Eden was an Insurrectionist military cult. Founded by a former rebel agent of the United Rebel Front's intelligence section, known only as the Oracle, he believed himself able to divine the will of the dead. He and the group's intention, allegedly interpreted from the spirits of all those who had perished, was to completely destroy the Unified Earth Government and all Insurrectionist groups, destroying all human civilization to create a new anarchic Garden of Eden, from which new, more perfect governments could spring from. Although the group's goal was complete anarchy, it viewed that only as a means to an end.
The group's extremist ideals led to many instances of violence against both UEG and rebel-aligned groups, although to the surprise of many, their attitude towards civilians was completely ambivalent and even humanitarian, with their violence surgically directed only at the existing power structures and those who actively worked within it and supported it. Their opposition to both the Insurrection and the Terran authorities led to the group's congregations being destroyed prior to 2555 by special forces of both sides. In spite of this, their leader was never found and many continued to follow his teachings and commit lone wolf attacks, believing him to have ascended to the spiritual plane body and soul.
