The F/A-13 Interceptor/Strike Fighter, also known as the Razor, was the main starfighter in service of the Colonial Military Administration before the introduction of the GA-TL1 Longsword, and were widely popular in the Outer Colonies and common sights in colonial defense forces and private militaries.

The F/A-13 was designed in 2413 by Misriah Armory to be a short-range all-weather defensive fighter with interceptor and ground-attack capabilities as well as the ability to operate both in atmosphere and in vacuum. Originally offered to the UNSC, the F/A-13 would find success with government militaries across human space. Many defense contracts were made with the Colonial Military Administration and colonial governments. When the GA-TL1 Longsword entered production, they replaced the F/A-13 as the mainstay of the UNSC’s aerial fleet but remained popular in the CMA and the colonies.

Serving with distinction, this humble fighter would see action in every conflict of its day, from minor skirmishes against pirates to the few bushfire wars on far-off colonies. Its success would see it ultimately staying in production decades after it was intended to be discontinued despite showing signs of age. It would eventually be replaced completely in the military by the GA-TL1 Longsword, although continued to thrive in the private sector.

With the beginning of the Insurrection, the large numbers of Razors were patched up and flown once more by independent parties and factions, this time by private militaries, rebels, mercenaries, and pirates. When flying against their replacements, many of these craft were destroyed in the conflict, but against other similarly or less-equipped forces they continued to perform reliably. Razor pilots would regard the craft as rugged, reliable, effective, but still relatively cheap and simple to maintain. In the hands of a skilled pilot, a Razor was still capable of competing with more modern spacefighters or ground-attack craft.

Razors often found their way into the hands of Insurrectionist groups from CMA-sympathizers or the black market, who found them relatively easy to obtain as far as space fighters go. Rebels and terrorists would sometimes use the Razor to launch kamikaze attacks on ships or military staging areas. Razors were used during the New Arlington Rebellion where three squadrons-worth were flown by the rebelling colonial forces against the UNSC before being annihilated.

However, their most famous moments would be during the Falkirian War for Independence. Upgraded and used by a proper military familiar with their use, the F/A-13s would prove instrumental in the conflict, protecting the mass drivers and harassing the UNSC's logistical support.
