Karina A. Liberatore (SN: 35426-95883-KL) was a Human special covert warfare operative of the United Nations Space Command and was also an biochemically augmented soldier of the ORION Project, which made her a first generation SPARTAN. Liberatore would then become a Paramilitary Operations Officer for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI.
Born into luxury and wealth on Tribute, Liberatore enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps, where she would go on as an operator for UNSC Naval Special Forces. Liberatore's lethal skill would lead to her involvement with ORION project, where she stood out from her ORION comrades. Liberatore would go on to join the Office of Naval Intelligence, where she was tasked with covert operations that included assassinations, intelligence gathering, espionage, hostage rescues, and direct action operations. Liberatore would also join the Asymmetrical Action Group (AAG).
As an operative, Liberatore was regarded as being amongst the best of her peers in the special warfare community. Liberatore is known for her cunning CQB methods, as she was proficient with hand-to-hand combat and CQC tactics. Liberatore was known in the field for her aggressive approach to combat, and her drive to be the best within the special warfare communities. Liberatore is regarded as one of the most intense and fiercest soldiers by her peers, which has helped form her reputation as being one of the ONI's most lethal and respected operatives.

Early Life[]
On May 15, 2470, Karina Elizabeth Liberatore was born on the colony of Tribute, one of the most prosperous, rich commercial colonies in all of space. Being raised in the urban metropolis of Casbah City, the young Karina came from a wealthy and influential family of industrialists and politicians. Karina was enrolled into the Tribute Gifted, one of the elite educational facilities in the Inner Colonies. Throughout her childhood, it was apparent that young Karina was a prodigy, excelling in her academic studies, especially in physics and mathematics. However, Karina had a different idea when it came to her own future.
Due to growing up with five older, ambitious brothers, young Karina formed a competitive streak, with an intense desire to carve out her own path to success. When academics were not enough, she looked to other ventures to challenge and better herself. The young woman would fulfill these urges as a sportswoman. Karina rebelled against her high-society lifestyle and family, as she participated in various athletics and sporting activities, focusing on boxing and studying Jiu Jitsu, competing at a high level on Tribute. After her father threatened to cut her off unless she refocused on her academics, Karina enlisted in the UNSC Navy and became estranged from her family.
Initial Operational History in UNSC Armed Forces[]
Liberatore would go through the Navy's basic training course at the Unified Combined Military Boot Camp on Reach and would make an immediate impression. Liberatore outperformed other trainees with endurance and strength, as her athleticism allowed her to exceed all standards. She proved herself as one of the top-performing trainees in her unit. After her graduation, Liberatore went on to join UNSC Special Forces, within the elite ranks of the Naval Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWAR).

Liberatore underwent her specialized warfare training at the UNSC Special Warfare Center in Songnam, Korea, on Earth. It was a difficult, but important period for Karina, as she proved her worth as a soldier, as her family lineage invited perceptions of nepotism and entitlement. At 20, Liberatore became a special warfare operative, joining the Navy's Special Tactics Squadron under the NAVSPECWAR umbrella. The STS was well known for conducting clandestine operations such as counter-terrorism, intelligence-gathering, combat rescue, hostage rescue, and special reconnaissance. Liberatore and her team would be deployed to the Outer Colonies, as part of the measures to curtail the Insurrectionist movements and pirating activities within the region.
During this period, Karina Liberatore would prove herself to be a force to be reckoned with in combat. She proved to be a genius when it came to CQC and established herself as a focused warfighter. Karina impressed her superiors enough to rise through the ranks, and even led her own teams on her missions from time to time. Liberatore was effective as a solo operator, being tasked with counter-terrorism and hostage rescue missions that needed to be handled discreetly. She was assigned primarily to missions where her strong capacity for adaptation to any environment and exemplary hand-to-hand combat skills have been deemed essential. Liberatore was well on her way to becoming one of the most elite operatives in her unit's history before another opportunity soon came knocking.
ORION Project[]
Induction and Augmentation[]
In early 2491, the Colonial Military Administration would relaunch the ORION Project , with Section III of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) providing data and resources to support the program. With the success of the initial 65 test subjects in their training and augmentations, ONI sought out more volunteers for the program. After another successful combat rescue mission, Liberatore was then approached with an offer to join ORION in 2492, and she promptly accepted.

Karina and the other ORION volunteers were placed under the specialized training course for rigorous combat testing. ORION initial testing in CQC and basic combat skills. Thanks to natural talents in CQC and hand-to-hand combat, Liberatore would rise through their ranks, as she became one of the best-performing candidates within the program. However, Liberatore would face struggles that she never fully addressed in the past. Liberatore struggled with long-range weapons, like DMRs, and she showed poor performances when operating with a team in most combat simulations and exercises, as she often would follow her own path. When she was paired with Riley Franklin, a fellow ORION trainee, Karina would find common ground with him, as both of them shared similar work ethics and intense drives for success. Karina and Riley trained together often and pushed each other to their limits, whether it was on the obstacle course, weapons training, or CQC training.
During the Assessment and Selection phase of their training, Liberatore and Franklin would meet and train with two other ORION candidates, Javier Rivas and Daniel Contreras, the latter of which she briefly met before. She was uneasy about their personalities, whether it was Rivas's relaxed and joking nature or Contreras's quiet and nervous demeanor. It took time, but Liberatore would warm up to these two men after training with them, in spite of their "quirks" in her words. Karina would come to be more trusting and respectful with her new team. These four individuals would come together in their training, pushing each other to their absolute limits, and helping each other with their shortcomings.
One of ORION's principal goals was to implant their volunteers with a series of augmentations that would make them into the UNSC's first breed of "supersoldiers". Along with his fellow volunteers, Karina would spend several months recovering from the procedures and growing accustomed to his improved strength and reflexes before being able to rejoin his fellow ORION operators. After recovery, Liberatore was assigned to an ORION fireteam with her new comrades, as ORION was prepping and being briefed for their first major combat operation.
Operation: CHARLEMAGNE[]
In June of 2494, Colonel Robert Watts, a Marine Corps officer, had defected and joined the Secessionist Union, as he rallied the Insurrectionists on the colony of Eridanus II for an uprising against the planetary government. Now equipped and reinforced by rebel sympathizers hidden in the Colonial Military Administration's ranks, along with support by criminals and arms dealers, Watts conducted a methodical and thorough series of attacks involving terrorist bombings, political assassinations, and kidnappings that impacted Eridanus's shipping routes. With the help of CMA defectors and smugglers, Watts and the Insurrectionists were able to gather a flotilla of starships, to blockade the planet. The Eridanus Government had officially requested vital aid from the UEG in December of 2494. However, by January 2495, Colonel Watts and his militia forces had established control of the colony.
As a result of CHARLEMAGNE, the UNSC succeeded in regaining control of Eridanus II from the insurgents. However, Colonel Watts and several of his rebel soldiers were successful in escaping to Eridanus's asteroid belt, where they escaped capture and continued to operate against the UNSC. Meanwhile, the ORION Project, having completed both insertion and extraction during the operation without being seen by any survivors, fueled wide ranges of conspiracy theories and media speculation. As the legend of these supersoldiers grew, it proved very helpful to the Office of Naval Intelligence's propaganda efforts in the following decades.
Operation: KALEIDOSCOPE[]
In 2502, new tactics were formed when it came to combating the Insurrection. Instead of using great amounts of resources fighting the rebels in large-scale, frontline combat, a new emphasis was focused on the assassination of key figures in the Insurrection movement. With the success of Operation: VERITAS, they were able to conduct such an operation, under the codename KALEIDOSCOPE. In this operation, Contreras and Liberatore were paired for their assassination missions, as to maintain covertness and quick mobility.

Contreras and Liberatore were tasked with neutralizing HVTs (high-valued targets) within the Insurrectionist movements on the colony worlds of Levosia, Arcadia, and Eridanus II. These HVTs were considered essential to the functions of the Secessionist Union and the other rebel factions within the region. For two years, Contreras and Liberatore were able to cause havoc within the ranks of the rebel insurgency, creating an atmosphere of fear and paranoia for the Insurrectionists. This would only make their missions much easier, as both were able to isolate and eliminate rebel leadership, with little to no difficulties.
Local colonial media reports of notable Insurrectionist figures being found dead or going missing continued to grow in frequency. During their wetwork missions, Contreras and Liberatore both developed a deeper camaraderie with each other during this operation, as they both put themselves in harm's way for each other, and both began to understand their respective mentalities and struggles. After months of kill/capture missions, the duo would be quietly extracted and briefly reunited with the team. KALEIDOSCOPE was a successful operation for the UNSC, as rebel factions had collapsed and dissolved in droves. This included the Secessionist Union, as their leader, Jerald Ander, had been killed. The actions of Contreras and Liberatore played a significant role in the success of KALEIDOSCOPE and they were recognized for their efforts by Naval Intelligence. In fact, it would lead Naval Intelligence to offer Liberatore a spot within Section One of the agency, an offer that Karina hastily accepted.

In early 2503, soon after her recruitment, Liberatore underwent specialized training at "The Farm" in Camp Peary on Earth. This training was to demonstrate to the Naval Intelligence superiors, that she had the adequate skills to successfully perform in the field as an operative of ONI's Section Three. The training course at The Farm tested individuals with navigating through obstacles, stealth actions, interrogation, excessive & non-lethal force, and bypassing surveillance. In the end, thanks to her abilities, Liberatore was able to complete his intense training and she was welcomed into ONI/Section Three. Karina's superiors at the Farm were impressed by her quick thinking and the aggressiveness she displayed in her field training.
By 2504, Liberatore would be assigned as an operations officer for the Beta-5 Division, which is responsible for the development and application of top-secret, military projects for Section Three. In her first days as a Beta-5 agent, Karina would take part in ONI's secretive High-Value Target Assassination Program, designed to neutralize individual threats to the UEG and UNSC. Liberatore was given the latest in military-grade hardware and weaponry, and she was given a small team of assassins to lead during these HVT operations.

From 2504 to 2510, Liberatore and her unit would conduct several successful HVT operations in the Outer Colonies, targeting key figureheads within the Insurrectionist movements in the region. Liberatore would personally lead these missions, as she went into the field and utilized her talents.

Karina Liberatore was considered to be blunt, intense, and resourceful, with an obsession on being the absolute best at what she does. From early age, Karina was instilled with the importance of success in her life. She developed a competitive and rebellious nature out of said desire. Liberatore has responded to pressures by asserting herself over her peers, and making sure there is no room to question her competency. She is direct and honest, not afraid or caring on what others feel about her as long as they respect her. Karina is very cautious with her social interactions, and doesn't cultivate many close relationships. Liberatore probes and prods individuals with numerous questions, allies and foes alike, with goal of determining their value as an asset. She is often seen as antisocial, cold, calculating, and intimidating by most. However, for those who do know her, Karina does care for those close to her, and is of strong character when everything goes wrong.
In action, Liberatore operates with a cold, ruthless efficiency, and was willing to forgo any moral misgivings for success. However, this approach has taken a mental toll on her. The residual stress of combat has also caused her to dwell on every misstep, perceived or real. In spite of this, Liberatore has proven to be an exemplary special warfare operator that can operate under any high-stress situation. Liberatore pushes herself to her limits, both physically and mentally. Her identity is intertwined with her military training and operations. Karina appreciates high-risk, high-reward scenarios, regardless of the personal cost that comes with it. Liberatore thinks fast, and her aggressive style almost always puts her at an advantage. Karina would be seen one as one of ONI's more intimidating and fearsome operatives.
