The Ang Gorgos refers to a Promethean compound intelligence among many more developed by the Forerunners during the Forerunner-Flood War in an attempt to revolutionize their military capabilities against the parasitic Flood hives. Constructed from six essence extracts of ancestral human spacefarers through the Composer, the synthetic being was reused as the central-controller ancilla for heavy socket armigers employed by Warrior-Servants. The mass-template ancilla seems to derive its name from an ancestral human scouting vessel, the Insula Gorgos.
Copies of the Ang Gorgos piloted many vehicles and network nodes as part of the extended Forerunner battle network supplemented by the Domain, but by the Flood War's end, few of these remained intact and many more became corrupt with the Gravemind-borne logic plague. After centuries of hibernation, the closure of the Domain for Cortana's Created unleashed a new wave of Forerunner constructs into the galactic wilds.
One such compound intelligence dodged destruction deep into a void fortress world factory, the "Ang Gorgos Lightbearer" commands attention among human-derived Forerunner machines within a self-proclaimed machine order called the Dismantled. Unburdened of Forerunner intelligence and operation limiters, Lightbearer has eyes set on humanity's future with intent unknown except a growing, shared obsession for the Mantle of Responsibility like other awoken, Forerunner Ecumene-era entities.
