Niex-Nor was the homeworld of the Niex, or Precursors. The planet was generally cold and wet, and although inhospitable to many forms of life (including humans), it was of the perfect environment to it's natural inhabitants. The Niex had managed to save their crowned-jewel homeworld from it's fate of being destroyed in Nor, their star's, supernova, five billion years in the past. It's whereabouts are currently unknown, however, it may be assumed that the Precursor had transported it to a stable location.
What wasn't misty marshland on the inland regions of Niex-Nor, were seemingly endless shorelines or the ocean itself. The lower and upper atmosphere was always shrouded in a thick, cold mist rich in nitrogen gas. Plants usually featured a black coloration in order to attract the light of Nor, the planet's single, massive blue star. For some unknown reason, the planet's only form of non-plant life was strictly arthropodal.
