Plot[]
Halo: Freedom's Cost, follows Master Sergeant Jackson Fate and Jade David during their involvement with Operation: Trebuchet. They mostly acted as boarding parties of enemy Rebel ships, but they did engage in some ground combat by taking a very small amount of Rebel land bases.
Chapter 1[]
"Sergeant Fate! Corporal Jade! Front and center!" commanded Commander Simone Davis.
"Yes, Sir!" Jackson and Jade both said to their commanding officer.
"It has come to my attention that you two work extremely well together. Due to this, you two will be on the same squad. You will be paired with a group of highly experienced marines. Your first mission will be to board the Rebel Ship Spring Cleaning and capture the Captain. He will be brought back here and interrogated." said the Commander.
"When do we ship out, sir?" asked Jade.
"Tomorrow, 0800."
"Yes, Sir!" they replied.
...
Jackson and Fate walked down to the mess hall, talking about their mission.
"I find it strange that he didn't tell us what resistance we will be going up against. I think the Commander's hiding something." said Jade.
"They never tell us what were going up against. We're probably just going to infiltrate the ship, take over the bridge, and extract the commanding officer. But, it's never that easy." said Jackson.
"If only it was. It would make our jobs a whole lot easier."
"We're marines. When we enlisted, we were informed that jobs were never gonna be easy. We've gotta suck up and carry on."
"We'll, I'm gonna get some sleep."
"Agreed." Said Jackson. They parted ways and each soldier went to their quarters to get ahead on the mission they would have to face.
Chapter 2[]
The next day, Jackson and Jade met on the way to the hangar. Each had their battle armor on, and were ready to go their mission. When they arrived at the Hangar, Commander Simone started briefing the soldiers.
"Marines, your going on one of the most important missions of this entire operation. A very high ranking Rebel Commander is on board the Rebel ship, Spring Cleaning. Your objective is to infiltrate the ship, reach the Bridge, and capture the commander. A pelican will be dispatched to extract you. Your commander will be Master Sergeant Jackson Fate." Some of the men saluted Jackson when they saw him, but most, who were Jackson's comrades, merely nodded.
"Master Seargeant! I expect this operation to go very smoothly.
