- "We wrapped it about eight times around the coolant pipe for the reactor and set it off. Melted the titanium pipe in less that 2 seconds, and set their reactor into overload. The heat just about burned all the hair off my arms a good five metres away as well..."
- ―Anonymous UNSC Combat Engineer
M303 Thermite Cord is a UNSC device used for sabotage and demolition duties.
The Thermite cord is used by UNSC Combat Engineers and special forces to sabotage or destroy enemy materiel. Extremely multi-purpose, it can be wrapped about metallic supports on bridges, components on machinery and enemy materiel such as ammunition or weapons.
Thermite cord handles exactly like metallic wire, being flexible and plaint, allowing it to be tied around objects with ease. Each spool of cable has twenty five metres of cable which can be wrapped, tied or lain in various ways. The cable can be safely cut, and fitted with a detonation cap that'll set the cable off. The inner core of high energy nanoparticle thermote is ignited, which in turns ignites the outer metallic sheath, producing a heat close to 3000 degrees, being capable of melting through most materiels with terrifying ease. Wrapped around objects such as pipes multiple times, it can completely sever them.
