"All those blasphemous lies, all the madness, the Covenant Empire has made a fool out of all of us. But however, now that we are enlightened, now that we are better, we must fight against it and end the tyranny. Brothers, today, we call for the destruction of the Covenant!"
―Ceb, motivating the Sangheili under him to fight the Covenant during the Battle of Earth.

In times of conflict, many Sangheili stand up and prove their prowess by fighting back their enemy and leading themselves to victory. They become a great leader and continuously racking up victories, become important figures in history, often being honoured by the Covenant for their deeds and sacrifices. As such, there are only a few such Sangheili who have come upto such a high position, with the most notable one being the legendary Ceb 'Varum

The tale began when a young Sangheili was born to the Varum state on Qikost, an ancient lineage that started from Setoz 'Varum, an important and renowned Sangheili in the early ages, and one of the first Arbiters. The young child would be names as Ceb 'Varum, later having a younger brother called Jez 'Varum. Interested in continuing the family tradition, Ceb took up politics on Qikost while Jez left to join the Covenant Empire. However, after an unfortunate event when because of conflicts between two other states, the Varum state itself faced utter destruction, Ceb was forced to abandon everything and leave Qikost.

Soon afterwards, Ceb too joined the Covenan military as a means of living, and after a few victories entered the Covenant Special Operations branch, participating in many battles, like the Battle of K7-49, eventually becoming a member of the Silent Shadow. As luck would have it, Ceb's actions were closely monitored by the High Prophets, who later picked him for becoming a Sangheili guardsman of the Covenant Honor Guard.

However, after the Great Schism, when the Sangheili were replaced by Brutes, Ceb became very enraged, and along with other Sangheili, formed a Heretic unit called the 'Knights of Loyalty'. They soon launched many attacks against weakened or small Covenant fleets, building a huge fleet of their own. After the entry of Jez 'Varum into the faction, Ceb learnt of the Forerunners and all the lies the Covenant had told to them. When the Covenant Separatists was formed, the Knight merged with them and together with humanity, destroyed the Covenant Empire.

Following the Human-Covenant War, Ceb became an important figure on Sanghelios as a close ally of Thel 'Vadam. He regained control of his fleet, which he had during his time with the Knights, and was an important leader throughout the Post-War and the Reclaimer Era.
