The Battle of Traso was an engagement between the Boundary Republic and United Nations Space Command. The Battle of Traso also has the dubious distinction of being the only large-scale UNSC operational failure during the retaking of Boundary. The defeat was mainly the result of competition for forces by Major General Julia Grodbeck and General William Zawon, the latter of whom was assigned to capture Lesno, the capital of the Boundary Republic. As a result, Zawon received priority over Grodbeck.
The lack of forces, as well as various other factors, combined to make it near impossible for the UNSC to take the city, despite doing serious damage to it. Traso would surrender twelve days after Major General Grodbeck halted attempts to seize the city. The general consensus was that once news of Lesno's capture reached Traso, the Insurrectionists lost the will to continue fighting, it finally becoming apparent that the Boundary Republic was going to be defeated.
