Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Matthew-110 is a SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. A veteran of many conflicts, Matthew-110 is relatively well-known amongst UNSC forces and maintains a close relationship with several Spartan-IIs, notably, Kayden-127 and Michael-105. Matthew is known for his strong leadership and brutal efficiency, leading Fireteam Wolf on over 97 individual military operations.

Biography

Early Life and Conscription

Matthew was born on the outer colony world of Nyrus, on September 10, 2511. Prior to his conscription, Matthew would often find himself in trouble, turning to his violent side as a young child and falling toward crime. After being identified as a potential candidate for the SPARTAN-II program in 2517, he was abducted and sent to the planet Reach; it was here that he was trained to be a soldier by Chief Petty Officer Franklin Mendez and the Artificial Intelligence construct Déja. Although resistant at first, Matthew was eventually transformed from a self-centered lone wolf to a capable and competent leader, making use of the traits he'd developed growing up as a child. Before long he was recognized as one of the top candidates from the program and was closely monitored by Dr Catherine Halsey. On March 9, 2525, Matthew and the other candidates underwent their augmentation procedures at Medical Facility Endurance orbiting Reach. After successfully enduring the augmentation procedures, Matthew and the remaining Spartans attended a military funeral aboard carrier UNSC Atlas in the Lambda Serpentis System for the Spartans who had died during the augmentation process. Afterwards, the Spartans returned to Reach for their final training phase in the highland mountains.

Personality and Traits

A disciplined soldier, Matthew, is generally gruff and aggressive. He is an accomplished natural leader; holding the third-highest rank for a Spartan-II at Lieutenant Commander. Matthew rarely shows any emotion besides anger, part of his cold demeanor stems from the loss of many comrades and military indoctrination.
