The Model 2 sidearm is the main secondary weapon of the Confederate Marine Corps.

Design

The M2 is not a ballistic weapon, but a plasma-based weapon based on the Covenant plasma pistol. After the Human-Covenant War, the designs of many Covenant weapons were evaluated by human and Covenant engineers alike to make the designs more efficient. They were successful, and by the 2600s many military firearms used plasma and directed energy.
