The Empress of Mars-class were eight United Nations Space Authority heavy carriers, converted from passenger liners for use as carriers and troop transports during the Jovian Moons Campaign. While significantly larger and better armed than the preceding Solar Princess-class, the heavy carrier class suffered from the rushed nature of the conversion process. While all Empress heavy carriers would serve long enough to be commissioned into the new United Nations Space Command in 2164, both the Empress of Mars and Lunar Empress would be withdrawn from service in 2165, with the Empress of Jupiter being decommissioned in 2170. Of the subsequent five heavy carriers commissioned, only the Empress of Callisto did not serve beyond the conclusion of the conflict.

Deliverance of the Empresses[]
In the aftermath of the Jovian Moons Campaign, noted painter R.G.L. Joyce produced an enormous artwork inspired by the role of the Empress of Mars carriers in aiding the resolution of the crisis. Titled The Deliverance of the Empresses, Joyce's painting shows an anachronistic portrayal of the end of the campaign, with all eight heavy carriers triumphantly arriving in Jovian Space as the moons below smolder with conflict. Despite its obvious errors - five of the carriers portrayed would not be commissioned until the following year - the work was immensely popular, and reproductions continued to be featured in UEG and UNSC facilities well into the 26th century. In addition, a patrol ship was commissioned with the name Deliverance of the Empresses in 2185.
