On April 27th 2556, the host Lekgolo colony recovered from the derelict SDV formed into a singular Mgalekgolo form, identified as a Goliath by ONI. Although the facility hoped to learn more about the Goliath, it soon went into a rampage, almost breaking free from the facility. The Facility deployed both Spartan Jameson and Spartan Pascal to prevent the Goliath from escaping but were having difficulty.

“Bulwark”, having just completed a live-fire test, was still equipped with its prototype arm cannon and moved to assist the containment efforts. Both bond-brothers concluded that the host would cause not only the deaths of the tamers that had given them their fascinating new technology but also their possible termination, as some sort of human response would retaliate.

S-IVs Jameson and Pascal caught the Goliath attempting to break through the garage blast-door. Both Spartans engaged the Goliath and slowly whittled it down. Soon afterwards, “Bulwark” arrived and both bond-brothers fired their machine guns to gain its attention and fired grenades onto the body, splitting off the large colony into smaller snake-like pocket colonies. Due to their speed, the pocket colonies wormed their way up the walls and into cover. Both Spartans-IV and “Bulwark” fired at the pocket colonies, killing several pocket colonies crawling up the walls and roof in attempts to escape. The remaining pocket colonies managed to reform and take control of a maintenance Cyclops, and attempted to attack the Spartans and bond-brothers. “Bulwark” managed to bash the clunky attacks away with their Arm Shield and were able to fire another batch of grenades, destroying the mech and remaining lekgolo from the host colony.

Biography

Origin

The Lekgolo worms that would come to be known as Bulwark was formed when it split off from its prior colony in 2554 inside the CCS-class cruiser known as the "Revealing Lance" that sank to the bottom of the Puertorrican Trench in 2552 in the end of the war.

Research Subject

Later that same year, the Office of Naval Intelligence conducted an investigation into the remains of the cruiser and discovered the numerous Lekgolo colonies inside, they would be later transported to a secure ONI Black Site in Cuba, where they would test applications for the Lekgolo worms in human technology. Despite the overall results being less than initially hoped, one colony made its way to the weapons depot, and formed into a Hunter pair while integrating an automatic grenade launcher into its left arm. This pushed away general application research and trials for Lekgolo combat units began.

Pet Project

Despite many lekgolo colonies being unruly and a very dangerous task to ONI tamers, the colony, named B-U8 was very fascinated with UNSC weaponry and cooperated with its Human leaders, the research team assigned to B-U8 thrived, eventually even designing UNSC arm cannons for the pair.

By 2556, Bulwark was already Culebra Base's favorite pet project. Almost every researcher and base personnel doted them as their fascinating new 'war machine' began responding to certain commands and cooperating much more than the other colonies.

Goliath Incident

On April 27th 2556, the host Lekgolo colony recovered from the derelict SDV formed into a singular Mgalekgolo form, identified as a Goliath by ONI. Although the facility hoped to learn more about the Goliath, it soon went into a rampage, almost breaking free from the facility. The Facility deployed both Spartan Jameson and Spartan Pascal to prevent the Goliath from escaping but were having difficulty.

Bulwark, having just completed a live-fire test, was still equipped with its prototype arm cannon and moved to assist the containment efforts.

Soon afterwards, Bulwark arrived and both bond-brothers fired their machine guns to gain its attention and fired grenades onto the body, splitting off the large colony into smaller snake-like pocket colonies. Due to their speed, the pocket colonies wormed their way up the walls and into cover. Both Spartans-IV and Bulwark fired at the pocket colonies, killing several pocket colonies crawling up the walls and roof in attempts to escape. The remaining pocket colonies managed to reform and take control of a maintenance Cyclops, and attempted to attack the Spartans and bond-brothers. Bulwark managed to bash the clunky attacks away with their Arm Shield and were able to fire another batch of grenades, destroying the mech and remaining lekgolo from the host colony.

On May 5th 2556, pressure from the UEG due to the risk presented by Goliaths forming in Humanity’s homeworld, forced the base to be decommissioned, and Bulwark was transferred off-world along with the research staff and Spartan security detail.

Covenant Test

On October 17th 2556, the Lekgolo Research group aboard the Sahara-class Heavy Prowler ‘Luminous’, descended onto the former colony of New Barbados which was currently under attack by a Covenant Splinter Group. ONI decided that this force would prove to be a suitable test for Bulwark against armed combatants. While both Spartans were tasked with safeguarding the Prowler, Bulwark was deployed to a methane refinery established by the splinter group while the main UNSC forces engaged the brunt of the covenant forces.

Bulwark engaged and killed fifty four grunts, thirty two jackals, twelve elite minors, and two Zealots. Along with two Ghosts and one Revenant. In the end, Bulwark was assisted by UNSC forces that reached the pair. Despite initial confusion from the squad first to reach the Covenant Camp, the bond-brothers were allowed to depart on their pelican and return to the Luminous.

URF Test

Later on, in March 6th 2557, Bulwark was again deployed but against a URF camp on Harvest. This time both Spartans joined Bulwark as back-up while the bond-brothers engaged the URF forces. The brothers sustained moderate injuries during the fighting but managed to completely rid the camp of sixty-five footsolders, six Warthogs, two Cyclops combat mechs and one Pelican Dropship.

Equipment

Bulwark was equipped with a customized Arm cannon specifically for the bond-brothers, boasting an integrated M460 Automatic Grenade Launcher along with an integrated M247H Heavy Machine Gun fed by a belt of ammunition, allowing it to sustain continuous fire for long periods of time.

The armor it had equipped was inspired by Halcyon honey-combed structures, allowing it to withstand heavy impacts and small-arms fire while retaining a good measure of mobility.
