The Impediments of the Path was a title given to multiple high-ranking individuals who opposed the Covenant throughout the Human-Covenant War. Reduced to merely a hit-list by warriors who were not Sangheili, the Impediments immortalises a group of strategists who, through courage, skill and honour in battle, inspiring awe and even fear in the species as a whole. Many were known by various epitaphs attributed to them by Sangheili commanders, others by name. Their ability to lead their armies or fleets to great success" or "with commendable valor" saw them becoming highly-prized targets throughout the Great War, and each was responsible for the deaths of thousands if not tens of thousands of warriors. The death of a single person on this list resulted in the slayer, their legions and even their ship receiving incredible amounts of recognition and glory from the rest of the Covenant, with actual mourning of their loss being done by fasting and prayer of those who held particular reverence for them.
Discounting Demons who were kept within their own equally-respected group, only seven people are counted as being apart of this elite force. There are no Impediments who are confirmed to be alive.

The First and arguably the greatest of the Impediments. It was he who dealt the Covenant their first true defeat with the destruction of the Vanguard of Rapture and who almost never lost a major engagement with them, destroying three-hundred of their ships over the course of the war. | |
