The Gorgon-class were the first interstellar super-heavy destroyers of the United Nations Space Command. The first super-heavy destroyers to enter commission since the Impossible Conquest in 2192, the Gorgon-class epitomized the essentials of the tradition: uncompromising firepower complemented by heavy plate armor, powerful engines, and overlapping point defenses. While only a handful participated in the Inner Colony Wars, the class only began entering reserve in the late 2470s and was returned to service with modifications during the Human-Covenant War.
