Overview[]

"Ascendant Justice" is the seventh level in the fanon game Halo: First Strike. The mission bears similarities to the levels Truth and Reconciliation and Data Hive, where the player(s) must protect an ally. Also like Data Hive, the player does not have shields, but rely more on stamina and the overshields generated by the Engineer.

Plot[]

The Ascendant Justice has finally been taken, and the Covenant are doing everything they can to kill the small human force and re-take the Control Centre. As the Master Chief tries to stop their sabotage, Cortana is holding the Covenant cruisers at bay until they can enter Slipspace and finally return to UNSC-controlled space.

{John grabs onto a plasma handhold in the hallway, and then another, putting his foot on the first handhold. He then leans over an elevator shaft, looks down, and swings himself in. The Engineer probes a panel in the hallway and activates more emergency handholds in the shaft. The Spartan drifts over to a door, followed by the Engineer, who also opens the door.}

Cortana: (V.O.) "Chief, there's gravity in your hallway. The power coupling should be a few levels down."

{John stands up in the hallway, with the Engineer on his shoulder. He takes a Carbine off his back.}

Cortana: (V.O.) "I've detected enemies in the vicinity as well. Your shields are inactive, so be careful."

{gameplay}

[Activate your tacmap and highlight the power coupling.]

(If the player is injured)

Cortana: (V.O.) "Chief, you're hurt. There are medical terminals in these hallways you can use. They work the same way...pretty much."

{After neutralizing a wave of Grunts, John stops at a locked door[1].}

Cortana: (V.O.) "I have an idea. I've been looking through the data concerning these Engineers, and it sounds like they can generate overshields to protect Covenant infantry. I can communicate with it via your helmet speakers and tell it to do the same for you."

{A series of odd squawks are heard, and the Engineer floats in front of the player. A few moments later, a humming sound can be heard, and a solid red bar appears where the shield bar was absent. A moment later the door slides open[2].}

Cortana: (V.O.) "There. That should help somewhat. Be careful though, these shields don't recharge, and the Engineer can only help you if you're not in combat."
