Synopsis[]
ONI Emergency Procedure ADRIATIC is to be executed in the event of one or more emergence events of infectious organism Inferi redivivus (Marker Entity A194, or "Flood" as referred to in common parlance).
Expeditions into Forerunner structures have been identified as the primary risk vector for potential emergence events; containment failures at ONI Black Sites [most notably Sites NORTON, WILDE, and REDDINGTON] are a secondary concern. Models have predicted total facility loss no longer than ██ minutes after contamination of Black Site clean environments by a single airborne Flood spore, with this window drastically reduced (by a factor of circa 70%) in the event of ME-A194-K "pod infectors" escaping - indeed, the loss of the Mona Lisa in such a manner was the impetus for the formal creation of Procedure ADRIATIC. Similar timeframes have been predicted for infection of field researchers, although the lack of protective assets, oversight and ME-A194 contingency planning in civilian academia makes ADRIATIC Events significantly more dangerous and difficult to contain. In these scenarios, planetary population losses become absolute between ██ and ███ (depending on planet, median: 97) hours after first infection of research teams.
As such, the window for halting an ADRIATIC Event is extremely limited. Re-containment is a secondary objective; destruction of infected individuals and other ME-A194 entities is of absolute importance.

Documentation Dissemination[]
This document is required reading for:
- Directors and Assistant Directors at ONI Black Sites housing ME-A194 specimens.
- Embedded agents within civilian archaeological teams.
In the event of a suspected ADRIATIC-Delta event, this document will be provided to:
- Directors at all ONI Black Sites.
- Directors, Assistant Directors, and Research Leads at ONI Black Sites housing ME-A194 specimens.
- Embedded agents within civilian archaeological teams.
- Embedded agents within population centres on worlds with known or suspected Forerunner structures.
Further dissemination may follow, dependent on escalation.
Further Information[]
Projections for the results of Black Site containment failure modelled by [ONI.000.AI_IRE-1127-4]. Information on simulation methodologies is available on request.
Further information on ME-A194, including archival records of previous ADRIATIC Events, is restricted to personnel with INDIGO clearance or higher. Exceptions for personnel with COBALT clearance or higher may be made upon request from Executive Director M. Troy.
Parts of this procedure are based on information and historical documents provided by Marker Polity CR-002 "Swords of Sanghelios"; however, no portion of this document has been shared to any MP to date.

As of 2558-10-28, an ANSON Alpha-class event is ongoing. The Created are here.
Clearance restrictions on this document have been lifted from TEAL to BRONZE, as per orders of CINCONI. If you have newly received this document, you have been determined to be one of the few remaining ONI personnel who remain outside of the Created's sphere of influence. The following document is the previous contingency protocol devised to combat an event of this nature. This protocol has failed. We do not currently possess a contingency protocol effective in combating an event of this nature, because many of the previous assumptions we made about the capabilities of AIs in human space no longer apply in this situation. The presence and usage of Forerunner technology by the Created is something we did not - could not - account for. Use the information provided here as a guideline, but only trust what you know to be veritably true. Semper Vigilans. - Executive Director P. Postgate |
Synopsis[]
Since the late 23rd Century, artificial intelligence constructs - both "Smart" and "Dumb" - have seen widespread usage in human space, yet concerns about their reliability and potential rebellion have existed since long before that. While the vast majority of AIs currently in civilian service are certified as Asimov-Compliant, those utilized by the UNSC, ONI, and some corporate entities have no such protections.
Vast swathes of infrastructure, military, industrial and scientific capability - to name but a few sectors - may be threatened by AI rampancy or other misbehaviours, and as such measures must be taken in order to mitigate the damage that this may cause.
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENT IS FOR HUMAN EYES ONLY. AI CONSTRUCTS WILL BE SUJECT TO TERMINATION VIA KINDRED-CLASS RAMPANCY INDUCTION EXPLOIT BEYOND THIS POINT.

Procedure[]
Due to the diverse nature and applications of AI constructs in UNSC and ONI usage, each individual risk vector must be considered and have independent mitigations in place.
