The Dark Space Shipyards (DSS) are a conglomerate of massive, connected, astrally-based superstructures constructed for the primary role of manufacturing and launching star-ships of war.
Overview[]
The Dark Space Shipyards primarily comprise several shipbuilding stations and stellar dry docks and are located approximately one thousand light-years outside the primary spiral clusters of the Milky Way Galaxy Built between the years of 2532 and 2560, the massive station takes the shape of an elliptical disc measuring fifteen by ten kilometers. At any one time, the massive shipyard is capable of carrying out the fabrication and assembly of more than forty-five space-faring vessels. An "optimal" crew comprises nearly 500 thousand individuals; however, during recent times, its active crew is made up of approximately 150 thousand workers of varying classes.
Capabilities[]
As the largest dockyard in all the human sphere, the Dark Space installation is one of the most important assets of the UNSC Navy. As it was already inferred, DSS are capable of simultaneously producing one dreadnought, one super carrier, two battle cruisers, four cruisers, eight corvettes, and thirty lesser, support-oriented vehicles. Aside from their foremost applications, the massive structure was also designed to perform other major activities, namely scientific research, engineering, and experimentation.
It is worth noting that the revolutionary Graphene armor was conceived on-site at the Dark Space Shipyards' laboratories.
