Argo 'Varvin: "Young Captain Shah, you are far more calculating than I first gave you credit for. Our commander chose well in your appointment, though perhaps he does not know it"
Mohsin Shah: "I won’t betray him. But all this isn’t about him. I followed Venter all those years. I lost people, sacrificed people, did things I’m not proud of because I believed in the world on the other end of all this. I never wanted to be the one giving the orders, but if I have to be the one to steer my people in the right direction, then so be it."
―Mohsin Shah and Argo 'Varvin in the aftermath of the assault on Asphodel Meadows
Mohsin Shah was an Insurrectionist officer active during the frontier wars and the Created Crisis. A native of Mamore, Mohsin was recruited by rebel forces under the command of Redmond Venter after most of his family was killed in a UNSC air strike. Mohsin proved a capable fighter and remained with Venter's Second Vanguard forces after they were driven off Mamore. He served under Venter's command in conflict zones across the colonial frontier as the Second Vanguard assisted dozens of anti-Earth independence movements. Mohsin's service under Venter culminated in a deadly campaign on Talitsa that ended with the deaths of Venter and most of the Second Vanguard. Mohsin reluctantly placed himself and his fellow survivors under the command of Venter's former protégé and adopted son Simon-G294. Absorbed into the renegade Kru'desh Legion, Mohsin was promoted to the rank of Captain and served as the commanding officer for all human forces within the Kru'desh. Despite his misgivings about Simon's true motives, Mohsin distinguished himself during the Kru'desh Legion's campaign against the Created, most notably at the Siege of Le Havre and the Battle of Archangel's Rest. Mohsin's dreams of establishing a society free from Earth's colonial influence made him instrumental in the establishment of a joint human-Sangheili enclave on Furthest Point in the aftermath of the so-called Warring Colonies period.
