiftly denied by Clayton because he didn't want her to go back into service. Meeting with a psychologist at a nearby hospital who was a Human-Covenant War veteran, Oriana attended daily meetings to start her battle in the early months of 2553.

"There were some rough patches at first, I remember stopping her numerous times in attempts to commit suicide. Oriana endured 16 years of constant combat deployments; she had no breaks like the others around her. Top the fact that her entire team was almost wiped out along with the destruction of Alpha Company, being ripped from her family, and no parental support. It's no surprise she's the way she is today."
―Clayton on Oriana in 2554.

Oriana struggled to find hobbies and other things she found enjoyable in life. No matter what happened, everything around her died and she pushed people away. Clayton and her psychologist worked relentlessly with Oriana and developed means to combat the demons inside of her head. Oriana slowly warmed up to other people besides Clayton and found herself becoming someone comfortable in her skin. By the early years of 2554, Oriana and Clayton were in a relationship that became a building block for her foundation. The two married in 2556, marking it the day that Oriana officially put a foundation to build upon in her life. Through little steps, Oriana continued to build herself up as a person.

"Colton, a legend within the Rangers community, came out to see Oriana. He has been working with veterans in their transition from military to civilian life. All I know, he's going to have questions how Oriana is doing and why she is married to a nerd."
―Clayton on his old friend, Colton Bryson.

Working with Colton Bryson, a former UNSC Army Ranger Colonel, Oriana began to make strong progress that built her mental health and finding things she enjoyed. Having Clayton as a husband helped Oriana find much-needed stability. In 2557, Oriana met with an ONI officer to re-enter SPARTAN active duty. Clayton and Colton protested the decision, citing it was going to destroy her again, but Oriana wanted to make things right. Not even a year after her marriage, Oriana prepared herself for going back to active duty. Arguments between Clayton and Oriana continued to progress until he accepted there was nothing bound to change her mind. By April of 2557, Oriana began the SPARTAN Relook trial.

Personality

Oriana found herself being a dedicated and focused SPARTAN who took on tough assignments that helped her build a successful career. Early on in her SPARTAN career, Oriana strongly believed that SPARTANs were invincible, and no enemy was capable of stopping the force created. Due to the beliefs Oriana held, she often found her SPARTANs to be far superior to what the UNSC Armed Forces had to offer. The selfish nature that Oriana built made enemies and friends across the many branches she deployed alongside. However, Oriana only heard about Operation: PROMETHEUS and never saw the fate of her friends and peers that fell to the Covenant. Oriana felt she had the best SPARTANs under her command, and other NCTs were unable to compete with her team.

After the first deaths inside of Red Team, Oriana learned her SPARTANs were not invincible and that she had been lied to by drill instructors. Her resentment against the Covenant grew further as new members filled the spots of the fallen. Along with the attitude shift, Oriana began to dislike the position of being a leader. Frustration within leader channels made Oriana think hard about her desire to continue leading, but her pride to lead Red continued as the sole benefactor she continued. Problems began to arise within Oriana, where she often had vivid flashbacks to Eridanus II during the glassing along with being taken away by the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Following the end of the Human-Covenant War, Oriana had lost all but one of her team and mentally broke. She found command to be meaningless and that the SPARTANs were all but a lie to give her a chance to an early death. Rotating into the Reserves, Oriana suffered from a variety of mental health issues that she worked on with her husband and Colton Bryson. Oriana's anger towards the SPARTANs turned differently, and she wanted to serve with the SPARTANs again to help the new generations with the up-and-coming dangers the Post-Covenant War held. Her decision to rotate back into the active-duty caused conflicts within her personal life. Being with the SPARTANs, Oriana hoped to be a valuable officer to those she commanded.

Oriana's pride and ego built as a result of the success that Team Osage shared in the field. By the start of the Created Crisis, Oriana felt that Team Osage had matured exceptionally well under her command. During a rescue mission on the UNSC Twelfth Man, Oriana watched her biological sister and teammate turn into a Flood parasite. Unable to kill those she helped so much, Oriana found herself spiraling down the same path she had just gotten out of years ago. Oriana immediately regretted her decision to rejoining the SPARTANs and relieved command of Team Osage to Samuel-B256. Oriana found herself struggling with the nightmares and decisions that had come over her and didn't have the immediate support she did back home.

Returning back home from the Created Crisis, Oriana received a medical discharge and moved with her husband out to Sundown. There, Oriana worked on getting her mind back into the right position and regretting the decision that she ever became a SPARTAN. Her frustration with the issues she had only made matters worse as her life continued to struggle since breaking free of being a SPARTAN. Oriana later found her purpose helping other veterans while staying away from the UNSC Armed Forces. It took an extremely long time for Oriana to accept and live with the decisions she made as a SPARTAN, building upon her life as a means to understand the importance of decision-making in a crisis situation.

Skills and Abilities

Throughout her long career as a SPARTAN, Oriana found herself being expertise in pistol marksmanship. Throughout Alpha Company training, she was marked as the top handler of handguns. Keeping a record-fast draw time and a wide knowledge of handguns, Oriana continues to find herself being an expert following her retirement from the UNSC. Oriana prided herself in being able to handle one of the harder guns to shoot at an early age. Along with the expertise in pistol marksmanship, Oriana found herself excellent in handling a variety of carbines and designated marksmen rifles throughout her career.

Oriana always felt her leadership lacked and wasn't as strong as those around her. However, her leadership in the field led to a number of successful missions throughout the Human-Covenant War. With fifteen years of constant combat deployments, she nearly 4,000 missions under her belt with a 90% success rate. Participating in a variety of theaters and campaigns, Oriana had emerged as one of the most decorated SPARTAN-III officers that were designated, Cat-2 officers. In the Post-Covenant War conflicts, Oriana continued to perform as an excellent field officer despite the inadequate training she received throughout her officer career.

In SPARTAN Relook, Oriana mastered a variety of skills that enhanced her ability to survive outside of an MJOLNIR armored suit and survival in extreme conditions. Oriana's knowledge of SPARTAN team operations allowed her to help create a better training program for SPARTANs within Spartan Operations and the Office of Naval Intelligence. While Oriana did not spend her time in the field as much as other SPARTANs did, she continued to assist them in any way with armor testing and anything else the UNSC needed assistance with at the time.

Equipment

Image Name Description
File:Oriana-2537-SPI.png Semi-Powered Infiltration armor The Semi-Powered Infiltration armor that Oriana wore throughout her service with Alpha Company was considered a standard armor suit that was issued to many of the SPARTAN-IIIs that had graduated from Alpha Company. Considered the Mark I of the armor generation, Oriana upgraded her armor in a variety of ways that allowed her to have an edge against the enemy she was engaged with on the field. Following her reassignment, Oriana retired her SPI armor for an upgrade.
TPFPic07 MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark IV Upgrading to the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark IV, Oriana became introduced to the armor that many SPARTAN-II program soldiers were wearing throughout the Human-Covenant War. From 2537 to 2551, Oriana wore a standard Mark IV setup that allowed her to have a wide range of utilities to conduct missions with her NCT. Mark IV proved to be an upgrade from the SPI, yet lacked an energy shield. Throughout constant deployments, Oriana worked with many technicians to enhance her armor during combat situations. With the improved armor system, Oriana noted that it had saved her life more times than she counted. By 2551, Oriana had upgraded to a new armor suit that turned to be far better than her previous MJOLNIR suit.
File:Oriana-2552-Mark V.png MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark V For the remaining years of the Human-Covenant War, Oriana wore the Mark V [B] Powered Assault Armor. Upgrades to the armor included energy shielding, better technological features that assisted with commanding troops, and situational awareness. Energy shielding proved to be the best upgrade Oriana due to the chance to save more SPARTAN lives in the years to come. The armor was also picked out by her, making it the first time she was able to decide what she wanted to wear. Oriana focused on the packages that gave her an advantage in the field to win. Throughout 2552, Oriana found the suit to save her life numerous times. By the end of the Human-Covenant War, Oriana took off her suit with no intention of putting it back on again.
File:Oriana-A058-MarkVII.png MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VII Throughout the Post-Covenant War conflicts, Oriana became a test user for the Mark VII Powered Assault Armor for the Office of Naval Intelligence. Oriana continued to be a test user for the B variant of the armor, allowing her to use a suit that had been similar to her Mark V [B]. Oriana deployed with the Mark VII with Team Osage after returning to active duty. Along with being an initial test user, she also began to assist with testing to help improve Generation 3 armor that was going to be handed out to incoming SPARTAN soldiers. By the end of the Created Crisis, Oriana returned her version of the Mark VII and never wore another MJOLNIR suit following her retirement.

Relationships

Clayton Frommenwiler

Clayton Frommenwiler TPF
Oriana's husband.

Clayton Frommenwiler is Oriana's husband, only friend, and biggest supporter. Initially, Oriana met Clayton during the Human-Covenant War while he served within SPECWAR Group 3 as an Operations Officer for Red Team in 2551 and 2552. As Oriana's command suffered throughout the Battle for Earth due to the death of her team, Clayton worked with an Office of Naval Intelligence psychologist to relieve her of command before situations grew worse for the SPARTAN officer. Once Oriana got removed from command, Clayton worked with ONI officers to get her assigned to reserve duty. Once Oriana left active duty, Clayton took it upon himself to oversee the well being of Oriana.

Throughout the Post-Covenant War conflicts, Clayton worked with Oriana on getting her mental and physical health back in line. He became the shoulder to cry on while Oriana poured her heart to him while also being the one person she trusted the most since the Battle of Eridanus II. What started as a caring relationship, turned romantic, and the two fell for one another while Oriana continued to search for stability in her life. Clayton became the foundation of security when the two married in 2556, three years after she left active duty.

In 2557, Oriana felt she needed to return to her duty for being a SPARTAN, one that worried Clayton. He voiced the concern that all their work was going to get untangled due to her being thrown back into an infantry position. Oriana welcomed the worried responses from someone she trusted, yet still felt she had an obligation for being a SPARTAN. Clayton struggled with accepting that Oriana decided to work for the Beta-5 Division, citing that she was bound to go Missing in Action and never see him again. Oriana proved him wrong by seeing him in-between rotations.

Following the end of the Created Crisis, Clayton greeted Oriana to see all their work from 2552 to 2557 had been untangled. He was frustrated at her for going back into service. Clayton worked for Oriana to get a medical discharge and worked to build her mental health back up. As Oriana told Clayton about what she saw, he understood what she was feeling and supported her while she continued to rebuild her life. Not long after her medical discharge, the two welcomed a daughter into their lives and moved to Sundown where they reside and raise Daphne Frommenwiler.

Samuel-B256

Samuel-B256 2559
Samuel-B256, Oriana's second-in-command.

Team Osage

Team Osage became Oriana's team she took command following her return to active duty in 2557. Under the command of Vilda Stenbeck, Oriana recruited the personnel of her team from a Gamma Company team that operated within Spartan Operations and then Samuel-B256. Throughout the Post-Covenant War conflicts, Oriana proved herself to be an excellent team leader that conducted missions for the Beta-5 Division and Asymmetrical Action Group. Since Oriana's breakdown within Red Team, she proved herself to be an effective leader that broke all the concerns ONI officers.
