Nanotech Polymers are advance materials, formerly difficult to create and only used on advance combat armour, like that used by special forces, and on MJOLNIR, the material became much easier to produce and was consequently used on just about every piece of UNSC body armour. By sending a brief, coded, electrical current through the polymer, a current too weak to feel, it can cause individual cells to change colour. By directing a series of coded messages it can create a almost random computer generated camo pattern for a variety of environments. This allows a marine to go from any environment without requiring new uniform and armour. The material is capable of self repairing itself from damage, though the repair is often imperfect and must be repaired professionally in time. The material is often treated with RADAR/LASER absorbent paint, infra-red suppressive resins, liquid-glass composite which provides limited protection against radiation and makes the user UV invisible, as well as provide resistance to adhesives, but in itself is protective against magnetically attached ordnance, by briefly producing a electromagnetic field when changing pattern, it interrupts the magnetic field of the ordnance and causes it to simply drop off, allowing infantry to protect themselves from Plasma Grenades and vehicles to stop magnetic mines.
