- "I saw those stupid Necros Sappers heading out in front of their tank, scanning for mines. They gave the all clear and moved it up, only to activate the em three sixty two buried beside the road. Three Sappers and the Compound tank got ventilated and flamed!"
- ―Lance Corporal Mark Wallace
The M362 Anti-Tank Mine is a UNSC anti tank mine.
The M362 is a Anti tank mine, designed to 'catch the enemy off guard'. It is used after extensive use of other types of anti tank mine, which usually cause the enemy to deploy combat engineers who can easily find the mines. The mine is positioned 5 m from the road it is intended to attack and aimed using an integrated sight. The seismic sensor detects approaching vehicles and alerts the infra-red sensor and IFF interrogator. When the vehicles reach the optimum target point the warhead is triggered. The mine can also be remote triggered from up to 100 meters away. The explosive content is a dozen larger than usual EXCALIBUR incendiary flechettes which penetrate the flanks of vehicles and cause internal fires. The only drawn back of the mine is that it must be manually planted by infantry men in order to position it correctly.
Like all UNSC Mines it can be set to have a life span, after which it explodes and it can be deactivated and reactivated by coded signals. These signals are composed on near unbreakable codes, preventing the enemy from randomly bombarding the battlefield with codes to deactivate them.
M362A AT Mine
The M362A AT Mine was the successor introduced mid-way through the Necros War. It used a number of electromagnetic coils to volley the internal flechettes at the target at a fraction of the speed of light. The coils are activated by a small scale hydrogen battery and warm up and activate in less than two seconds, preventing detection defeat by magnetic sensor.
