The Kataphrakt-class Battleship is a heavily armed UNSC warship made for taking on Covenant capital ships head on. It is considered amongst the 'Big Six', along with the Cavalier-class Fast Battleship, Pendragon-class Super Carrier, Sol-class Command Carrier, Titan-class Dreadnought and Ragnarök-class Dreadnaught. Armoured with the most advanced technologies available, it matches this with heavy-duty firepower. This allows it to meet with, and usually destroy similar vessels, such as the ORS-class, DDS-class, and CAS-class vessels. These vessels have a strong resonance with their crews, because while labour intensive, the sheer survivability of these ships ensure casualties amongst the crew are kept to a minimum.
