The battle of Carrae was the deciding encounter of the Conrian Civil War and one of the largest, if not the largest single battle in modern history. It was fought between the New Conrian Empire under its Emperor Julius Augustus Aurel and the united fleets of several warlords. After this battle, nobody within in Conrian space was every able to question the Empires rule again.
Prelude[]
The Conrian Empire had raged an very sucsessfull campaign of reclaiming and recounquering many colonies, crushing any resistance and bringing order back to the empire. For many years, the warlords fought against each other and the Empire used this, by taking them out one by one, growing stronger and stronger over time. Finally, the warlords realiced the threat and united their power to crush the new Empire. Imperial intelligence found out about this new alliance, which gatherd it forces at the mining planet Carrae and they knew that nothing would be able to stop this armada once it was ready to attack. They had to strike first
Order of battle[]
The empire had mobiliced nearly 60 % of its fleet, nearly all ships they could spare and even attacked before all imperial troops had gatherd. The fleet was under the command of the emperor himself, who was assist by several high ranking officers. The Warlord fleet on the other was also not completly present, several units were still on route and command was divided, since every Warlord commanded his own ships, leaving them fractured.
The battle[]
The Warlord fleet was caught by suprise, as the Imperial navy jumped into the system and directly the attacked the scatterd fleets. The battle itself was decided before it began, smaller Warlord directly tried to escape, but were fired on by the larger fleets to keep them in line, while the Imperial navy destroyed hundreds of ships before they could regroup. But still, after suffering heavy looses, the resistance organiced and stiffed and the imperial looses also sky-rocketed. The fighting in space went on for over two weeks, after which half of the imperial fleet was either destroyed or damaged and nearly all warlord ships had been destroyed. What followed was a long ground campaing, as millions of legionairs landed on Carrae to take out the remaining leaders and forces.
