The Hecate-class Tender is a specialised classification of ship for attending to Prowlers and their crews during long-term, high endurance missions. The Hecate is intended to support Prowlers out in the field, rather than forcing the Prowler to return to a station.
The Hecate-class Tender has all the same stealth capabilities as the regular Prowler classifications, such as stealth designed hull, low-observable engines, emission control, active camouflage field and electronic warfare systems. It is fitted with sizeable heat sink systems to protect it and due to its lack of weapon systems, or offensive RADARS and systems, it is substantially more conservative of power.
For tending operations, the Hecate can dock with any variety of UNSC Prowler, such as the Obsidian-class, Minerva-class and even the larger Scáthach-class. They can also be used to support Ronin-class Stealth Frigates and specially modified stealth ships, such as stealth carriers. The ship docks by using the standardized 'Hexagon' docking ring, both of which are hidden under stealth recesses on both ships. When extended, the camouflage field adapts to cover these, keeping their stealth profile. By doing this, it can dock with two ships at once, using both ports.
Onboard, the ship contains a number of tanks capable of taking jet fuel, water, hydrogen or reactor fuel, large stores of food, munition stores and relief crews for long endurance ships. The Hecate-class is often dispatched to attend to multiple ships, across several sectors, providing multiple crews, supply drops and weapons.
