Origin[]

Spartan Omega Company was organized in 2537 in response to the deployment of Spartan III Alpha Company. Omega company was to deploy on defensive operations and hopefully change the tide of individual battles as well as directly serve as a special forces unit for ONI Section 3. Wanting this unit to train close to ONI's headquarters, a new training camp was created on the Reach moon of Csodaszarvas. Like Alpha company ONI recruited compatible candidates from orphaned children. However these children were from orphanages located in both the inner and outer colonies allowing a much larger scope of possible candidates. As most of these children had never heard of the Covenant, they were offered a chance to serve, make a difference and most influential, be apart of a forever family. Unfortunately even with this scope only 218 candidates were selected. During their training sessions the Spartans were placed into small squads to learn their personal skills, this would allow each squad to learn how to best utilize each member's specialty. This is taken further by applying each squad's skills to the company as a whole. In the end only 166 of the trainees would be deployed to full Spartan IIIs.

Equipment[]

Semi-Powered Armor MKII Prototype The Mark II was an improvement of the SPI Mark I. While not yet in mass production, members of the Headhunters had already been testing the MKII SPI armor for several years. With the loss of Alpha company the armor was being prepared for mass production with Omega company being given some of the first suits and those left over from the Prototype testing phases. The armor sports new photoreactive coating to boost its camouflaging properties. Although the new photoreactive coating can mimic a wide range of electromagnetic radiation, it is still sensitive to overload, making the wearer vulnerable for several seconds after a flashbang or plasma hit while the panels reset. Other adjustments were installed into the armor including experimental refits to the ballistic gel layers, upgraded software suites, and other functions. One improvement is that the armor is now hermetically sealed and contains an internal oxygen supply.

Formation[]

When the Spartans of Omega company shipped out for their first deployment, the 168 Spartans were split into seven platoons consisting of three squads each. The squads were subdivide into squads of eight Spartans each.

Disbandment[]

In May of 2552, with only twenty of the Spartan IIIs surviving, ONI disbanded the company and redeployed its members into smaller special forces units. These units were redeployed to multiple fronts and fought in dozens of battles in the closing months of the Human covenant war. Where these units were deployed is still classified. It is however well known that at least one of these teams were deployed to Reach during the covenant invasion of the planet in August of 2552. It is also known that Spartans O109, O009, O068, O033 and O223 were deployed to Tribute. The team were deployed alongside a pair of Spartan IIs and adopted the call sign Deadeye. All members of this team were declared KIA/MIA during the engagement.

Many of the Spartans that survived the end of the Human Covenant war either retired or were offered a place in the Spartan IV program in 2554 or at later times. These Spartans serve in various fire teams across the UNSC.
