Copper Team was a group of Spartan-IIs under the operational command of Naval Special Warfare Command. They actively participated in several battles, including the Battle of Harvest, the Battle of Actium, and the siege of Paris IV, in addition to participating in Operation: Sidewinder, an attempt to capture the traitor Hector Nyeto.

Copper Team was formed in 2525 around two three person teams with a compliment of six members. It was lead for most of the early Human-Covenant War by Sheila-065, until the disappearance of Red Team along with the UNSC Spirit of Fire in 2531. After which several Spartan's were shuffled between teams, resulting in command being passed to August-099, who remained in command until the team was disbanded prior to the Battle of Reach, with the team never reforming due to all of its members being either incapacitated or killed during said battle.

Copper Team would be the second team to lose a Spartan in action, when Copper Six, Pearl-056 perished in an engagement with Covenant infantry during the tail-end of the Harvest Campaign in 2531. Though unlike Samuel-034, Pearl's death was due to her own overconfidence and lack of co-operation with her own team, resulting in her own death at the hands of the Elite commanding officer, Ustaf 'Nbekee. This was contrasted by the performance of Copper Five, Keiichi-047 whose assistance to Battle Group Phi was instrumental to to the successful outcome of the engagement, despite suffering from COM glitches throughout the battle.

After the conclusion of the Harvest Campaign, Copper Team's composition was reshuffled to account for the losses of Pearl, in addition to Jerome-092, Alice-130 and Douglas-042 who had gone missing along with the UNSC Spirit of Fire. Sheila was transferred to take command of Gold Team along with Maria-062,whilst Randall-037 was sent to join Green Team. They were replaced by Red Teams number two, August-099 who took command of Copper Team along with Leon-011 who to the empty position of Copper Six, whilst Gold Teams Naomi-010 and Vinh-030 were brought in as the new Copper's Three and Five respectively, with Keiichi now taking the now vacant position of Copper Four.

This composition would mostly persist until the Fall of Reach, with the only changes being Vinh's reassignment to Green Team in 2535 which brought the team down to five members permanently, followed by Will-043's move in 2544 (also to Green Team) with his replacement being Robert-025 as the new Copper Five, with the rest of the team adjusting their positions due to Will's departure. During the Fall of Reach Copper Team was folded into the amalgamated Spartan force, designated as Red Team, who were sent to the planets surface to assist in its defence.

Due to casualties sustained during operations on Reach, Copper Team was never reformed, with Keiichi having been killed on landing, whilst August, Naomi, Leon and Robert, under the sub-designation of Beta-Red, had all been badly injured. Either due to enemy action in Naomi's case, or as a result of a near point-blank MAC barrage by the UNSC Majestic as they were clearing the blast area aboard the pelican 'Iron Fist' which nearly brought down said craft.

Due to her lighter injuries Naomi was the first to recover, though not in time for the wars conclusion, was seconded to the Office of Naval Intelligence's covert operations team, Beta-Five. Whilst August, Leon and Robert would adopt the moniker of Omega Team for operations in the post-war environment.

Team Colt more formally styled as TEAM COLT and sometimes referred to simply as COLT, was a 4-man team from the Spartan III program's Alpha Company team attached to Commando Group Alpha, with its members being dubbed as Category-II's, informally known as 'Cat-II's'.

Like all Alpha Company Commando Teams, Team Colt had initially been a 3-man Team but was restructured to a 4-man team prior to their augmentations. This was due to their different mission profile, which was judged to require larger teams than the rest of the company, with additional soldiers being drawn from the failed Headhunter candidates.

Team Colt would serve in countless battles between the activation of Alpha Company in 2536 as a part of Commando Group Alpha, and continued long after the destruction of the main force of Alpha Company in 2537. Unfortunately, Team Colt was destroyed during the Battle of Manticore in 2541, when it was overrun by a Covenant army whilst serving as the rearguard for the evacuation of the remaining UNSC Forces, killing all but Colt One who was mortally wounded. However, in his final moments before he could be finished off, he was able to arm a a HAVOC grade Nuclear weapon, the detonation of which was able to stop the Covenant advance in that sector, allowing Teams Grizzly and Fox to fall back to a evacuation point and escape the planet.

Team Colt would be the first Team of Commando Group Alpha to fall in battle.

Team Fox was considered the third-best Commando team of Alpha company, falling behind Carter-A259's Team Panther who served as Commando Group Alpha's commander and narrowly been beaten by Jake-A384's Grizzly Team, who became Carters XO.

Like all Alpha Company Commando Teams, Team Fox had initially been a 3-man Team but was restructured to a 4-man team prior to their augmentations. Team Brigand , more formally styled as TEAM BRIGAND and sometimes referred to simply as BRIGAND, was a 2-man Headhunter team drawn from the Spartan III program's Beta Company.

Brigand Participated in a number of classifed operations between the activation of Beta Company in 2544 on behalf of the UNSC Navy and Office of Naval Inteligence. The Team was disbanded after the death of team leader Monika-B152 during the course of Operation: TRUANT, a seek and destroy mission on the Covenant held planet designated BX-413 against a supply dump located on its surface. Officially this would be due to enemy fire following the completion of the Brigand's primary directive as they were disengaging from the enemy, according to the report filed by the surviving team member, Dylan-B224.

However, unbeknownst to his ONI handlers, Monika did not perish immediately after being hit by Covenant fire, instead being gravely wounded by a Hunter's fuel rod cannon which amputated one of her legs, whilst burning both of her hands beyond any use. Despite this Dylan attempted to carry his teammate to their extraction point, through arduous terrain whilst being actively pursued by Covenant hunter-killer groups. Despite his best efforts it would be Monika who realised that unless he left her behind, both of them would perish on the surface of BX-413, a fact she repeatedly made clear to him, who finally accepted the situation, after nearly succumbing to the exhaustion he was suffering from.

Aware that Monika could not be taken prisoner under any circumstances, and unable to do so herself Dylan was forced to euthanise his teammate to prevent her capture by the enemy, before proceeding to the evacuation site, though not before burying Monika's body, which nearly caused him to miss the evacuation ship.

Following the mission, Dylan was reassigned to the newly created Jericho Team, led by Beta Company member, Chrissie-B278 as the teams scout-sniper, under the new callsign of, Jericho Five.

The only survivor of Gauntlet Team would be Quinn-A098, who had become detached from her team, due to the orders of Kaitlyn-B237 forcing her, along with Faith-A199 to take a longer route to Rally Point Omega, thereby saving her from the encirclement that led to the destruction of her team. Unfortunately during the final evacuation, Quinn was hit by a plasma blast from a Grunts Fuel Rod Cannon, severing both her legs at the knees, damaging her spine and causing her visor to implode, temporarily blinding her.

After the Battle, Quinn would be placed in emergency cryo aboard a UNSC Frigate and was later discharged from active service due to the severity of her wounds.

Gauntlet Team would serve in countless battles after 2547 until the Battle of Reach when the majority of the unit was cornered at Rally Point Omega, and along with Echo Team, Red Team and Noble Six, was annihilated to a Spartan. After the Battle, Faith would suffer from survivors guilt and declared she would never lead another team and attempted suicide. Fortunately, she was stopped by Jake-A384, who along with the other surviving Spartan's, including Joseph-122 was supported through her period of strife. After she had processed her grief, accepted her team's demise hadn't been her fault and deemed herself fit for action, she was reassigned into Jake-A384's Brimstone Team, as Brimstone Two.

Red Team, more formally styled as RED Team and sometimes referred to simply as RED, was a 5-man team from the Spartan III program, being attached to the UNSC's Special Warfare Group Three, with its members being dubbed as Category-II's, informally known as 'Cat-II's', under the leadership of the veteran team leader, Kaitlyn-B237, who served as the XO to the units field Commander Carter-A259.

Red Team would serve in countless battles after 2547 until the Battle of Reach when the entire unit was cornered at Rally Point Omega, and along with Echo Team, Gauntlet Team and Noble Six, was annihilated to a Spartan. Kaitlyn would be the penultimate Spartan to fall at the RP, being bisected by a Covenant energy sword, whilst attempting to summon her bitter nemesis Jake-A384 and his Brimstone Team for support.
