Earth is humanity's home-world, the Capital of the UEG and the number one UNSC military stronghold, and is home to 23 billion Terrans (what people from Earth are called). Before the the Covenant's invasion of Earth in Fall of 2552 Earth had about seven Orbital Space Elevators, one in Mombasa City, a second in Quito, a third in Tokyo, a fourth in the capital of New York City, a fifth in London, the sixth in Havana, the final one in the Russian Federation capital of Moscow. After the Human-Covenant war's aftermath the UEG sought to rebuild what was destroyed during the war with Covenant, and with that the UEG leadership came up with the idea of a additional nine Orbital Space Elevators to boost the economy these new Elevators were located at the mega-cities of Paris, Berlin, Saigon, Beijing, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
