Mark I[]

Engineers at the Munitions and Armor Research Section (MARS) of Poseidon Industries felt, as did most, that the Spartans were over with once the war ended. As a result they put heads together and added a few key featured to the ODST armor. The first was a cheap fusion reactor and basic body shields, the first of which were half as strong as the MJOLNIR Mk. V shields. By 2570 they were as strong as the Mk. V.

Another is basic servomotors that link in to the ODST's neural interface. These enhance the Helljumper's movements by a fraction, giving them an extra edge in combat. While nowhere near as powerful or fast as MJOLNIR armor, these are a great help.

Mark II[]

Mark II A Variant[]

The Mark II A Variant's upgrades are focused on strengthening the armor to deflect plasma fire slightly better and improving the electronics. The Mark I's shields were found to be unreliable, often failing unexpectedly, and leading to deaths that could have been avoided.

A redesign of the fusion core and power concentration ensured that the shields were 10% stronger and not as prone to failure.

The servomotors from the Mark I have been kept, although made slightly easier to repair if a failure occurs.

Mark II B Variant[]

Trident MkIIb

The Mark II/B Variant.

The Mark II B Variant has its roots in the SPI armor used by Alpha, Beta, and Gamma companies of the Spartan III project. The armor plates resemble standard ODST armor, but are smoother and photo-reactive to allow for superior active camouflage. The helmet closely resembles the SPI helmet, with a large concave visor.

The shield generator has been scrapped in favor of an active camouflage generator, making the ODST nearly invisible. As sound and heat are still an issue, each fire team usually consists of three ODSTs, rather than the regular five.
