Biography[]

Early Life[]

Rtyr was born in the State of Refum. His family was not the wealthiest on his home planet, however, they got around to buy what they needed. When he was still young, a covenant cruiser arrived and hovered over his town. He was fascinated and wanted to be there, and to fly it. Rtyr was not alone in his family though, he had a brother, who seemed to be entertained by teasing Rtyr. In May of 2493, Rtyr's brother threw a rock at him and was knocked out, causing slight amnesia and bruising. His brother was punished for attacking him without him knowing and showing dishonor to their family.

After his brother attached him, he trained to be a warrior and to fight back against bullies. His trainer, Khas 'Vadum was dedicated to make sure everyone would pass the class. He trained every day, and he did not leave the class until he defeated his trainer. His abilities to fight and take down his trainer reminded him of his thought long ago, to join the Covenant and fulfil his lifelong dream.

Military life[]

After taking his physical requirements, and beginning service into the Covenant, he was almost immediately deployed to a station in the Zoul system to control a rebellion of Unggoy. Rtyr was put into the main fight, as a Minor, he was ordered to kill all Unggoy that rebelled. Rtyr tried not to look at the dead grunts on the floor, but it was hard to not look. He fought all that came into his eyesight, but it felt like he was turning on his allies, making him feel slight guilt. After many cold and bloody hours of fighting, the rebellion was halted. Rtyr only suffered one wound. A needle in his shoulder. That battle was a test of his strength, and he was one of the twenty soldiers that survived the battle.

He felt disappointed that he killed so many unggoy, who just wanted to be free and live a normal life. But he did not let his emotions get in the way of his job. He was assigned into a Legion of Sangheili and unggoy to stop another rebellion from happening on Madural III.

The Human-Covenant War[]

Battle of Madural III[]

Rtyr's unit was commanded by a fierce Zealot commander, Khyr 'Mdama. While being deployed at Madural III, his unit was engaged almost instantly. Most of his unit wiped out, but him and his commander were still alive. After multiple requests for reinforcements, the Kig-Yar started retreating. Khyr thought it was a trick so they fell back to the landing. After waiting a day, A fleet appeared in the orbit of the planet. They both did not know what to do, so they decided to try to communicate to the covenant, but there was no response. Both of them were scrambling over their landing looking for a survivor, and they found a dead elite with a holographic map of the island. There were some Phantoms on the other side of the island, but there was at least fifty Kig-Yar between them and the phantoms.

They decided to walk around the whole island to get there as they were low on ammunition. After a long walk there, there where 2 phantoms, but there was no one around. The ship was intact and seemed to be fine. He entered and started up the ship and heard a loud beeping. Upon looking there was a large device in one of the engine rooms, a bomb. He quickly exited the ship and tried to leave the blast radius, however, he was not fast enough and the ship exploded, wounding Rtyr to the point where he could not walk. Khyr was able to disable the bomb on the other phantom and transported himself, and Rtyr out of the island. A covenant cruiser arrived in the system and headed to the orbit to obtain the Elites, and to be rewarded.

Battle of Harvest[]

After the battle of Madural III, Rtyr learned a few things about combat that training could have. Rtyr was now a Major and led a squad of troops onto the surface to engage the UNSC. As they where about to land, a bright beam split a CPV-class heavy destroyer in half, causing him to close his eyes as the pelican was slightly shook by the shockwave.

The Ship flying over Rtyr 'Refumee

Rtyr was ordered to immediately land on Harvest, and take the capital with the squads deployed in the area. While he was landing on Harvest, he saw smoke about 200km away from where he was, wondering if any of his brothers made it out alive. Rtyr landed with at least 100 Covenant troops, including Khyr. He landed about 50km away from the capital, and were immediately engaged from a lot of unidentified troops.

The Covenant's weapons were superior compared to the UNSC, which gave them an advantage as well as their shields. Rtyr was hit twice in the left arm, but the bullets did not pierce his armor. As they headed closer towards the capital, a CCS-class battlecruiser flew over Rtyr and Khyr's unit and started deploying troops over the city with its gravity lift. Suddenly as they continued to move, a bright beam struck the neck of the ship, splitting it in two. Upon looking, 2 UNSC ships had angled downwards and fired MAC rounds at it. The 2 ships repositioned but were overwhelmed by Covenant destroyers, engaging in combat. When Rtyr arrived at the city, a rouge plasma lance struck the side of a building and collapsed, causing dust to spread throughout the city.

Rtyr went about .5 km south and met up with Sev 'Ikavowattinrzo, fighting multiple squads of UNSC marines. The battle lasted hours until the UNSC seemed to run out of troops and the started retreating. Rtyr and many other Sangheili were taken back to an outpost, and transported back up to the CCS-class battlecruiser prior to the glassing.

Battle of Pelegain I[]

Rtyr was officially promoted to General, and recieved his next orders from high command. He was ordered to organize a ground attack on Pelegain to take the planet, seize any holy artifacts and to glass it. He thought if he could surprise attack the humans, he would deal a devastating blow to the UNSC. He had Khyr gather A few ships, and depart for Pelegain, having a fleet of 3 CCS-class battlecruisers and 2 SDV-class covettes. Once they exited slipspace he ordered all ground troops to land on the surface and the ships to engage the 2 platforms and UNSC ships. Once the dropships departed, Rtyr ordered all of his troops to move to the city when a large UNSC fleet exited slipspace just outside of where they did. Rtyr ordered all of the ships to engage the fleet and ordered all ground troops to attack the base, and to set up a headquarters. He sent his ship down to the surface and depaered, heading to the newly made HQ and joined the fight, leading the squads against the capital. Yellow, pink and blue covered the streets, rounds striking buildings and troops from both sides. As they were advancing, a sniper on a building and killed one of Rtyr's commanders, in retaliation the cruiser fired a torpedo at the bulding, striking it and sending it to the ground. With the capitol almost taken. However the UNSC fleet had destroyed the corvettes and all but one of the cruisers, Rtyr ordered his troops to scour the cities for artifacts and to fall back to the cruiser and retreat. When he arrived back in Covenant space, he was ridiculed but offered a opportunity to redeem himself.

Rise to the High Council[]

552Pic14
Rtyr 'Refumee and Khyr 'Mdama on a CAS carrier heading to High Charity

Rtyr was headed to High Charity to receive a message from the Prophets. Khyr transported him there and took to him to High charity. He gave him advice about what and what not to do. He arrived at High charity and was escorted by Honor Guards to the main chamber. There were 2 prophets in holograms present, and decided that it was the Prophet of Mercy, and Regret in holograms. He keeled, and asked what could he do for them. The prophets explained that he was suggested by a person he interacted with when he was a kid, for a position in the covenant.

He was offered the job of a High councilor. He accepted, in fear he would be reconsidered to be a General, and his history of the lost battle he should have won. He met with a Sangheili in a Dark helmet, and Gold greaves. A Honor Guard Councilor. The Councilor had a voice Rtyr recognized. The Sangheili said something his old trainer said to motivate him. But then he revealed his face. Khas 'Vadumee.

Khas greeted him to all of the other Councilors Raka, Fal, Kharo, Jul, Raga, and Sev Rtyr interacted with all of these Sangheili before, They where all in his training class except Sev, and Fal. Rtyr engaged in lots of politics but never seemed to understand them, endless squabbling and no combat. After the long and boring months of Politics, Rtyr decided to resume a position in the Covenant Army as a Zealot, and working on a new plan that would change the Covenant forever.

The Fall of Reach[]

Rtyr orders the glassing of Sword Base

On July of 2552, the Fleet of Valiant Prudence exited slipspace in the Epislon Eridani System Rtyr was in command of a strike Team that would end up a valuable role in the Fall of Reach. He was tasked with locating any Forerunner Relics. After a few days of searching for Forerunner Relics in Eposz, the Strike Team was alerted that a Spartan team was engaged with Covenant forces near the relay outpost.

Rtyr took 2 other Zealots to the inside of the relay outpost where he slew Laszlo Sorvad and wounded an Army Corporal. After waiting for about 30 minutes, Noble Team entered the outpost and found Laszlo, his daughter, and the Corporal. Rtyr then engaged Noble team with his zealot officers. Rtyr took a swing at Catherine-B320, and Carter-A259 but missed. Spartan-B312 continued to fire his assault rifle at him, so Rtyr could lose his focus on the other Spartan's. He charged B312, but his shields gave out, and instead of attacking him, he knocked him to the ground so his 2 zealots could finish the job. Rtyr ran to regain his energy shield but did not return to finish the fight, which ended up costing the 2 zealots their lives.

Shortly after contact with Noble Team, he started deploying troops to the Viery Territory where they would defend Spire One and other facilities near Spire One. After deploying troops to Spire One and a Zealot to a facility where he would report what was happening. Rtyr was awaiting a report from the Zealot but none came through. He decided to take a phantom over to the facility to check up on the outpost but all he saw were dead Elites, Grunts, and Jackals. He immediately left for his Corvette, where he saw the destruction of Spire One, and UNSC Grafton.

His Corvette went into the atmosphere of Reach and started discussing what they should do next. After regrouping, they decided to contact the other SDV Corvettes in the fleet to prepare to attack New Alexandria, however, the Ardent Prayer did not respond. Rtyr tried and tried but to no prevail. His corvette went into the upper atmosphere, to try and contact the Long Night of Solace, but they did not respond. After waiting an hour, he looked into space and saw a bright blue light in the middle of the Supercarrier, then a wave of blue. He saw the ship in two heading to the surface of reach. He immediately contacted Shipmaster Zaga 'Koramee about the destruction of the Carrier, learning it was a coordinated attack reported by one of the banshee pilots onboard the Prayer. Merely seconds after contacting him, the Fleet of Particular Justice exited slipspace on the other side of the planet. The Supreme Commander contacted him and informed him that he would be taking over the invasion but with the destruction of the carrier, Rtyr only had one thing on his mind.

Siege of New Alexandria[]

Rtyr proceeded with the attack on New Alexandria. He started deploying Brutes all across New Alexandria to begin the assault. As Rtyr started looking over strategies but word came in that a Spartan was assaulting his ground forces. Rtyr considered more zealots or even himself but instead sent high-ranking brutes to deal with him as a new approach, but the outcome was no different then the last time. The Spartan activated the M95 Missile System and disabled one of the Corvettes over the spaceport in New Alexandria. Due to his failures, he was removed from his command, and Thel 'Vadam took over completely.

Angered by this Rtyr continued his search for the Noble Team, where he tracked them to a building in New Alexandria. Rtyr forced them out of the building when a CCS-class battlecruiser started glassing near them. As they ran for a radiation bunker, he grabbed a Needle Rifle and waited for the right moment. When Catherine-B320 ran into the clearing, he fired, and the needle went right through her helmet, and out. Rtyr celebrated his success and kept his personnel searching for where they might go next.

The Final Battle[]

The next day, he received reports of soldiers trying to re-take sword base, and sent reinforcements to deal with them while he contacted the prophets. He waited 7 long days before he got word that a pelican was holding 3 Spartans, and was being chased by a Phantom. He looked at the map and saw that the Reach shipyards were there, and a UNSC cruiser lay dormant there. He scraped together whatever he could from his command and sent them there to finish the remaining spartans. While en route, reports of a pelican suicided into one of his scarabs, and 2 Spartans were still running. After deploying to the Shipyards, he waited for the spartans to make a wrong move. When Emile manned the MAC cannon, he sent one of his Zealots to stop him and ended up succeeding, but the Zealot also got killed.

With one spartan left, the CCS-battlecruiser Rising Salvation entered the atmosphere and charged up its glassing beam to deal with the cruiser. With the cruiser in the range, Noble 6 manned the Mac Cannon, and fired on the cruiser, going through its glassing port, and crippling it. The Pillar of Autumn then took off and made for space. He informed the Supreme Commander and chased after Noble 6, with the rest of his troops, and eventually trapped him. When the noble got hit several times, he watched as his best soldiers went into close combat and downed the spartan, and after a bit of a struggle, pierced his armor and hilled him.

He took a Phantom and headed to the atmosphere, seeing the orbital bombardment made him happy, knowing he completed his task and showed great honor to himself and that he could succeed in his command. He contacted the Prophets of his success and was rewarded greatly. He was tasked with taking some ships from one of the fleets and glass the planet completely, and to return to High Charity for a new assignment, assuring him the war would be over soon and he would be blessed during their path to the Great Journey.

The Doomed Penance[]

552Pic16
The Battlecruiser that was struck with an unknown missile

Near the planet of Sentamius, Rtyr's newly formed fleet was on a scouting mission for any possible human presence in the Bal System. With his new promotion to Imperial Admiral, he was very hopeful and ready to undergo any mission assigned to him. Unfortunately, most of his crew doubts he is a worthy Admiral. The Dark Silence, a newly made Supercarrier in the image of Regrets Solemn Penance was the operations center for Rtyr. He found a few ships with UNSC markings resting above the planet and decided to explore the power of his carrier, sending it head on to fight the ships. All of the ships were almost instantly destroyed and fell to the surface. Unfortunately, survivors were reported so Rtyr went to the surface with his most experienced warriors. Three cruisers hovered above surface to bombard the crash site, and he went to search the surrounding area and eliminated the soldiers. After getting reports of a slipspace rupture on the other side of Sentamius, the fleet lost contact with the cruisers. Rtyr hailed his ships but didn't receive a signal. While heading back to his transport, a shadow appeared over the planet.

Prophets
Prophets discussing what should happen with Rtyr

Almost immediately the ship fired plasma rounds straight into the hull of his cruiser and destroyed it. The ship crashed on the planet with a big blaze of fire, and sent off a second explosion and took out the side of a mountain. Rtyr got messaged from The Prophet of Truth to return to High Charity. Rtyr contacted his supercarrier which was trying to find the ship which had destroyed a few of the cruisers. He left a few of the carriers there and the Dark Silence to deal with it. Rtyr left with 3 Cruisers meet Truth and High Charity. After exiting slipspace Rtyr left on three phantoms to High Charity. The Prophets decided to have Rtas 'Vadam, Thel 'Vadum, and many other Sangheili including Rtyr find the index and deliver it to the prophets.

When he landed on the ring, he advanced towards the index with his squuad, but was ambushed by 3 Jiralhanae, a Chieftain, and two Minors. 2 of his guards were killed by the chieftan while Rtyr cut the two minors and severed the chieftains head, killing him. Rtyr immediately headed for his Cruiser and sent out a distress signal. He encountered many dead Sangheili, some he knew and some unrecognizeable from the brutal deaths they encountered. Rtyr's hate for the Jiralhanae grew even more with each dead Sangheili he encountered. The Great Schism had begun.

After boarding his ship and taking fire from multiple covenant ships, he returned to Sentamius to only see his fleet obliterated. Except for the Dark Silence. A large ship was adrift above Sentamius, partially missing parts of its dome. He thought it was High Charity but it was much smaller. The cruiser he was on carried lots of boarding ships, and many vehicles. He decided to board the large ship, but hailed it first with no response. After dispatching boarding parties, he went with to see what the large ship was. After looking in his database of all Covenant made ships nothing came up. He looked for any made ship that the covenant used including prototypes for High Charity. Nothing. He searched for Reformist use and multiple red flags appeared. Last known status: Taken over by an unknown species unknown to any species.

After boarding the ship he realized it was not a living species, it was the Flood. Rtyr ordered all forces to evacuate and destroy the ship. Rtyr stayed behind to make sure all Sangheili made it off safely. Rtyr realized he was trapped. Being surrounded by flood forms, Rtyr thought of ways to destroy the ship, slicing through the forms that tried to kill him. He decided to make his way to the engines, and destroy the Doomed Penance. After killing hundreds of flood forms, he made it to the engines and prepped them to self-destruct.

After heading through the corridors and slaying more flood than he did previously, he returned to his phantom as he saw the Doomed Penance slowly rotate and a bright beam fire from it, passing the phantom and striking the supercarrier, skimming the bow of it. As the plasma lance disappeared he looked back at the superstructure, knowing the flood would be adjusting aim, but at the last moment the engines detonated, splitting the ship in half before a bright light spread throughout space, destroying the superstructure.

He docked back with his carrier and headed out of the area, entering slipspace. He contacted some of his known Sangheili contacts to see what had happened. Upon learning that the Prophets had betrayed them and planned on firing the ring, he adjusted course to exit outside of High Charity.

The Sangheili Alliance[]

Battle at High Charity[]

Upon exiting to High Charity, he sent for his ships to rally and engage the Brute force, destroying multiple carriers and cruisers. He contacted Thel 'Vadam and had a meeting, learning of the alliance with the humans, and the forming of the Sangheili Separatists. He pledged his support to him. As the covenant ships began leaving the system, he followed close behind, exiting at earth. He hailed the UEG and offered his assistance with dealing with the Brutes, taking his Supercarrier down to the atmosphere.

Battle for Earth[]

Rtyr deployed his cruisers to the surface of Africa and began quarantining the states on the outside of Mombasa, heading to the surface to begin pushing into the outskirts. He found the Anodyne Spirit around of fleet of ships glassing the outskirts. He contacted the Arbiter again and learned of the UNSC strike force going to attack the Dreadnought. He had faith it would since it was made of forerunner metal but with the destructive power of the MAC, he figured it would devastate the ship and destroy it. However truth activated the portal and slipped away unharmed from the barrage. With the portal open, he offered his supercarrier to enter it and engage, however Rtas 'Vadum sent his fleet through and he was left at earth to finish off the remaining parts of the covenant.

After weeks of fighting, he fought off the Brutes and killed the Chieftain in charge. As the war finished, he offered his apologizes to Humanity for the death he had caused as well as the destruction of the UNSC worlds. He wasn't forgiven but offered a chance to help, taking his ships to the glassed colonies to assist in the rebuilding of the worlds.

The Blooding Years[]

Forming the Dark Covenant[]

As the Human-Covenant War finished, he had moved his fleet to Sanghelios and had frequent meetings with the council. He was appointed the Imperial Admiral of the Swords of Sanghelios. While the Blooding Years took place, he formed the Dark Covenant, a sub-faction that was sort of a military force, responsible for the fighting off of Sanghelios. As the years went on, and the Arbiter fought to restore the tribes of Sanghelios, he learned of the forming of Jul 'Mdama's Covenant, the only real competitor to the S.O.S.

Rtyr sought to have a diplomatic approach, however he was engaged upon a personal meeting, and the death of his close friend, Khas 'Vadum. With this he was outraged, seeking the immediate council of Thel to destroy the holdings of Mdama on their planet. After being told no, and reassurance that they would pay, he planned out a 3 year plan to take out supply caches and cripple him into submission. He took his smaller ships to take out some of the supply lanes that they passed through.

Upon contact, he saw an Maugen-pattern armored cruiser, slightly larger than his Ket-pattern cruisers begin engaging his ships. He ordered his fleet to swarm it and take the fire off of his ship while he had his cruiser enter above it, charging up one of the main excavation beams and pierced the hull of the armored cruiser, killing its commander and everyone aboard. While the main heavy threat was taken care of, he sent boarding parties to the ships, and captured them. He returned them to the S.O.S headquarters and re-armed the sangheili in the upcoming battle

ONI Target[]

As he aided in the war against Jul 'Mdama's covenant, he learned of the Created. As the Swords of Sanghelios came into their final battle, Rtyr entered the battle, igniting his sword and beginning to slash his way through the enemy sangheili, killing and capturing many sangheili. As the ships closed in, he ordered the ground batteries to hammer them, keeping them occupied as he fought his way through countless Prometheans and Sangheili. As they got to the final corridor, he radioed that the ground forces had been dealt with and that they had won. Rtyr headed back to the S.O.S base and rested after over 2 decades of constant fighting.

Upon hearing that fireteam Osiris and Blue Team were heading there he hoped the Demon wouldn't hold any grudge against him. However after they met, he was pleasantly surprised that they all had a peaceful feast. After the day was done he returned to his flagship and celebrated its almost decade service since it was manufactured and let it dock in the station above Sanghelios.

A few weeks later he learned of a target put on him by ONI from one of his informants. He stayed in his ship and allowed minimal contact until it was resolved, and eventually learned it was because Rtas 'Vadum's flagship had apparently destroyed three ONI prowlers, informing Thel of this and attempting to get answers as well as the target taken off of his back.
