"Planet of war, maybe once. Now, a planet of Humanity."
―Governor Slaven Javor, c. 2553.[1]

Mars, nicknamed the Red Planet, is a highly-populated and developed colony that is located in the Sol system. Named after the Roman god of war, Mars was colonised in 2064 as part of an international effort spearheaded by the nations of North America and the European Union, becoming the very first planetary colony established by humanity. It boasts two captured moons, and famous red skies which gives the arid planet's oceans a red tinge both on the surface and from orbit. To fuel its diverse economy including its renowned shipbuilding and manufacturing industry, Mars has an ethnic mix second only to that of Earth itself who all run its manufacturing facilities to establish one of the largest manufacturing powers in human space.

After being settled by SpaceX's initial group of volunteer colonists, Mars quickly became a haven for corporations wishing to escape the restrictive laws on their homeworld, driving an early era of technological progress and industrial expansion. A hotspot for pro-worker communist revolutionaries, Mars was a major battleground for the decade-long Interplanetary War, and fittingly served as the last true stronghold of the Koslovics. Far exceeding its pre-War prosperity, Mars' proximity to the Belt allowed the colony to enter a renewed period of growth that spanned the entire twenty-third century.

After the first wave of colonisation that resulted in the Inner Colonies, Mars' prominence in the manufacturing industry waded as competitors in the younger extra-solar resulted in a major recession and prompted migration towards the colonies. While government incentives were largely ineffective in their goal to attract transtellar corporations, it fostered native companies to take rook. This unique position resulted in the rise of the Reyes-McLees Corporation and the dominion of Misriah Armoury.
