"Heavy lift does not even begin to describe what the Heron does. Its a mass conveyor, it massively conveys a whole firebase onto your doorstop."
―Captain Anatoliy Kedzierski

The CD-20 Heron is heavy duty dropship used by the UNSC. Referred to as a mass conveyor, it is often used to transport UNSC infrastructure, such as ground side installations, and military fortifications, though it can also transport personnel and vehicles, including super heavy vehicles such as the Elephant or Mammoth. While unarmoured, and possessing little in terms of defensive tools, the Heron's heavy transportation capabilities are vital for UNSC deployment.
