Master Gunnery Sergeant Athena Maye (service number 12987-88934-AM) is a highly decorated Orbital Drop Shock Trooper who has retired from the UNSC. Born on Earth but raised on Harvest, Athena would immediately enlist into the Marines on her eighteenth birthday. Later volunteering to be an ODST, she would serve with pride throughout the Insurrection, earning a reputation as an efficient close-quarters specialist. Refusing retirement when the Covenant attacked Harvest, Athena would serve throughout the brutal twenty-year conflict. As a witness to the beginning and end of the war, she would participate in the toughest battles of the War, such as the Harvest Campaign, the Fall of Reach and the Battle for Earth. Forcibly retired when the war came to an end in 2553, Athena would roam human space searching for purpose, hiring herself out as a mercenary or tying up loose ends.
