The F71-X Hawk-class Interceptor were a prominent series of atmospheric and space capable interceptor concurrently employed by the United Nations Space Command Navy and their allies. Ever since its development and successful combat record, the F71-X Hawk-class Interceptor was considered the eventual successor to the Humanity's aging F/A-352A Longsword.

The Hawk was designed and manufactured by the Human contracted Revolutech Advanced Industries, a company largely known for its affiliation with Project AEOLIA and its hand for the manufacture of AEOLIA's unique technologies. Built in the later years of the Human-Covenant War, the Hawk-class Interceptor were field tested in multiple skirmishes to test combat proficiency, surpassing all expectations against the Covenant. Unfortunately, the F71-X Hawk-class Interceptor was only produced in limited numbers due to the UNSC's lack of resources. It wasn't until peace time that the Interceptor could enter mass production after war reparations, which it subsequently found itself involved in post-war operations against numerous dissidents and any left over Covenant Loyalists with the Diviner-class Mobile Suit Battleship.

The F71-X Hawk-class Interceptor officially entered service with the UNSC Navy during the Gundarian Initiative, sometime before the ensuing Saulosian Campaign.

The F71-X Hawk-class Interceptor's primary weapon system was a pair of G-18B Assault Cannons, which were miniature versions of the larger G-17A Assault Cannon modified for individual use on a smaller scale.
