The M405 Kodiak is a self-propelled artillery piece used by the UNSC Armed Forces, succeeding the M400 Kodiak.
Specifications
The M405 Kodiak heavily-armored, but to a lesser extent than the M808 Scorpion is. It is 10.7 meters (35 feet) long, and when not in lockdown mode, it is 8.2 meters (27 feet) and 4.4 meters (14 feet) tall.
Like the SP42 Cobra and the M400 Kodiak, the M405 Kodiak can lock itself down. When doing so, it deploys its 180 mm howitzer that fires rocket-assisted armor-piercing fragmentation shells. Each of these shells possesses a depleted uranium penetrator at the tip and is loaded with tungsten ball fragments that are forcefully scattered in all directions by an explosive charge upon detonation, allowing for the decimation of vehicles, structures and groups of infantry alike. The M405 Kodiak's 180 mm howitzer possesses a maximum firing range of 90 km (56 miles), only achievable thanks to the projectiles being rocket-assisted.
The M405 is also mounted with an M314 machine gun to be used by a machine gunner to take on targets that are too close for the main gun to deal with.
